    Tattoo revenge

the doo doo looks like a pile of doughnuts with a flame at the top... doughnut candle?
  2. @Hrubarb hahaha yeah, he is a pretty tough lookin' dude. One of the rad perks of being with him, no one messes with me in public, no one approaches me to ask about my tattoos, and no douchey dudes try to talk to me at the bar/store/wherever.

    Walking Dead

Alright guy, I came here today to admit that show is growing on me. As season two goes on, it's getting better and better. Still not the best thing on t.v. but it's getting closer every episode!
  4. whats up Carl, love you guy's shop. You might know my dude, he has done some guest spots there, recently he filled in while you guys were in Hawaii. Anyways, welcome!
  5. My initial thoughts say, yeah help a brother out, 'cause he will likely never meet another western tattoo artists. On the other hand it's kinda like you can't teach him all he needs to know in the (I'm assuming) short time you will be there so it could end up being a bad idea. There's been a lot of talk here about who should be privy to information. The consensus has been that if the person is deemed worthy of it, they can have it. So I dunno, maybe bring some old equipment you don't need anymore and if he turns out to be a cool guy with his heart in the right place then let him have it?
  6. My first tattoos were matching tribal thingies on my hips. I was 16 years old, without parental consent. The tattooer asked how old I was, I said 16, his reply: "well guess what today is your 18th birthday!" 4 years later I got them covered with a rose with wings. That tattoo is now 7 years old, pretty faded and needs some re-doing but it's still better than the original ones. My second tattoo, done by the first guy's apprentice a few months later, is a tribalish lizard that covers my whole foot and ankle. And it's all black. It looks like it's 50 years old, and not in a good way. I am planning on getting laser removal and then covering it, but who knows, I may end up never doing that.
  7. That really is the worst. I've had a couple where after the first line i was like oh shit this is gonna end up awful. In retrospect I shoulda stopped right there. Now that I've got these shit tattoos I realize it would have been better to have one random line on my arm/leg/whatever than one fully done awful tattoo that can't really be fixed or covered. Luckily I was able to fix one of these, the others I will just have to deal with. I've gotten to a weird point where I'm really scared to get tattooed by anyone, because I've even had some amazing artists make stupid mistakes (like for example i want a red rose, i end up with a yellow one. this isn't real but it has happened to me with a different design). I haven't been tattooed in a long time and am planning to wait and only get tattooed by people I really trust from now on. Anyways totally off topic, sorry. Dars and stots forever.
  8. I know someone who did it.... it looked horrid. The person who did it was a shitty tattooer so that was a large part of the problem.
  9. My dude's arm, all starred and dotted. I think it looks good on just about anyone. It's very very very important to get someone who knows what they are doing and to do your whole arm at once. If you don't you'll end up with different sized stars which can look stupid. I'd recommend finding someone from Inksmith and Rogers or Smith St. These are my arms with no filler, that will soon be remedied once I get my one elbow and my wrists done. Both of us also have small things thrown in with the filler, like initials, numbers, little designs. I much prefer stars and dots to shading. To me shading just looks lazy almost. Or like the client wanted a bigger space filled but didn't have the money to make the tattoo larger.
  10. Just a note on the comments about the boob, in real life a woman's breast should naturally fall between the shoulder and elbow. If yours don't you're probably wearing the wrong size bra! I guess I learned a few things in fashion college that I can use in the real world..... For me, when I am painting a lady head or pin up I use Ochre for skin tone, it's like a lighter brown/tan/sand colour. I don't know if anyone makes an Ochre tattoo ink but I imagine if not it would be the same as using a lighter brown. Brown mixed with orange or yellow maybe. Speaking of brown I've also noticed some old timers use black mixed with red in place of brown ink, way to dark for a pin up though.

  15. @CaptCanada yeah actually you're right, @truejew has a point here. I didn't really think about it from that point of view. I just assumed it's another asshole teenager who's just doing something cause it's cool... We've all been there...

    Walking Dead

P.S. for anyone who's missed episodes of Walking, or just hate commercials and watching things on TV go to STRIKE GENTLY and search Walking Dead or just click the TV link at the top of the page and you will find all the episodes from last and current season for download or streaming. This is where I watch almost everything that isn't on shitty Canada netflix. P.P.S. That website is not safe for work as there's LOTS of porn mixed in with all the tv, music and movie leaks they post.
  17. @truejew the whole point was someone trying to trade a service they are not yet fully trained and experienced in for a service that someone has put years and years and years of their life into learning. Not an equal trade by far. Maybe Deb would trade tattoos for laser hair removal or tattoo removal but I bet if she did she's be trading to someone who has a legitimate business and not some random student that she doesn't know. I've traded my artwork for tattoos in the past, and those people seemed to be happy to accept or offer the trade. I would never offer to make someone's wedding dress in trade for tattoos because even though I can execute the task I haven't spent the last 10 years or more perfecting that skill.
  18. Very true.. I guess since I don't frequent scratchers I don't know what kinda stuff they have hahahaha... Either way I do feel like parents are very detached from their kids these days and being at work is just another excuse to not practice real parenting. I don't really want to get into that whole argument in earnest though because a) it's a huge can of worms with very strong opinions from most people and b) i don't have kids of my own and never will !
