  1. Machine. At one point @DJDeepFried stopped by to visit and asked Horitomo, "So just machine today, no Tebori?" Horitomo looked at me and said, "You want Tebori?" with a little grin... I was like, "Nah, I'm good!" I would have gone either way, he chose machine and I am more than happy with that.
  2. The only thing keeping me from being an actual crazy cat lady (or, well, having more than 2) is my sensible husband. But I sure am crazy about the 2 I have and all the ones in my past. I was in the shop from 11am-4:45pm. The tattoo itself probably took 4.5 - 5 hours with one short break in the middle. Team LST! Anyone on the fence, get off the fence and get to SOG!!! I couldn't even picture how the design would look with all the stuff I had mentioned and he found a way to put it all in and make it so elegant and beautiful. What a talent. @Fala, I thought of you and felt bad about getting mine first... but you will get there!
  3. Us poor girls are currently suffering through hotel room service breakfast in bed, *sigh*...how could you! [emoji477]️ [emoji6] Not looking forward to the long drive but we can do it! [emoji123][emoji133] [emoji594][emoji168] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Well this has been a great experience! When I contacted SOG in March, I emailed some ideas/elements I wanted to incorporate along with a photo of my black cat and my leg. I referenced a couple of elements from his book like the cat's expression on one page, the skinny snake from another page, and peonies. When I got there today I finally saw his drawing and it was just perfect immediately! Love at first sight. He used machines only which was fine by me. I love the way the cat and snake seem to be eyeing each other suspiciously with narrowed eyes... And here I am on the hotel bed with my feet kicked up watching ET. Stella is beside me wearing her new monmon cat (t-shirt) nightgown. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. So sorry. May her memory bring you joy even through the sorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. My brother failed his first one for "proceeding with caution" through a yellow light. Instructor told him he was supposed to stop. On my test the guy asked if I was wearing lead shoes. And I drove up onto the curb a little trying to parallel park. It was kind of a disaster...but somehow I still passed. You'll get it the next time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. So sorry @SeeSea. It is so hard.
  8. Thanks everyone. PHEW. He is back home and eating voraciously...
  9. Yesterday was harrowing. We had a couple of wires sticking out of a rickety old outlet. @DJDeepFried had put plastic caps on the wires with the plans to get it covered soon, but we kind of forgot about it because we don't really need to plug anything in up there. Tomo, our little love, was playing around yesterday morning and bit the wire. I was right there at the time and noticed the fur standing up on his tail. I tried pulling him away but realized his mouth seemed to be stuck to the wire. I pried his jaws off of it (did not even think for a second about the possibility of me getting electrocuted, just had to get him free, and luckily I did not get zapped). He went kind of limp in my arms. I started freaking out screaming for help and crying. Doug (aka DJDF) kept it together... Tomo opened his eyes and was breathing and Doug could feel his heart beat. Doug found an emergency animal hospital nearby and we got him there pretty quickly. He did not have any mouth damage but x-rays showed fluid in his lungs. He had to stay over night with oxygen, pain meds, and being monitored, but last night they said he was looking good: alert and eating. We should be able to bring him home today. Oh my god, I miss him, he would be on my lap right now. :( Outlet is now covered. Looks like this is going to be a $2,000 lesson, but that sure as hell beats a losing our baby kitty lesson.
  10. Looks cool @Euchlid! Panthers and skulls are pretty popular design choices, too, but that doesn't stop anyone.
  11. Hmm, well, where I stand on this issue is.............. tattoos > ham But then I am a tattoo-loving vegetarian so the only ham I enjoy is my daughter.
  12. This review drives me nuts. It's the one 3-star review surrounded by all 5-star reviews for Memoir: As much as I would love to give a great review, my experience was somewhat of a struggle with Memoir. It was very difficult getting an appointment set up with Kim and getting in touch with her assistant. I sent an email via her website and emailed directly. It took about a week or two to hear back. Kim's personal assistant emailed and left me a voicemail on my cell so I called back several times and left messages as well as email but never received a call back for a number of days. I was very eager so I continued to call until I got an actual person on the line. When I finally got someone on the line, I was able to set up my appointments. Unfortunately, a family emergency came up and I had to cancel indefinitely. I asked if I could get my deposit back and her assistant said she would find out if I could since it was "non refundable" (didn't see that posted anywhere on her site, nor was I told). I still haven't heard back about it. As far as I can tell Kim is a great artist and seems very nice. I was very much looking forward to getting something done by her. I realize she is very popular and in high demand. I have no problem waiting but the process does need to improve. It strikes me as odd since Kim doesn't have an assistant... Maybe she did in 2010, I don't know. They don't even have a front desk or receptionist at Memoir. They all do their own booking. I don't think they have a central phone--they request that you email, then get back to you via email or phone. But more importantly, how can you review a place that you didn't even go to?! Why would she get her deposit back if she bailed on the appointment, even if she had a valid reason?! This is why they have deposits, so their time isn't completely wasted in these situations! Grr. I'm sure everyone who reads it overlooks that one so it's fine, just annoying.
  13. holy shit @semele, now that's a giant ass flower alright...and an amazing whole back piece!
  14. Yeah, I'd say if she loves it, awesome! If she doesn't love it, or starts having regrets or wishing there was more to it or that she got something else, she could save up for an amazing artist and get a cover up or addition to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Sorry @SeeSea, she's beautiful. :(
  16. After 12 years of teaching at my current urban elementary school, I just got hired at another urban elementary school! It is smaller and cleaner, and two of my friends work there. I'm a little nervous about the change--the principal tells me he is "very demanding", but eh, maybe that's a good thing. And my mom told me I wouldn't be able to ever get a job at another school because of my tattoos. I wore a long sleeve shirt to the interview suckaaaaaaas. :p
  17. You have been gone for a while @else, I've been wondering how you were doing, nice to see you back!
  18. I am getting my first leg tattoo this month!!!!!!!!!! Planning to wear knee length skirts and pedal pusher shorts during the healing, so no fabric sticks to it, it can get air, and I can look at it all the time! I will be on summer break so won't have to cover it up for any reason. Yeah! Pretty excited...
  19. Yes, honey, it's all about you. You win the side photo contest! Congratulations!!! You win the ultimate prize: getting to look at my arm all the time, you lucky dog. :p
  20. Yay, thank you! While there weren't a ton of entries this month it was still tough competition with amazing tattoos. I love my tattoo so much and I'm so happy my name can now say "Contest Winner" under it. :D
