  1. Jesus you guys have kicked off the new year in style
  2. I have my next backpiece session 5 days before i go to see Black Label Society in concert. That was not the best piece of planning i've ever done! Think i'll be planting myself firmly away from the pit for that one
  3. Is anyone picking up the Royal Tattoo 30th anniversary book? Seems like it'll be a good one. 100 euro until the 28th of Feb, then the price goes up HENNING J&OslashRGENSEN: The Royal Tribute
  4. Finally got around to watching the subtitled version, awesome stuff. The whole thing has a very relaxed feel so it comes across natural, more of a fly on the wall kinda thing rather than you poking your nose in to someone's business and getting in their way. Makes me want to go to Blue Arms even more than i already did! If there's anything you want to do video-wise when i'm next over i'd be happy to help (not sure exactly how i'd help but that's another story!). Anything to get more of these vids in the world!
  5. Backpiece appointment number 2 with Marius Meyer booked in for Feb 9th. Flights and hotel all booked up, bring that shit on

    Fitness!

I can't argue with that man, any chance to get in to the great outdoors usually i'm right on board with ya. I've got a close friend who runs 10 miles a day and i'll never understand how he can do it, but it's all just personal preference i guess.

    Fitness!

If i'm being really honest with myself it's just an excuse not to run - i absolutely hate running! Even in the gym i'll hit the bike or the cross trainer over the treadmill all day every day. Don't think i've actually used the treadmill once.

    Fitness!

Man, i can't imagine running on a hard surface in 5 fingers. I have a pair that i use for kickboxing and the gym but every time i even walk on concrete i just think "these things are never hitting the road".
  9. + 1. Saw that on IG this morning and it made me sit up in bed to take notice.
  10. Big fan of the self titled album by Royal Blood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6GhA5bULnA Also Once More Round The Sun by Mastodon I'm sure there are others but those spring to mind immediately
  11. Oh god, this reminds me of a story i heard from one of the guys at Frith Street (i won't say who, not my place). Anyone who's been to Frith Street will know it's not the biggest of shops (they've moved the counter now to create more floor space, but this took place before the move). You walk down the steps, open a door and you're staring right at the counter, with probably 4 people tattooing 4 feet in front of you, and an area for clients to sit around on your side of the counter. From what i recall one of the non tattooers in the shop was talking a couple through some options for a tattoo - at this point one of the resident tattooers comes down the stairs, walks past this couple and notices that the guy is... how do i phrase this tactfully... allowing his hands to fly south for the winter. He must have been pretty discreet to hide it from the people on the tattooing side of the counter, but i mean come on! Who the fuck behaves like that! I'm pretty sure neither of them got a tattoo that day
  12. Don't want to speak too soon but i think i've got away really lightly with this tattoo. Barely had any itching at all and i'm now a full week after the session - plenty of peeling going on but so far it's been a real breeze. Used bepanthen for the first couple of days just to help everything settle down, but i've used nothing for the last 4-5 days and felt just fine.
  13. Healing a backpiece while having a job that means you're sat in a chair for ~10 hours a day, not exactly fun so far. At least i haven't started itching yet
  14. Awesome x 2. Looking forward to seeing both of these play out
  15. Yeah, i can't believe anyone can find shading worse than lining! All i could think through my back being lined was "the shading is going to feel almost nice after dealing with this". I've got a relatively small amount of single needle stuff left to sit through and i'm dreading that way more than the several hours of shading.
  16. Likewise man, thanks to you and your lovely lady for helping make my trip so great (Kinda wish i still had a bit of that curry stuck in my beard!). Looking like i'll be back your way late Jan/early Feb although i haven't set anything in stone with Marius just yet, but i'll be sure to let you know.
  17. I'm extremely glad i didn't go for the whole ass coverage. The top part was bad enough so i can't imagine what it feels like further down. With regard to sitting for longer sessions, the travelling side of things was a form of motivation for me - i got on the train in Oslo at 08:00 GMT this morning and one bus ride, one flight and a drive later arrived home at 17:00. If i can tough out longer sessions and reduce those kind of trips by 1 that'll probably be a good thing (although i wouldn't exactly be devastated to get a chance to see Oslo once more!). Edit: Oh, and i had some pretty decent painkillers that might have helped a bit, although i can't be sure. I'm gonna take them again next time either way! @Graeme i winced at the thought of having to repeat the lining! I feel for you
  18. Thanks man, it is indeed on me! I have a new found appreciation for the signature quote someone has on here about the ass tattoo being a "searing pain"!
  19. Cross posting from the latest tattoo thread, this is after session 1 of... i don't know how many... with Marius Meyer
  20. Just got back to the hotel in Oslo after having Marius Meyer blast me for 4 hours or so. Shout out to @Iwar for being an awesome tour guide, host, driver... really the only way he could have made me more welcome is by offering some hand relief. Maybe on the next trip!
