One thing that is weird that seems to bother me and some may find it a little strange is when people say they want to incorporate something into their tattoo. I don't think there a heard single good idea after the word incorporate as far as a tattoo is concerned. I find most people use this word because they want some lettering hidden in something or some other weird thing that doesn't make a very good tattoo. But I also hate when people use the word awesome, well i would say overuse it. Because think about what actually is awe inspiring vs what people refer to as awesome but that my weirdness on the matter.

The name is Dave Flores. I am 31 years old, I work in a warehouse as a forklift driver and as a counter person at Acme Tattoo. a small street shop on the outskirts of Portland Oregon. I am married to my wife Karen and we have a eight month old named Rollo. In my spare time I like to cook, brew my own beer, and obviously get tattooed and learn about the craft and its history.
Before Portland I lived in Phoenix Arizona and Colorado Springs Colorado. If you have any questions feel free to ask, but I warn you my life is pretty boring.

Racer 5 was the first beer that got me into IPA's. I just found some Russian River Sour Beers at Trader Joe's the other day spendy but worth it. I really love everything Lagunitas puts out. Brown Shuggah is probably my favorite or maybe the Wilco Tango Foxtrot. For awhile they were making a beer about Frank Zappa every year. I am getting ready to try to make a beer similar to Brown Shuggah while my wife is out of town this weekend. I hope it turns out.

My torso is done and done :) Finished picture has been in my gallery for a while now.
I know Valerie posted this in her gallery, but in case someone might have overlooked it you can check it out here:

Valerie was going to do a guestpot at a local shop here in Oslo, but had to cancell in the last minute. She offered me to get the tattoo done at Frith street instead, so I jumped at the opportunity and flew back and forth in less than 30 hours. It was a blast! :)

Here are the latest additions. The Tiger is on my wife, the Fudo sword is me, both by Matt Arriola. The Christ is on me by Vinse One. I have three or four sessions left on my back, but Matt is moving to NYC so I won't be getting more work on it until November. All of this work was done within the last two and a half months so now I am broke.

I remember a post from a tattooer friend on facebook where he and his girlfriend were having dinner with Ed Hardy and she posted the picture and one of her friends commented something like "you mean the guy from the clothes" and Doug Hardy saw it and posted something like " I didn't think Ed Hardy was a real person, I thought he was a figurehead like Sara Lee". Maybe it was funnier to see it in person but I still smile about it today.

My favorite brewery is Lagunitas out of California. They specialize in mostly strong beers but have a Czech Pilsner, IPA, Imperial Stout and a Dogtown Pale that are their year round beers. I don't know what the chances of getting them in the UK but I know the US distrubition has recently expanded. Anderson Valley is another Brewery in that area that is great. They make a great Amber Ale, and their Summer Solstice is a great session beer. Their Oatmeal Stout was like top 5 on best beers in US at one time. On the other side of the country Dogfish Head and HeBrew brewing and Schmaltz make some good stuff.

Yeah I don't really know him that well either. My boss knows him from back in the day. I walked into tattoo city on a trip to San Francisco just to look around and it just so happened Doug has just got back from Aloha Monkey and was doing walk ins that day so I got tattooed and hung out with him for a little bit. But for the most part I know him on the internet like you and he seems damn funny and a good sport.

That bear tattoo just makes me think, "Ms Rad by name, Ms Rad by nature", haha.
Here's a new one from me! This was done just yesterday, so my arm is pretty swollen. It's by Thomas Morgan, who is just finishing a guest spot in Inkslingers in Newcastle. I think he told me he'll be in Paris next, so if you live near there, I'd recommend getting some work from him!
Oh yeah, and I kind of thought this was obvious (I'm sure it will be to you guys), but since a couple of friends have asked me- the gypsy head isn't from yesterday- Ian Parkin did that, and it looks FAR better when my arm isn't at a funny angle :P
Anyway, here you go, sorry for the bad picture. I never did put that picture of my tattoo from Charlie on here, did I? If anyone wants to see it, I'll gladly put that up too :)

Just got back last night from a trip to Chicago. Got tattooed by Mario Desa (skull with butterfly wings). Saw Archers of Loaf play. Ate at Chicago Diner. Weekends away don't get much better than that.
I don't have any decent pictures of the tattoo yet, but there are a couple up on Mario's facebook.

Well I do have to say I was not that well informed until recently (I have read every post here and have been researching on my own). With all of the horrible, shit, backwards advice or knowledge that a lot of people have out there it is hard for someone that knows nothing to sort through the garbage. The world of tattooing and being tattooed is one that (at least to me and a lot of people I know) is very "mysterious".
To sum up this thread (since I do not care to return to it) I will sum up with a long-winded analogy. Which goes as follows:
It is easy to say "Wow what bad choices, wrong guy, wrong style ect. when you know the industry. I myself like I am sure a lot of customers are not well informed either through anti-tattoo propaganda, shitty references (dood my guy is DA BEST EVER!), and general secrecy around the industry itself.
To compare I will say this. I work in the computer industry, but not as 95% of the population knows it. For me to say to you "Wow you didn't know what a beowolf-cluster was? Holy moly you dont understand Change Management relating to business application impact modeling?!" would be similar to saying the quote above to someone who has little knowledge of the tattoo industry.
People like me need to be more informed. It is extremely overwhelming to go for that first tattoo (hell I've been trying for years) when you are thrown into a foreign world as I was. You not only do not know your options but sometimes get derailed by a few tough guys or bad timing!
As to bubbleberry, I do NOT regret my decision to get this piece done. I am not going to laser it off. I have stared at it day and night since I got it and am starting to like it a lot more. It may not be the greatest tattoo in history but it is a part of me now and I like it. The only tattoos I would have ever regretted would be the ones (thank god I didn't) I would have gotten when I was drawing on myself in middle-school high-school (mostly band logos and a cross [atheist now]).
Overall I am very happy at the information and advice I have seen or been given so far on LST and am extremely grateful for all of it (thanks everyone!). I feel much MUCH more informed in the area (by no means an expert) but love the art I have seen, and am so glad all you tattooers put in all that work to continue this amazing style of art! Also thank you whoever reads all of this, as it was a bit long-winded.

Scott did this one last night on my arm. i'm pretty stoked on it, and all morning Jackson and i were joking around, me moving my arm quickly towards him at random points and saying "ROARRRRRR". it's not the best photo, just one from my laptop, and before i get asked, it's a California Grizzly Bear and the 1922 is the year they went extinct.

Tim, before I say anything I just want to say this, you have been one of my tattoo heroes who's work I have looked up to for my entire career. I am not laboring under the delusion I am anything more than some 4 year streetshop schlub who is lucky enough, thanks to Scott's board here to be able to say something you might read. I have nothing more than the utmost respect for you so don't think I'm some dude trying to "Call you out" or anything like that. My point, especially in regards to you is this:
Whether you want to acknowledge it or not yourself, Ami, Kat etc. are the face of tattooing to mainstream America, and like it or not you are ALREADY giving TLC a bunch of free advertising for the show because they're running it sandwiched between two episodes of the TV show that you are on! Which puts the people on your show in a bit of a pickle. Now I'm not saying you should kick in the doors of TLC and tell them if they air it you quit or whatever (although I'm also NOT saying it wouldn't be awesome.) But I think silence on the matter is just isn't route to go. Like I said before, you guys are the face of tattooing to a lot of folks, you represent tattooing to millions of people on TV each week. Silence on this matter from you and the people on your show could be misinterpreted, at best as not caring and at worst, as some kind of tacit approval.
Joe Ding-dong on his couch has no idea WHY tattoo school is bad, shit, as far as he knows, you, Ami all you guys, went to "some kinda tattoo college." Right now the chorus of disapproval on this show is a bunch of tattooers on facebook changing their photos and swearing on TLC's page and signing petitions that will most likely be tossed out. We have to face facts, the production company (Touch productions in case anyone was wondering) has already made the show, TLC is most likely going to air it in spite of everyone's outrage. and millions and millions of people are going to see it because it's sandwiched in between two episodes of what is probably their highest rated show right now, which you just happen to be on. You guys are in a position with your relationship to the network to bend their ear and at least express you displeasure, but honestly I doubt they'll listen to that either. But people WILL listen to you guys, ESPECIALLY you. You are in the unique postion of being probably the only person involved in these shows that still has the respect of the entire tattoo community, Who the fuck ISN'T going to listen to World-class tattooer and total dreamboat Tim Hendricks!? I'm not saying you owe anything to anyone, I'm not saying you have a duty to do anything, I'm just saying you'd be a fucking hero if you did.
