  1. Haha I've definitely never considered keeping track of how much I've spent. However, some new guy at my boyfriends work saw my boyfriends arms and said "Nice ink! how many hours ya got on you?" We had a laugh at that one and then decided to see if we could figure it out. Needless to say there were some that we really couldn't remember how long they took. Are there really people out there who keep track of how many hours they have on them?
  2. I agree, everyone at Hobos and congress street are great. I got my very first tattoo at Hobos and Tony Sellers is a good friend of mine. I try to stop in whenever I happen to be in New England.
  3. I had a kid come in today who had printed out a reference picture at home then took a picture of it with his phone to come in and show me. Ughhhh when I asked him why he didn't just bring the actually picture in he said because the picture was in color and he wanted it black and grey so he changed it on his phone. Really dude?! Do you think I don't know how to turn something into black and grey!? Beside the fact that he could have even just printed it black from his computer. The picture of a picture just looks like complete shit. I couldn't even make out what the damn thing was supposed to be. I was of course polite and just asked what exactly it was he wanted and told him I would just draw it up. I feels really good to vent though. I am so sick of people coming in and showing me their phones. Its just so lazy
  4. Stopped into Cathedral Tattoo yesterday and got myself a spur of the moment birthday banger from the talented CJ Fishburn.
  5. Kitsune! I feel like those aren't nearly as common as I think they should be. I really love them. Foo dogs are always a great choice too.
  6. Here is a picture of the tattoo I have from Zach. He has a better picture of it on his website. [/img]
  7. Ugh, a barcode?! Hopefully everyone else getting excited about their awesome tattoos will help change her mind. I've seen people show up with bad ideas and then end up getting something completely different and awesome. Then again some people are just too stuck on their idea of they think they want. This is why i'm glad I waited until I was 22 to start getting tattooed or I would have some stupid shit on my body. I'm super Jealous! and can't wait to see what you get!
  8. Thanks! I enjoyed reading that. I've been tattooed by Zach and he is a really nice guy and fun to talk with. I plan on getting more work from him in the future. I love his style and how he doesn't add any unnecessary bells and whistles. Just straight up honest tattoos.
  9. Check if there is an utrecht store anywhere near you or you can just order from them. I don't really like dick blick and Utrecht usually has good sales going on. They also sell 12 packs of Dr. ph martins (i think they are about $65 which is decent). They have a good paper selection and all kinds of pens and brush pens as well.
  10. I like those circular plastic ones that you can pick up for about $1. I have a bunch of those and I think they are great for mixing colors and they are really easy to clean. I used to use individual caps but it was just so much more work cleaning all of them. You can pick those up at Michael's for cheap, but everything else at that store is kind of overpriced crap.
  11. Check for an art store in your area. You won't have to worry about placing multiple orders if you forget something and if you have any questions about any of the product, the employees should be able to help you out (hopefully). You will save on shipping too.
  12. I was 21 when I got my first tattoo. I'm glad I waited until then or I would have some really stupid shit on my body. My boyfriend had gotten a few tattoos from Tony Sellers aka Fat Tony at Hobos Tattoo in Portsmouth, NH. I really wanted to get one so my boyfriend took me to go see Tony. I told him I wanted a rose on my shoulder and just kind of left it at that. He showed me one that he had in his sketchbook and without even really looking at it, I said sure. I remember being so nervous as soon as he started to tattoo me that I was shaking. It was so bad that he had to stop and wait until I calmed down. That rose is still one of my favorite tattoos that I have. Tony has since become friend of mine and I highly recommend him if you are ever in NH.
  13. I know I had seen many tattoos before this, but this is when I really took notice/interest and started to really become aware of tattoos. I was in fourth grade (so 9 years old I think). I was at my friends house and her heavily tattooed biker uncle was visiting from out of town. I remember sitting on the couch next to him and just looking at his tattoos and asking him all sorts of questions about them. My biggest concern was how bad they hurt. I remember him telling me they hurt really bad (probably just trying to scare a 9 yr old girl away from wanting to get one haha) he said the most painful one was on his foot and he showed it to me. It was a native american anklet with beads and feathers that went down over the top of his foot. I thought it was so cool! After that I remember I would draw tattoos all over my barbies and dolls. Who knew that one day I would actually be tattooing people :o

  15. I mostly use Dr ph martins, I really like how smooth they dry. I have found I have hard blending the black though so I just use a tube black that also stays workable longer. I find the tube black is kind of dull after going over it with color so at the very end i will go over all the black again with the ph martins but keep the nice gradient from the first black. (I should probably just work on figuring out how to blend the ph martins black better) as for lining I used to use a fine lining brush and liquid acrylics and then I switched to nibs and now I just use pigma micron pens. I also used to use liquid acrylics a lot but not so much anymore.
  16. I have that octopus on my leg, I love it because it has nine tentacles. Anyway, I've seen a lot of butterflies on some tough dudes. There is a waiter at a breakfast joint i frequent, with butterflies, horses, flowers and some other tough stuff. My favorite on him is a bumble bee with a skull head. He doesn't look like a sissy at all. My man has been wanting to add a seahorse to his leg. I told him to give it a horn and make it a seahorse-acorn. He thought it was a great idea. I'll post a pic once he ever gets around to getting it.
  17. Hahaha Oh My God! SO MUCH WRONG! What an idiot
  18. Very well said! I can't tell you how many people in my area this applies to.
  19. I finally uploaded pics of my new tattoos from my trip to Arizona. They are in the May contest thread. By the time I got back home to Salt Lake, they were already crispy/flakey so I had to wait.
  20. I also got this one while I was in Arizona. It was done by my friend Tony Sellers while he was visiting Immaculate. It's a Mando Rascon lady.
  21. This one was done by Aaron Coleman at Immaculate Tattoo. It is a Richard Stell design.
  22. After Hanging out at immaculate for 2 days. I definitely heard some really great stories from stell and he had me cracking up a lot.
  23. Was that you I was talking to in the shop yesterday? I need to post mine from Aaron Coleman. It's the Stell leapard from the Stell/ Coleman collab sheet. I had originally picked something else but Aaron really wanted to put that cat on someone so I ended up getting it. I won't be able to post it until I get back to salt lake tomorrow. I got pretty mando lady from my friend tony who was also doing a spot at immaculate
  24. Nice! I'm sure I'll be at the shop pretty much all day. See you there!
