  1. Yes, I had similar scabs on my script tattoo and they developed really quickly but it took longer for them to peel off than on my other pieces - three or four weeks maybe. Stay calm and heal on :)
  2. Welcome! Nice tattoos, especially the birds :)
  3. I have one question for you, experienced healers :) Do you find any difference in rewrapping efectivity and healing process between linework and colour (shading) work? I have healed only watercolour work with it so far and it worked wonderfully for large areas, they peeled like sunburn. But I have a small area with lines there and they didn't peel at all and it seems to me that they didn't settle yet (3 months). The small text I healed traditionally settled better. But it could be because of the placement and many other factors. I was just wondering what the general consensus is, if some method is more useful for particular technique and some for other. Also, I have noticed that more and more tattooers in my country discover rewrapping and have very good results with it.
  4. Eh, these unwanted opinions... I like this statement: "opinions are like bu**holes, everyone has one but I don't need or want to see it."
  5. Welcome! The cats are amazing! I have one tattoo on my inner forearm and it's that kind of watercolour tattoo which is "cute" and "is it real or is it just drawing?". I'm going to get tattoo on my arm (shoulder to elbow) in the near future and somehow I perceive it much more as a commitment than that forearm tattoo.
  6. I made two appointments today for April and May for my shoulder-to-elbow tattoo. Excited. I consulted with the artist today very briefly mainly to see if she is interested. Proper consultation on February.
  7. Very nice bird tattoo you have, @marley mission. The more I read through this forum, the more I appreciate the traditional tattoo. I don't think I ever get one, but before I didn't like it at all and now I like it on other people a lot :)
  8. I will use this thread of mine for babbling about my planned tattoo. The tattoo will be of creatures from Sandman comics. In upper part I want to have gatekeepers of Dreaming realm - wyvern, gryphon and hippogryph (it has a horse head here, not eagle). The wyvern of shoulder cap, the gryphon and hippogryph on sides of shoulder cap (will take up a part of back and collar), all with heads looking down on Morpheus in the shape of cat (from A dream of a thousand cats) who will take central part of my arm. Below, just above an elbow will be Desire in the shape of a cat pretending to be an aspect of Dreamlord, looking up on Morpheus. It sounds complicated, but there are only five characters and the style is not really detailed. I will try to get the consultation with the artist next week.
  9. Sounds like good fun to me :) As for me, I finally resolved a problem who will tattoo my shoulder-to-elbow and how the tattoo should look roughly. I have an appointment on January 8th in my favourite studio to finish cover up of my phoenix and I hope I will have a chance to discuss it with another artist from that studio. I'm happy I finally settled, I wasn't sure at first, then I tried to contact a freelance artist whose work I like, but it takes her months to just simply respond to the e-mails, some people have waited since August (!). Seems like pretty bad time management to me, no offence. Not that she is an elite artist, I just liked the style.

  11. If I were searching for the honour tattoo design, I would pick something less obvious, maybe something we had loved doing together or they had been passionate about. Something that symbolizes them rather than names. My friend has stylized portraits of her parents in oval frames on her feet, looks very nice.
  12. I was working in translation agency when I got my first tattoo, tribal phoenix about 30 cm long on my upper back. I was the person who had to open the door for the customers and visitors and my quite old and conservative boss had no problem with my tattoo to be visible. I could even wear tank tops. My colleague had piercings and huge earrings, she had her back tattooed too and dyed her hair pink, blue etc. It was really cool job. In the current job I do mainly back office work but sometimes I have to go to the front shop to deal with customers. I tend to cover my forearm tattoo because I don't like strangers asking and pointing at it. Part of our customers is quite conservative and rigid and I don't want to cause a stir. But sometimes I forget :) We are really small collective. All my coworkers know I have tattoos, my boss has no problem with them. He even put cream on my back when I had my back covered up recently.
  13. I just sent e-mail to my future artist, that I would like to start working on the tattoo on my arm (from shoulder to the elbow, but no sleeve, I haven't really good skin on my inner arm, I think that it would look bad). The theme will be cats that have appeared in Sandman comics. Maybe other animals too. Mainly black lines, some shading and hints of colour here and there.
  14. Hello and welcome. I don't see anything wrong about getting multiple tatoos. I have two birds, I plan to get third - the owl too. I would love to see your owl tattoo :)
  15. Aaah, the book thread! I'm quite into books, reading about 100 books per year. I love urban fantasy and fantasy mixed with fairy tales and legends. My favourite is Neil Gaiman. Is there anyone with Goodreads account? I would appreciate new friends there :) Right now I'm reading (among others) The Etymologicon by Mark Forsyth. It's "a must" for all word- and English-geeks.

  17. I'm kinda like the asymmetry, I plan to have most of the tattoos on my left arm and my back. So far I have one on the inner forearm and one on the upper back. I want to connect them with one tattoo on the outer foream and some kind of abstract flowing design on the upper arm (not sleeve). The whole thing will constist of bird motives and will be colourful (partly watercolour, I know that most of you doesn't like this technique). The right arm is empty for now, I have in my mind some Sandman comic motive and I want to have space for that in the future, since it is mainly blackwork. By contrast, I don't want to have legs tattooed almost at all, with an exeption of foot (rather one than both).
  18. I haven't have much spots tattooed yet, but the least painful was definitely inner forearm, I could easily sit for two more hours. Some parts of my back were easy too (I say SOME, the rest belongs to that other thread). What I really hate are pauses, because my skin has time to realize what is happening to it and the tattooing again after a pause stings and hurts much more.
  19. I can hardly believe that I found only this one book tattoo thread, so forgive me if I searched badly. I have one bookish tattoo, the text Mind the gap in Neil Gaiman's handwriting below my inner ankle. It's from Neverwhere. It's also a symbol of London for me. I'm thinking about getting another bookish tattoo, this time blackwork reproduction from Sandman (yeah, I have a thing for Gaiman obviously). I would love to see your bookish tattoos :)
  20. January appointment - finishing the cover/improving of former phoenix tattoo on my back. Then sometime in spring (depends when my artist will be guest in the town) - owl on outer forerarm.
  21. My mom likes my tattoos, she doesn't like the pain I cause to myself with them. When I went to get the first one, I left home with moderate sized picture. The result was twice as big as the picture, because the tattooist quite reasonably refused to tattoo medium sized phoenix on my large back. She almost fainted when she saw it, but more out of the thought of pain I had to endure :D She is my first caregiver and always washes and creams my tattoos patiently. Other relatives are too distant to matter. I regret only that my granduncle is blind, I think he would enjoy looking at them.
  22. I have never heard about re-wrapping untill my last tattoo. I'm not much experienced, but now I can compare several methods. First tattoo - tribal phoenix on the upper back, suggested healing - wrap for two hours, then put the wrap away and wash and cream it regularly. Result: slow healing, very thick scabs and plastic tattoo, almost scar-like. The tattoist had quite a heavy hand too. Second tattoo - watercoloured bird on my forearm, suggested healing - wrap till evening (done at the morning), then wash and let be. Cream not before the second day, then according to tightness and itching. Result: scabs were less thick, got down faster, the surface of the tattoo is very smooth and even. Very gentle tattoist this time. Third - small text on my inner ankle, suggested healing - same as with the second. Result: very thin scabs, but they held quite long. Fourth - watercolour improving/cover of the first tattoo, quite large. Suggested healing - re-wrapping for at least two days with regular washing and changing the wrap. I managed it for 48 hours with changing 3 times a day. Result: redness lasted longer than usually, very itchy tattoo for three days, but almost no scabs, just thin layers of skin peeled, like a sunburn. Half of the surface peeled down within two days, for me it is really fast healing. I cannot say much about colors and surface as it isn't all settled yet.
