  1. thanks for the responses. It's about 1/2 inch above my wrist bone. my obsessive compulsive nature has stuck again :-)
  2. note to Miley - increase security - exponentially.
  3. Is there a standard place where the sleeve ends? I wanted to be able to cover my sleeve with a dress shirt, and my artist stopped it exactly where I asked, but now that I've lived with it for a while I'm thinking it might look better a little longer. I'm probably over-thinking this (like I always do). So I'm asking the experts, where does the sleeve end? Thanks!
  4. I don't feel like you were attacking me and if anyone brought negativity to the forum it was me. In re-reading my posts, I think I was too harsh, but unfortunately I can't delete the posts. I need to learn to think a little harder before I post something. Not that Ami cares what some guy on the internet says about him, but I feel bad that I came off like I did and can only offer an apology about that. I won't try to fix it as I'll likely just continue to make things worst. It's too bad they can't have a show about tattooing without all the made up drama. To someone who has been a part of the tattooing culture for a very long time, the daily mechanics of giving and getting a tattoo may seem old hat, but to someone relatively new to tattoos, it's very interesting.
  5. That's too bad. Sometimes it takes longer than that for me to realize I've posted something stupid! :-)
  6. A few clarifications - first, I thought the drama on the show was horrible, the tattooers, except for Ami, I really liked, regardless of their personalities. I didn't say Ami was bad, I said I don't think he's very good. I think there is a lot of ground between bad and average, but I guess not everyone makes a distinction and I could have been more precise. The tattoo you are showing is good and he did a couple of good tattoos on the show, but I also saw a couple that I didn't think were very good and some I thought were average. When I looked at the quality of the other tattooers, I don't think Ami was as good as them, again just my opinion. I used to watch Miami Ink and I didn't like a lot of the tattoos he did on that either. All just the opinion of some anonymous guy on the internet.
  7. I wouldn't get work from an ass-hole, but I have to trust someone to let them work on me and I don't trust ass-holes, regardless of their reputation. I don't get the whole walk-in thing myself. I decided on who I wanted to do my work and went from there. I just wait for an appointment. But then I'm an anal-retentive, obsessive-compulsive, over-thinking ass-hole, so that may have something to do with it.
  8. Yup, she was on New York (st)Ink. I don't know how Ami got two shows. I don't think he's very good and he's about as boring as they come. The made up drama made LA (st)Ink seem like a Shakespearian masterpiece.
  9. Maybe it's too early or I need my glasses, but that thing is VERY hard for me to read. After looking at their site, who would WANT 5 hours of their ink. Pedestrian and unimaginative tattooing at best. Maybe their slogan should be, "You could get worse!"
  10. No, but back in the 1990's one of the guys I worked with saved a spreadsheet and it was so big it wouldn't re-open. We had to double his memory from 8MB to 16MB and it cost several hundred dollars!
  11. I've just let him do his own thing and it's worked out great. I'll post pics when I get it done. Next appt. is July 7 with a follow-up August 16 and probably another couple after that.
  12. Jesse Tseronis at Sakura Tattoo in Winchester, va. Sakura Tattoos | Sakura Tattoos
  13. I can't wait to see that finished. It already looks awesome. I'm having Jesse add a chest panel to match my sleeve. I was thinking about a hannya mask, but decided to leave it up to him. I know he'll come up with something great. Of course this puts off adding color to the sleeve, but my main concern is letting him get the flow right without worrying about me be in a hurry to get to the color.
  14. Just a joke. Everybody makes mistakes, some people just pay a higher price for them. A guy steals $100 from a liquor store he goes to jail for 5 years, a guy steal $100,000,000 from a bunch of poor working stiffs and he gets a million dollar pension.
  15. Maybe he can get them touched up next time he's in prison. That shouldn't be too long!
  16. I tried the search feature, but didn't find what I was looking for. Who really nails Religious Themed tattoos in the general Washington, DC area? Not restricted to Christian themes. I would go farther afield if necessary, but would prefer to stay within a couple of hours driving distance to the DC area. OK, I'll drive as far a needed! Thanks!
  17. Nothing wrong with Koi, I'm working on a Koi and Koi-Dragon sleeve right now.
  18. I don't see many foo dogs. Octopus and Hannya masks are a little more common, but still less common that Koi and Dragons.
  19. Sorry, can't answer that one. I've never had a scab. Finally putting my anal retentive nature to good use with my after care.
  20. Wait until it heals and then get out your ruler! At my age when I think something isn't perfect on my tattoos I just take off my glasses and then everything looks fine.
  21. My brother had one of his friends working for him. The guy developed a drinking problem and after numerous warnings my brother had to fire him. The guy and his wife were really mad, telling my brother what a prick he was and how he let his friend down. I told my brother that if that ass hole was REALLY his friend, he wouldn't have put my brother in a position where he had to fire him. You're not the bad guy, the jack ass that makes you lay down the law is the bad guy.
  22. Anything that TV didn't teach me I can learn from the internet. Isn't Kat Von D the best in the world???? Now, let me tell you what my tattoo means to me ... my mother died before I was born and my father abandoned me before I was conceived, but this tribal koi riding a skull and fighting a dragon tattoo will make everything all right!
  23. Some people are just douche bags. Regardless of any friendship, your tattoo artist should be treated with respect and your appointment should be treated as a business transaction. Try showing up at your dentist, doctor, lawyer, mechanic's with no notice and ask them to drop everything to help you. A lot of professionals charge people who don't show up for appointments, and they should. When you bail on an appointment you are taking money out of the artists pocket and leaving him unemployed unless a walk-in happens to show up. That's not how you treat friends.
