  1. I dont think most people have bad intentions, its just ignorance. Today I was being tattooed and a gentleman came in and wanted a drawing. David politely told him that a drawing is done with a scheduled appointment. He said he wasnt ready just yet but had some Ideas he wanted to see drawings of. I honestly dont think the guy was trying to be cheap or rude I just dont think he knew better regarding an artists time and work.

  2. Tattoo conventions are packed full of ignorant and rude assholes. We just finished with the London show and because our helpers (and Valerie) are young, tattooed and good looking, cameras were clicking all weekend.

The only people who asked permission of any sort were the people who wanted to come inside our booth or who wanted the girls to pose.

Most people shot without flash but taking a photo of a girl's chest tattoo, 12 inches away from her face, with flash isn't cool.

My gurning and obscene gestures in the background of douche's photos is a different matter.

@ian, if you are not a dick, you'll be in the much-appreciated minority.

It's a convention. Most people working expect to have pictures taken from a respectful distance. Convention visitors should remember that it's not an exhibition. Tattooers are not there for your amusement.

    stewart,

I agree with your words also if there is involvement with women and possible bare parts a visitor should have common sense enough to not push or even ask for a picture in that situation. If its a seedy tattoo magazine I am sure their act gets old and tattooers and enthuesiasts alike catch on quick.

  3. it is indeed kev, I am getting a skull on my ribs. he told me he hoped I wanted it big because it wouldnt take him long. Is he that fast? I am thinking 6x6 but will let him tell me what would look best. I hope he touches back with me before the appt but our conversations have led me to believe I am in good hands. Your post introduced me to his work and prompted me to get a piece from him. I sincerely thank you.

  4. the guy who took over my position has and infinity loop on his wedding finger, and i assume it is also on his wife's. i thought it was cute.

if Jackson and i ever get married, we'll be getting coins flipping (not on our fingers though haha), because when we first started dating, we could never decide where to go eat, so we'd flip a coin. he suggested the idea.

I like this idea oppossed to getting wedding bands, most couples could come up with something more meaningful to their relationship

  5. OK, this is my first tattoo, done by myself during a party at my house while the parents were out of town. Was a little loopy and like 14 years old at the time? (1984). It started out good, the F and U came out nice; but the C and K are horrible. India ink and a sewing needle.

Part of it got burned off on a motorcycle tail pipe later (and that doesn't seem to make it any worse haha).

my first few were done in this manner, early 90s like 90-91 we were all about 14-16 I was fortunate to only get 4. Some of my friends were a dozen deep with some bad visible tattoos

  6. ADD runs deep in that shop. I have a dagger on my forearm from regino gonzales - appointment was for 8pm. we didn't start tattooing until about 11pm; finished at 2:30 in the morning. troy was there - playing that same spoken word rant. i was intimidated by dude at first but eventually he warmed up once the conversation veered to kettlebells, deadlifts and beer. my kinda dude.

    Deadlifts FTW!

  7. did 1 hr and 10 minutes on laser today, then went straight to the zoo with the little one. This was a different girl than before and she made me bleed. After this one heals I think I am done. I would guess some good artists would be comfortable with the amount of this I have knocked out
