Modern Warfare 3, the video game. I'm not a gamer, but my friends are; they understand me spending money to get tattooed about as well as I understand them locking themselves up for hours in front of monitor.
  5. I think this is my favorite so far-so much history.
  6. Better pic of my ROA tattoo in my gallery now: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/gallery/newimages/8734-steve-byrne-rock-of-ages.html
  7. I can't say for sure, since I don't know anything about 'reality shows' in other countries, but the fact that we award some lady for birthing twenty-something kids w/ fame and fortune seems pretty "quirky". Also, pride in being rustic, which I find awesome, seems to be looked down upon in other countries.
  8. That I can turn on the TV at dinner and see an eviscerated corpse (thanks "Bones"), but I can't see a topless woman because that's harmful in some way (?)
  9. Right calf- Steve Byrne (Rock of Ages Tattoo, Austin,TX)
  10. I think it's interesting-all tattoos, art, and visual imagery are "geometric". I think that's why certain symbols like crosses, roses, skulls, anchors, etc stand out because their intrinsic nature is geometric. If you look at real tribal pattern art, the lines are representational, sometimes of abstract ideas like the Dreamtime in the Aborigines or social position in South Pacific, N. American native cultures, and early Celt/British tribal art. I think Hooper and Jondix's work standout to me because they are tuned into that frequency.
  11. Have you tried to get an apprenticeship? Only legit way to get "tips and techs" to become a "pro artist".
  12. I wouldn't have shown them a damned thing.
  13. A big part of my decision to go with Steve Byrne is his way of taking traditional designs that have been done thousands of times and making them fresh. Plus, I was surrounded by a truly incredible array of vintage and original flash and art from Higgs, Roberts, Malone, and Stell. Focusing on those images while I was going through 4.5 hours of heavy work took it to the next level = )
  14. Last one; I could wear this thread out with pics of customs bikes and cars from Japan:
  15. Also want to say I'm bummed Huero hasn't posted since May- had some really cool pics in this thread
