  1. Okay this is kind of awesome. For those with kids (or maybe for yourself) there is a really fun free app called "Video Star". You can play a song and make a video to it using different simple effects. This was our first attempt at making one w/our daughter singing along to her favorite song, "Ghetto Love" by Spinnerette: "
  2. damn, so many of you got tattooed over the weekend and they all look great! I have to wait until Friday for the second session on my arm tiger. It has been the longest 4 weeks waiting....
  3. It was Cher. When I was a little kid (in the 70s) I idolized her. I found out she had tattoos and thought that was cool. Haha. But I had forgotten that until just now. I wasn't thinking about her by the time I actually got my first tattoo. I just read this quote by her: "When I got tattooed, only bad girls did it: me and Janis Joplin and biker chicks. Now it doesn't mean anything. No one's surprised. I got a tattoo right after I left Sonny and I was feeling real independent. That was my badge."
  4. get this, cheap & waterproof:
  5. You might also want to look into: Dark Horse, The Original True Tattoo, Unbreakable, Memoir...
  6. I don't really understand the question but I do find fault with the negative view of artists--I've always respected artists. Many of my friends are artists. My sister is an oil painter, and I would hardly call her flaky. She works hard and is a perfectionist. Does she work on her own time table? Yes, she is fortunate enough to be able to do that. Her paintings are beautiful. She is not raking in the dough but finally in her late forties is beginning to carve out a living for herself selling her artwork. I am a teacher. I have never considered myself a tradesman. I do agree with you, I have to work day in and day out--always performing, and I don't get to set my own hours. There is also a degree of creativity and performance to what I do. Basically, I respect anyone who works hard, whether they are an artist or not. As for who I get tattooed by--I will choose good artists who are also good tattooers...
  7. Is this the one? @DJDeepFried posted that on my mom's FB page, just so she'd know some doctors may be covered in tattoos and she'd never know it, and it doesn't mean they can't save your life. She wrote back something about that would be fine, and then asked if I had put him up to it and talked about what a bad influence I am on him, haha.
  8. Cool, Lochlan, I just saw one and "liked" your comment... (Janet Glazer)
  9. Thought this would be good in this thread (the link shows a woman with large tattoos showing when she wears shorts and a tank top, and the same woman dressed conservatively for work with none of the tattoos showing & a short comment under it: "This one's for all the clients that want their tattoos tiny and hidden even though that’s not what’s best for their design idea. When you get the tattoos you want you will tailor your work attire appropriately.") Dermagraphique: A Tattoo Critique • This ones for all the clients that want their...
  10. That is one fascinating dude. :D
  11. Crazy. He was probably just trying to find out if you are gay so he could make a pass at you.
  12. Geez, I just did a quick search on Den Yakovlev with the term "racist?" and got several results that say yes he is a proud self proclaimed Nazi. Maybe you can't believe everything you read? But hell no, I personally would not want to give him business regardless of how good of an artist he is. There are plenty of not so hateful tattoo artists to choose from.
  13. Welcome, and as Duffa said, just post the pic and/or an explanation of what is going on in this thread...
  14. I love these by Chris Conn, too: Photo by sekretcity • Instagram
  15. oops, looks like I posted nearly the same thing on this thread twice without realizing it...only they were a year apart so the number of tattoos has gone up! Maybe I should post it again next year and see how the numbers have changed... That's cool--what did you and your wife get for your matching tattoos?
  16. Hm, I thought he meant our Stella was too young to get the reference... Back to Gigi--I have some realistic black & grey roses & a tiger on my arms... but I got them here in Los Angeles: memoir tattoo ©2010
  17. She gets that all the time so we showed her the youtube of Marlon Brando doing that scene. It's such an emotional scene but she thinks it's hilarious.
  18. Ireland is a place I've always wanted to see. Hm, well, we finally agreed on the name Stella for our daughter (now 4 1/2). Others on my list were: Sidra, Lydia, and Violet... For a boy I had wanted Anton and DJ wasn't going for it, good thing we had a girl. Welcome!
  19. We don't watch it for the drama or imagine it to be "reality" but I think that since we are not in the industry and we don't get to be around tattoos all the time, we just enjoy watching tattoos being made. I love Gypsy Gentleman and Tattoo Age--wish those were the shows on TV. But we are just junkies for anything tattoo-related I guess. Except tattoo school...it's just 100% unwatchable. At least all the other shows had occasional good tattoos and sometimes accurate commentary, and yes, Oliver Peck is entertaining and cool. The worst thing about Ink Master type shows to me is the stupid "teasers" and how they re-play certain scenes again and again as if they are that interesting. I would prefer to see more close up shots of the tattoos.
