  1. Areilla, i think that artist crossed a line. at least from a customer's stand point. it was your work, and that's pretty disrespectful for anyone to rip if off without your permission, regardless of what style it was. personally, i wouldn't go back. then again, i always let the artist design the tattoo for me. some artists may view having someone bringing in their own work as a slap in the face. after all, they are artists too, and perfectly capable of designing something that is unique and just for you (i've never seen one of my tattoos on someone else, other than the piece that inspired me starting this thread). that's half the fun for me, is seeking out someone based on their talents, and giving them a handful of ideas or something that's been stewing around in my brain, and then seeing what their imagination comes up with. but this is just my humble opinion and i'm in no way trying to argue with you. just provide you a different perspective.
  2. man, i feel like it's so hard to know what to get in a back piece. i thought i was set on an idea, then i look at this thread, and a million other ideas just come into my head! i guess at the moment it isn't too pressing though, since i don't have the money to be spending on it anyway.
  3. i have! but i also know people who have been tattooed by many of the guys there, and the work just always looks spot on. i fuckin' love sweet pea, especially their all you can eat brunch.
  4. yolks on me then! (well hopefully not, but you know what i mean) it's hard to tell sarcasm from sincerity through text sometimes. and here i thought i was helping haha
  5. i think about 99% of what i see coming out of Scapegoat is pretty awesome, and i'm not saying that just because i'm vegan.
  6. i think an improved response might have been to link to the previous thread and also to the new tattoo newbie guidelines. just my own .02 as i slowly come back here. i was impressed enough with how this thread was handled to sign back in (not that my opinion counts for much, but just wanted to say "good job!"). and i think i get Deb's point (maybe?), and possibly another point she didn't even mean for others to get. her friend is missing out on the whole experience worried about what others will think, and on top of it, she'll never completely understand the experience of African Americans or other races for that matter, simply based on her own ethnicity/race. tattooing is kind of similar. if you're not born or develop that drive to be tattooed, then you're never going to understand the full experience, and if you're worried all the time about what others think, then you're probably never going to have that innate drive.
  7. oh man 4am? that's brutal! i was thinking more like 7 or 8 haha. i'll be getting home at 11:30, so i'd like get 6 to 7 hours of sleep at least before attempting to do any of those exercises.
  8. man, that sounds nice!
  9. but there's soooo much to love out here! (not that there isn't in New York either!)
  10. you and your gal should just move out here.
  11. well if you want a training partner D, starting in two weeks i'll be free most mornings. i am REALLY out of shape right now though.
  12. how many phones have you posted Ursula? ;)
  13. i'm not suggesting anything, thats why i was waiting to hear a response from you before passing any sort of judgement other than stating my own personal opinion on the image. honestly, i think you posted it in the wrong thread and now you're trying to pick a fight with me. this is a thread under the Funny Stuff category (look at the top under the header on the left). if you think the image is interesting or a good discussion starter, then it needs to be posted somewhere else (and we have a couple of other image related threads on the site). otherwise, people, myself included, are going to be confused as to why you put it in a humorous category, especially if you don't think it's funny yourself. there are many images in this thread that i too find offensive, but i can see how others would find them funny (and i try not to push my views on other people). that one i couldn't find funny and i was wondering why it was posted here. seriously, you're getting something out of my responses that's not intended. i'm just confused why you posted a serious picture in a funny thread. that's all.
  14. i'm actually kind of interested... but i don't think i'll be in shape to do it by next year haha

    Man Vs. Food

woah, someone's had a bit too much haterade today ;)
  18. as a witty response to the other jesus image, yes i liked it and it was funny to me. not charles manson. and the Jim Jones follower was not in response to anything. i was waiting for your response as to why the Jim Jones image was funny (which is why i put ... instead of a .) but apparently you don't have one. which i don't understand why you would post it in a thread that is full of images that are ironic/funny. edit: clearly i'm having trouble getting my thoughts out today.
  19. i think what i mainly dislike about Terry Richardson, other than his general attitude, is that he's not doing anything different from say Danny Lyons or Nan Goldin, and is doing it for what seems to be the shock value, rather than the genuineness of some of his contemporary peers (such as Edward Templeton, or even Glen E. Friedman). i do like his work from when he was in Iraq for the first desert storm, and right after her returned. that felt genuine. and i'm glad i wasn't the only one who found that show offensive. anyways, we can go back on topic now.
  20. yep, hand signals are the way to go. and he doesn't stray far actually, he likes to hang around their other two dogs or their family, i think because then he knows what's going on. he's in love with their son Waylon, who's only 20 months old, and lets him climb, hug and pull his ears all he wants. he's a great dog, and a pitbull mix so just another one on the list to put the stereotype to shame.
  21. Ursula, we are on the same wavelength today.
