  1. the first shop i was ever tattooed in was Realistic, Bill Salmon did it and he was real friendly. this was in 84'. At the time this as far as I know was the only appointment only shop in America. I believe Ed started that ,you know the whole japanese connection. But I feel like a lot of people are using this to legitimize themselves nowadays . Everyone is free to run their lives however they feel necessary, aint that cool. But i don't think I'm ready to be so exclusive. I'm happy to see that so many might think my ideas are valid, it helps. I hid from tattooing for a long time. But Im back, I aint gonna be rich, but maybe I'll be happy.
  2. I have some pretty bad ones I will never mess with ,because of association. one of them is by the late Eric Hogan. he was by no means a great friend , more like someone I knew, But I will always remember him, His mother would probably appreciate this. During these times that seem sometimes like a "cool" race, we need to remember the whys and hows people have always gotten tattooed. As a tattooer/ist we ,especially street shops, face it everyday. those silly reasons mean something to those not in the know. your Moms love, your children's love, you went somewhere, you freed yourself, don't forget. They aren't just cool. Last evening I put stick figures holding balloons on a woman's foot, I tried to put them on with all the professionalism that i could. If those don't meet anyone's ideas about what good art is or what a cool tattoo is,it doesn't matter. she talked about how she went to a different shop and they were rude about it. I did a good job, she was happy, I got to eat dinner doing something I want to do,not something i have to do, Im not cleaning toilets ,Im not a Walmart greeter. not that good hard work isn't respectful , Its that I'm lucky and hopeful today. And yes I will try and give them the best stick figures they need. I do love me some "regular people".
  3. I really feel like my rude opinion , sparked a pretty good, thread. and no i dont like all my paintings. i do paint flash also. I work at a Tattoo shop in P'cola FL.

  7. I dont know you,But,this is some cool shit. I would love to see more evolution posts from you. you seem to be quite a machinist. much of the posts on here seem to be about feelings and such. this is historical mechanical truth, love it.
  8. i just got off the phone with my old friend and fellow tattooer Martin Robson ,who has recently relocated back to his home England, after living in America for probably 25+ yrs. he has helped me with my delemma, working for a non tattooer is never a good idea, its all business,no love.
  9. I was working for GTC at the time and became frustrated with the biz, attitudes, clientele, you may know what a street shop is like, kinda tough. I was getting married and wanted to have medical benefits, etc . more than 10 yrs later i feel like that was a mistake.as was that marriage. I am at a point in my life that i feel like i need to focus on creativity rather than stability. At the time i thought i would settle down ,lol, i never really have. I built and repaired elevators before tattooing and that is what im currently doing although i never quit making some form of art which i have always done since i was a young child , Im 46. I hate regret.
  10. Im trying to come back to the biz after many yrs, I was thinking about going to work for someone that has no connection to the biz and only thinks about it as a biz. this thread is making me seriously rethink this.Ive never worked for a nontattooer, becomeing frightened.
  11. where are we going ? looking at the past so much feels so depressing. Im sure Cris is a nice person, but i found this vid very depressing. Retro everything seems so frightening, is the future that bleak? when i was a teen my dad would get kinda irritated at retro rockabilly, now i get it.
  12. more good signage....."long after the thrill of a cheap price is gone, the tattoo is still there." GTC.
  13. if the plumber shows up and he looks like a lawyer I would be very confused.
