  1. I had a not the same, but similar type of experience with a tattoo I was kind of embarrassed of after joining LST--because it was a stereotypical printed-out-from-google-images solid black stock image of a lotus...certainly nothing that would get anyone excited here... But when I went to Spider Murphy's last summer, 3 of the tattooers were looking at my tattoos and I had to show them that one because it was directly under what I was going to get from Paul. Paul --and the other guys specifically said they liked that one. I was like, "really??" They liked that it was solid black and the simplicity of it and thought the placement was good. They liked my arms, too, with my more recent work from Memoir, but it just surprised me that they said such nice things about that one. That's one of the things that makes the shop experiences so good. If you are only on this forum, you might think all your work has to be this or that...but the more time spent in different shops you realize, it's all good. My black lotus was done at an L.A. street shop and the guy did a solid job.
  2. I might see a "bad" tattoo and think, "oof" and feel a little bad for the person. But I wouldn't say anything. I remind myself who am I to judge? I do love looking at good and great ones though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Cool, @polliwog, and I like your new avatar!
  4. um, not just @Pugilist, @ironchef! You have one of the most amazing little creatures on the planet.
  5. I think it's pretty simple, an asshole is an asshole no matter the setting. Glad it's getting you business though @smiling.politely! It pays to be cool.
  6. Ha, I posted that on the metal thread a couple days ago and nobody responded except my own hubs. I'm with you -- I liked it! Great pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. @Eilin is getting one, too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! Yeah, I think it's a good idea. Don't you just love this place for all the encouragement? I know I do!
  9. aw man, couldn't "like" that post, but you'll get better and get the tattoo, it'll be ok!
  10. I'm so excited. I felt like our cat, Aurora, needed a friend. I got @DJDeepFried to agree last night (and once I got the green light from him I acted fast) so today we adopted this little guy. They named him Cream Puff at the Humane Society but I think we are changing it to Horitomo, Tomo for short. Petfinder Adoptable | Cat | Domestic Short Hair | San Gabriel, CA | Cream Puff He's the one on the right in the photo. I can't wait to take some more photos of him once he's in our home! We have to wait until Tuesday to bring him home.
  11. Totally side-tracking the new contest, but when I need to see @Lance 's feet.... @KBeee, I just type "Horitomo monmon cats" in google images and they pop right up:
  12. Congrats on your arm!!! As for your question, I have relayed all my ideas to Horitomo and am just waiting to see what he comes up with. There was a lot of "I like this, and I like that...and it could be this way, or that way..." I'm leaving a lot up to him so I don't really know for sure what I'm going to get!
  13. I don't know if you guys know or like any of the metal bands in this link...but since so many like metal, tattoos, and cats... here are some metal dudes with their cats: Metal Cats. @DJDeepFried and I are friends with one of the guys in Lightening Swords of Death, he's not the one from that band pictured in this but he did take care of our cats for two weeks a couple of summers ago and he left a sweet coloring page/crayons package for our daughter to find when we got home. Death metal guys can be awfully sweet. But I won't tell anyone. Metal Cats: Hardcore Metal Musicians Pose With Their Cats | Bored Panda
  14. Yeah, I had thought "nothing on my legs"... until my arms just got finished and I decided my leg would be the perfect spot for that Horitomo tattoo I need.
  15. Just until June! While I'm taking over this thread...anyone have a lodging rec for San Jose near the shop?
  16. Have to wait until June but that's okay, hell I just got tattooed on Saturday. Need to save up!
  17. DEPOSIT HAS BEEN SENT!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the all caps. It's not really yelling so much as jumping up and down!
  18. Oh wow, just saw the little babies playing with each other. And the mom and the dad were both there. That is pretty amazing!
  19. Yeah, or in documentaries. Spencer Briggs's arm briefly flashed across the screen in Tattoo Nation, because it was done by Chuey Quintanar. I saw Spencer last month and told him how cool it was that his arm had a starring role in the movie, and he said, "My butt, too!" I had no idea, never having uh seen his butt while he was tattooing me. He said a client took a screen shot and texted it to him.
  20. His is not the only LST butt on our bookshelves.
  21. Spent about 6 1/2 hours at Memoir with Kim yesterday and I think we finished this arm. She did a little more outlining and shading all over, and added a little misty shading background. I love it. Will post healed pics in a couple weeks.
