  1. Hello and welcome from Texas.

I'm also a long time lover of Japanese art and history. I think it started when my grandmother give me a katana my uncle brought back after WWII. (it is the only object I'd be sure to take with me if there was a fire in my house)

  2. My leg's tiger was completed 5 days ago. I removed the plastic wrap 5 hours later and cleaned it with a soap from my wife's clinic as usual. I then used Saniderm overnight for the plasma stage and replaced it the next morning. I left the new Saniderm on for 4 days.

Wow, what an overall improvement compared to the past when I used triple antibiotic ointment the next day followed by aquaphor. The tattoo felt much less sensitive and didn't leak on any sheets or clothes. Not even the slightest sign of infection or edema. It was nice since nothing needed to be done.

I couldn't remember the name of the soap until later. Hibiclens Antiseptic/Antimicrobial Skin Cleanser

This is great stuff any time you need to clean your hands or fresh tattoo that can even be used as a surgical hand scrub, but there is no pain. You can find it at most any pharmacy.

  3. thank you for calling the SPCA

This was next to my step daughter's house in the very funky San Leon area, birthplace of the Bandidos MC. Mrs. T and I spoke with the other neighbors and realized that if we didn't do something, Marshall would continue to suffer and possible die if untreated (she's a nurse and I'm a retired firefighter/medic). It wasn't even a choice.

This also keeps the step daughter out of the line of fire if the next door property/mule owner get pissed off since they will likely face a fine.

  4. @The Tig - lemmee get this - your brother all but called your wife a whore and all you gave him was stink-eye?

Yeah, it was a generalized statement that he suddenly realized was actually shit hitting the fan. I was more focused on keeping her from exploding and kicking his ass (she grew up in South Jersey in a racially mixed neighborhood during the civil rights riots and can still handle herself). The family did what it took to moderate the situation instead of escalate it. Each family has it's fucked up chemistry and mine is no different. Fast forward... I no longer spend much time with them for several similar reasons.

  5. Here is my completed tiger by Tracy Lambright. We'll wrap the leg with a dragon later so he left plenty of negative space. It is one week old and in the peeling stage so it hasn't really settled in yet. I'll get a better photo when it isn't raining and the tattoo completely heals. The florescent lights messed up the yellow ink in the photo for some reason.

I may have him put some white in and around the eyes later.

I'll add old Tigger on the other calf to my post. I had a hard time getting it in focus and with enough light. He'll soon be getting company on that leg.

  6. Cool moto biomech sleeve! AO.gif I spot a knee puck and an inverted fork with a big front rotor, so you must like road racers.

I retired from motorcycles 20 years ago when my boy was on the way. Riding motorcycles in/near a big city like Houston is a huge risk. I started riding motorcycles when I was 5 but now ride road, track and mountain bicycles. I gotta' have 2 wheels.

  7. I really, really don't enjoy being asked to participate in conversations that begin with "so I just bought a tattoo gun online."

    Yikes!

I remember talking about tattoos 15 years ago at my Dad's house. He has an old one on his shoulder from the navy, circa 1954. My wife just got a small traditional rose (her deceased mother's name was "Rose") and I already had two. My conservative brother then blurts out, "Only bikers and whores have tattoos."

You could hear a pin drop.

My wife was about to jump his shit when I jump in and say, "Well, it looks like we'll need to buy you a Harley since you sure aren't a whore." I gave him the stink eye. My sister even came to her rescue saying, "I have eye liner tattooed to my eyelids and I'm no whore." My brother backed down and stayed that way. Dick move was called out.

  8. First off, you want I should go and bust his knee caps for ya?

As for a cover up, the thin lines and small overall size should make it fairly easy in the hands of an expert. You'll need to put something a good bit larger to cover it. I'm thinking a rose.

  9. Welcome!

Here's a little tip on dealing with pain. If you or someone you know ever took a lamaze class, you may already know that relaxation is the best tool for dealing with pain.* When we give in, bending like a reed in the wind, pain is much easier to manage. Focus on breathing slow and easy. As soon as you tighten up, force yourself to relax again. At times when it gets especially painful at a tender spot, I mentally move my brain and all pain outside of the body. I'll focus on something in the room and put my mind right there as if in an out of body experience.

    * Example: Take an ice cube in your hand and lightly hold it in a relaxed grip. You can do this for a fairly long time.

Try holding a cube in a tight grip in the other hand. You can't hold it for a very long time compared to the relaxed hand.

This is the same principle for dealing with pain of any kind.

  11. I'm glad you resurrected it because the whole thread was a good read and perfect timing regarding what I have being doing and thinking about with my left leg.

Same here. My right leg sleeve is starting to take shape, but my left leg currently has only one and I'm looking to collect various tattoos there that I've always wanted. The negative space is part of the plan and this thread enforces how good that can work.

The addiction grows stronger every day!

  12. As someone who is new to LST but not to tattoos, I can really relate to what you are saying. My wife has only one on her hip that can't normally be seen and now wants a few flowers on her upper back/shoulder, which I think will be beautiful. We both work in conservative places and no one there knows we have any ink. We're both in our 50's.

I'm considering a pair of irezumi half sleeves, however. The lower edges will be visible at work and I no longer care!
