I have a tiny-ass tattoo on the back of my neck--it shows all the time because I have short hair (when I got it I had hair down to my ass of course) but nobody has ever treated it like a big deal, though it does generate more stupid questions than anything else I've got. My fault for getting something in a foreign alphabet. It seems more on the level of a little wrist tattoo than something more in your face like the side of the neck. It might be different if you have the WHOLE of the back of your neck covered, but if people are gonna stare at me like a three-headed peacock, it's never because of that one.

Stephanie lined the rest of my Quetzalcoatl dragon at Saved yesterday. Stoked because it's an awesome, huge tattoo, and now half my squidpants are done. It's maybe also a little bittersweet because I'm officially running out of real estate now. Cannot wait for warmer weather and shorts season!

What is the etiquette on a situation like this? Would it be creepy to approach someone and say "hey, I think I saw a picture of your piece on instagram/facebook/lst/etc, artist xyz did it right?"
I'm not an expert on etiquette by any means, but I've never minded the couple times it's happened to me.
Anyway I look exactly like this.

I agree with @slayer9019, I wouldn't want to wear jeans during the healing, I live in skinny jeans normally so I'd imagine that'd do nothing but piss the new tattoo off.
Skinny jeans actually worked kind of well for me last time around--they're tight enough that they don't rub the tattoo like regular jeans, but don't cling and get stuck to it like tights or leggings.

I have an appointment with Grez in July.
Me too! Do you know what you're getting?

I'm personally grateful for the built-in filter that my tattoos provide; I have enough now that the guys who don't like 'em mostly don't bother to approach me. Narrowing the dating pool a little isn't necessarily a bad thing--a whole category of "not good for me" I don't have to worry about!
My current boyfriend has no tattoos but has seen me through about half of my collection, and has been pretty supportive of it.

My next appointment with her is the 20th!!!
Exciting!! If you're still around that Friday come say hello!

I found this photo the other week, but forgot to put the artists name etc on the file before I saved it so if anyone knows so I can give credit please feel free to give the heads up!
I should also add it's most likely NSFW, but it does show that with some good placement, a young lady could easily get a bad ass Pharaoh's Horses ;)
I have a bad ass Pharaoh's Horses on my chest! I should get a healed photo of that one one of these days.

All of you make me feel like such a wimp about the inner arm.
Mine killed too, the second time.

It's a good thing I don't live in Austin! At the rate I'm going there's no way I could afford it - I'd have a full bodysuit and be sleeping in a cardboard box.
That's exactly how I feel about New York, except I'm still on my way to a full bodysuit and a cardboard box. Good thing cardboard boxes in Ohio are dirt cheap.

this is what my brother got yesterday from frankie caraccioli
I love his tattoos.

I don't think I limped for more than a few days, but when I had the outside of my right leg tattooed, it took almost a month before I had a normal-sized ankle again. Cankle doesn't even begin to describe it. Legs are weird I guess.

I made a really good Mexican pork stew last week as well from a recipe in Rick Bayless' Authentic Mexican cookbook. It was so good.
Was it the tinga poblana? That is my all-time favorite recipe. Love that cookbook in general.

Ron and Stephanie are two of my favorite people in tattooing and I love that tattoo. What are you getting from Stephanie?
Thanks! I'm getting a giant Quetzalcoatl dragon from her--the head is right on my knee. She posted a bunch of designs back in December and I immediately wanted one. She's an awesome person to get tattooed by.

Here's the little Bob Wicks piece I got from Ron Wells last weekend. The day before Stephanie Tamez lined my knee (ouch!). Hell of a fucking weekend. Photo from Ron's Instagram.

You're getting a lot of tattoos from Ron, right?
Two so far. I have a black rose from last summer, and just got some Bob Wicks flash from him.

So far my home shop is 765 miles from home. Took 2 long road trips in less than two months to get work done. Totally worth it.
Totally worth it! I think I'd feel that way about certain places I schlep to if I hadn't lucked out and found someone I liked a bunch here. I just got back from one of those long trips myself.

I'm about fifty-fifty. I have a local tattooer that's done about half my work, and I travel for the rest. I like to have a home shop.
