    Hello

hi @llap17 welcome trying to follow your questions here...first things first, just relax and let your body do its thing to heal. how old are these tattoos? tattoos superficially heal within a month but it may take several months to heal below the surface. tattoos in high mobility areas ie ditch, elbows, hands, ankles, etc will take longer to heal and are more prone to scabbing. the first tattoo - i can see the black area is looking a little crusty but it's still healing. if it's been a couple months mr.tattooer probably went a little rough. give it more time time. the remainder of the tattoo looks like he went too shallow IMO from the faded look of the lines and dots on the bottom of the tattoo. maybe its the healing and the photo quality IDK? but can't tell what the tattoo is supposed to be of aside from the inconsistencies. the second tattoo - if its a coverup, your bud is tattooing thick black over scar tissue. so it will be a little raised. that's ok, again just let it heal. some tattoos you can feel them raise, depending on different variable ie your body response and how the tattoo was made/applied, that's just part of the game and the risk. some people (myself included) will notice tattoos get extra raised depending on weather. everyone's body and skin is different. don't worry you're not going to die or lose your arm. just keep getting tattooed. maybe try someone new with a little more finesse in making the tattoo. cheers
  5. hello @HelloJo keeping healthy is important aspect of the healing process IMO. personally, i'm training my kung fu 1-3 days after I get tattooed. i just throttle my training, ease up and be aware of limitations in mobility and contact. Especially you don't want to overdo it by force-stretching out areas where the skin has tightened from the healing tattoo. I don't think you need to wait 7 days...you could return to your practice earlier as you feel comfortable. perhaps try a different form of yoga where they don't crank the heat...the heat and sweat could make any scabbing soggy and lift the scabs prematurely. try wearing a long sleeve sport shirt so your sweat is wicked away from the area. good luck, happy training happy healing :)
  6. hey what is the difference between the standard and special edition? (just curious, the special ed was sold out when i went to preorder)
  7. shit, i just order a copy. expensive but when i saw the list of 100+ who's who in tattooing i figured it was required for my interest in tattooing. besides i have limited room for new tattoos, might as well fill the bookshelf with more tattoo books!

    Hi

eh welcome bud nice tatts, that fudo sword down the torso is deadly !
  9. will add...2 months the tattoo is only superficially healed. usually takes about 6 months for everything to really settle underneath the skin.
  10. I've experienced something similiar...but the discomfort was never anything so bad and unbearable that it prevented me from doing my day to day shit. it was more just intermittent itchiness for several months...just wanted to scratch and scratch like a dog with fleas. not sure what the cause was, it settled down over time and my leg didn't fall off. so that's good haha! I speculate that it may be the homebrew ink my bud was using...or chemical reaction of mixing inks (when he mixed the green and white, that shit bubbled like a school volcano science project in the cap)...or my body reacting to the pigments? I don't know. but I just sucked it up and scratched ... that green ink is still BRIGHT AS FACK. then again, i'm in this ongoing cycle of getting and healing tattoo and I'm just used to always feeling like a lizard. maybe try soaking in an epsom salt bath ??? good luck ps nice octopus tattoo
  11. the forearm (inside and/or outside) is primo real estate ... choose wisely like a 2" long line vector with a triangle point? such an insignificant design to tattoo IMO unless you're going for a high-school binder doodle look, i mean to each their own... i've seen stylized arrows (yknow bow-n-arrow arrows with arrowheads and feathered tails) run along the length of the outside forearm. consider something shot up to hell with arrows https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Sebastian here's where the 'shot with arrows' design and symbolism originated from.
  12. the ankle...holy that was a real bitch of a spot to get tattooed. here's another photo of this creepy crawler i received the other day.
  13. @9Years siiick tear-out, love it! (tear outs eh...idea from upcoming contest?) @Rob I damn what are you feeding that thing? panther is ripped n shred'd, love it! @Graeme such a great masher tatt, love it!

hello mr banana man @dotjpg the survey is pretty unobtrusive, no harm in answering - I recommend you cruise around the LST forums. These questions have all been answered with more analog responses coming from peoples actual experiences. to really understand tattoo you need to have your own experiences. good luck with your school project.
  19. ah the ol' Rule of Nines ! thx for bumping this thread ...i estimate I'm at least 80% ... checkboard man claims 95% ... i dunno you tell me on a side note...i started my 2nd layer yesterday ! so to answer the original thread question, nah I'm not bummed at all the closer i come to "completion", it isn't bittersweet at all. In fact very much the opposite. Now there is another dimension and this stage in my tattoo project and that is new layers and density. The more I get tattooed the more I realize that my tattoo project/journey is not at all about the finish line but about the moments/events/tattoos along the way - just like life...yes, birth and death but life is about living - the events and moments in between.
  20. Hey Darren ... just leave it alone and let your body do its thang to heal. Hands are stressful to heal. When I got my hand done it looked like I had the flesh eating disease for a couple weeks and was really stressed out about the ink drop outs and scarring. And then once the rough healing period was over it was fine. So relax, baby your paws for a few weeks and let the tattoo be a tattoo. Cheers bud
  21. My warrior of a wife got a wolf tattooed by Jessie Beans yesterday at Classic Tattoo in Red Deer AB. And holy chit mang...right before she left in the morning I gave her a pair of warm wool socks, wished her good luck and reminded her don't be scared to go bigger. She came home with one hell of a one-shot tattoo on her thigh. Thoroughly impressed by the tattoo and my wife's spirit !
  22. (1) What is your perception of what last sparrow tattoo Forum is today? I still believe LST is one of the few pockets of the internet where the community really takes the tattoos and tattoo experience seriously - despite the wave of dumbed-down posts. LST reminds me of what BMEzine was back 15+ years ago when I discovered a curiousity for the taboo counterculture. It is a good archive of quality tattoos and information on the subculture but also a good forum for a community of knowledgeable and passionate tattoo enthusiasts around the world. That's why I've stuck around. People that get tattooed because they love/hate it! Not just because they want a tattoo as a fashion accessory. (2) why do you participate? LST gives me a space to discuss tattoos (my own and see others) and discuss the tattooing process and the concept of being an illustrated person. I don't really get an opportunity to do that in person outside of a tattoo shop. No one cares haha! Like oh yeah budd got another tattoo...um ok so what...LST people share your excitement, share your pain haha. LST gives me a chance to promote the good tattooing local to my area but also I get to see/read what else is going on around the world in terms of what the community is getting made on them and what makes for good solid tattooing. Also gives an opportunity to share our collective experience with folks that are new to the tattoo counterculture and approaching tattoo with sincerity. And a dose of real-talk when the bullshit starts watering down the forum. (3) what have you gained from it? A better understanding of why I got tattoo in the first place and continue on my path with my tattoos. LST has given me a forum to express and explore my tattoo journey - for myself and to share with the community here. Tattoo has always had this "too-cool" vibe to it. Maybe that's what drew most of us in in the first place? I feel this forum helps break down those barriers and just get to what's what - tattoo. I try and take that away from LST and apply that to the in-person real world. I've gained some friendly internet stranger acquaintances. Supportive and enthusiastic tattoo kin-folk ! Even if it is just a "like" on the 'gram, I know the LSTer on the other side of the country knows whats up! so thx. (4) what do you think will make it better? More passionate tattoo collectors, less tattoo-tourism. More honest discussion. More sharing, less jabs - this isn't reddit !
  23. @oboogie nice one, unique style for a doggie tattoo. dog tattoos are the best !
