I'd be tempted to report them to whatever board certifies them. I don't think a doctor needs to have had cancer in order to diagnose and treat it.

My regular doctor saw my sleeves asked me if I would be OK with taking my shirt off to show him my backpiece. I said sure. He and the nurse just stared like deer in the headlights.

If a doctor tells you to laser that off, get a second opinion. Hopefully your dermatologist will be tattoo friendly. My dermatologist loves my tattoos.

You can't fix that. The lines stripes are uneven. As others said, see someone that specializes in coverups and don't ever go back to whoever did that. It's not going to be cheap.

Especially not GOOD artists. Would you go into a restaurant and ask the chef to cook you up something and if you like it maybe you'll buy it? Good artists are busy making money.

Allergies are thrown around a lot on the internet, but if you look at the medical research done into this, someone actually being allergic to tattoo ink is pretty rare. Some people post that they are allergic if their new tattoo itches while it heals. @SStu brings up a good point - if you were allergic why would you have a reaction in one place and not in another. There was a thread not to long ago where someone posted pics that kind of looked like what you have. I forget what the doctor said it was, but you might want to search through the threads to see if you can find it.

No, I got your point. You're not getting mine - the general public doesn't know crap tattoos from great tattoos. I doubt 1 in 100 people would notice what you're talking about.

This may be a bit over the top. It may not be a great tattoo, but I wouldn't be embarrassed to show it off. If anyone has the ill manners to say anything, you can just say it's not finished, no need to explain further. Considering so many disasters I've seen, this doesn't even make the top 75% of bad tattoos. Just my opinion, but I'd try to find something you like about it and focus on that while you are healing and finding someone to rework it. I would remind you that many of the people on this forum have extremely high expectations (as they should). For the average person on the street, you have a bad ass tattoo. Find someone really good at coverups. Not that you want to cover this up, but someone experienced at coverups is probably your best bet for getting this as good as it can possibly be. They won't be cheap.

Very unlikely that a few seconds of hot water is going to ruin a tattoo. All you can do is wait.

You won't know what the tattoo is going to look like for 4-6 weeks after you get it. No need to worry at this point.

What are you going to research? Either you want to pay the money or you don't. Better to pay more than you want than less than you should. It sounds like you want to use this artist, you just need to talk yourself into it. Go for it; I've never gone first class and wished I hadn't, but every single time I cheap out I'm sorry. One thing I won't cheap out on is my tattoos. I learned that from other people's mistakes.

Does this person who said the rose will blow out know anything about tattoos? That's a really odd statement. Simple tattoos are easier to read. The more you add, the harder it will be to read, but you should really get what you want. Listen to your artist, what makes a good image doesn't necessarily make a good tattoo.

Run Forrest, Run!! Just my opinion, but I would let that heal for a couple of months and start looking for someone experienced in coverups. It's going to take time, laser and money, but I think you can save that.

No. I think you should leave the artist out of this. Tattoos are a commodity like any other. You want one from this person, you pay; just like if you want a Mercedes S Class, you pay more than for a Toyota. We can't always afford the things we want when we want them.

How do you "go behind" a tattoo? If you have an artist, a design and a plan, why are you asking for more opinions here? Do you have a sketch of what the artist is trying to do? Any links to his work? You said this was a coverup that went wrong. It doesn't sound like it's done so what went wrong?

You can't cover over that big black tattoo with a water color tattoo. As @SStu suggests, start some laser treatments. This isn't going to be fast or cheap to fix. DON'T hurry, find someone really good at coverups and be prepared to spend some serious money. If you don't, you'll make an even bigger mess. That is a big honking black tattoo on some really delicate skin in a really public spot, so it's going to take someone really good to do something with it. Good aint cheap and cheap aint good.

Just my opinion, but two weeks in I'd leave it totally alone. It takes 4-6 weeks to heal and there is NOTHING you can do until then so I'd just relax and wait to see what it looks like when it's healed.

Ideas? Quit stressing. There is NOTHING you can do about a blowout. Enjoy your tattoo. That is fine line work on thin skin, the most likely scenario for a blowout.

It looks like it's still healing. Try leaving it alone, no lotion. Those bumps look like you over moisturized it. I'm very fortunate that I don't have much itching, but when I do it's usually one or two weeks after I get the tattoo.

Yes, blowouts can happen no matter how skilled the artist. The thinner and more delicate the skin, the greater the chance of a blowout.
