  1. I try to take these questions in stride because most of the time the person is simply curious about the tattoo(s). I get it almost daily in about every scenario (coffee shops, dr's office, checkout at Home fuckin' Depot, etc) you could imagine, as I'm sure is the norm for most heavily tattooed people. I attempt to be brief, vague, and polite about my tattoos' "meanings" (essentially that some have meanings, some don't, and that it's ok to just get a tattoo because you think it looks cool...yadda, yadda...)and carry on about my business. Usually, this works and I can finish paying for my latte. Unfortunately, one out of three times the person doesn't get the hint and segues into a long explanation of how they have this idea for an awesome (insert anime character here, etc...) half sleeve. At which point, I usually ask if I can get my chips and queso anytime soon.
  2. thanks for this, scott (and co.) the forum has been a really helpful resource and great way to connect with other tattooers and collectors...cheers!
  3. blackheart's doing the pre-party again this year. thursday the 20th at cafe du nord...
  4. wasn't in town long enough to take healed photos at the shop - this one was taken here at home. i'll be in town for the SFO show again this year and plan on stopping by blackheart so scott can get some decent healed pics...

client's bulldog is extra attentive when he gets tattooed....so he wanted a doctor/bulldog tattoo...
  8. getting my back done was intense, especially the outline session. lower back and love handles were the roughest, and there were times i thought my solar plexus was about to pop through my chest from the force bearing down on my back - strange sensation. probably the itchiest tattoo i've experienced, though it may just seem that way b/c of the coverage involved. 1st couple of days of healing i got this really weird goosebump/chill/spasm thing that would randomly happen hard to describe but really funky feeling. so worth the discomfort, though - i'll catch a glimpse of it in the mirror and can't believe it's finished.. gouge - have you picked out an artist yet?
  9. lochlan, i think a LST meme contest should happen post haste. based on the previous two examples, i anticipate sheer keyboard wizardry of epic proportions.
  10. While visiting some friends in Seattle I was lucky enough to try a few of the RR sours - Supplication + Consecration, I think. I've been trying my damnedest to try as many sours I can get my hands on, which is not easy in the beer wasteland that is Texas. Monks and Petrus are quite good. Rodenbach Grand Cru and Duchesse de Bourgogne are also pretty tasty. New Belgium Lips of Faith...not so much. It is impossible to get the Russian River stuff down here. I'll definitely be on the lookout during SFO convention.... Last time we were in SF we checked out the selection at Toronado, which was pretty impressive. I seem to recall the Origin Pomegranate ale by Schmaltz Brewing Co being a particular standout...
  11. been meaning to get a healed pic of this up. scott sylvia started this one on me (outline + shading) last fall SFO convention...finished a few weeks ago. craaaaazy fast and scott was a real gent - got me in for an additional session 2nd day to finish up. totally stoked with how it turned out and the overall experience in general...

  15. Hey Dari, Sorry I was slightly distracted and did not formally introduce myself yesterday. Yeah your hubby really lit my ass up! I'm incredibly pleased with the outcome, of course. If you're around tomorrow, I'd love to see what Jondix started on your arm.
  16. Rad! Wilson and stell are aces. Hogg, please feel free to introduce yourself if you're around today. I'm running around with a Judas Priest looking Jodorowsky shirt and black and orange vans hat...
