    The sleeve on my left arm goes slightly into my armpit and while it didn't feel especially bad during the tattooing, it swelled up and healing was unpleasant because I couldn't comfortably hang my arm by my side so I was walking around like a half-scarecrow for a few days afterward. That said, discomfort in getting tattooed and in healing that tattoo aren't important in the long run. I would rather get my feet tattooed. I'm waiting for the right opportunity for those with the hopes that my work boots won't fuck them too badly.

    It depends on what you mean by interfere. A full back will extend into the area where the dagger would be, but the design could easily be worked around that. A lot of backs have cover ups and compromises worked into them and they can still be amazing, powerful tattoos.

    @rufio This will be your first tattoo, correct? Let your tattooer know that you'll be travelling and starting a job involving physical work and ask if he or she has any special advice for healing concerning that but otherwise follow your tattooers aftercare instructions EXACTLY.

    Is that the guy who did the tattoo you posted above? If so, I'd suggest reading this thread and looking for another artist because that tattoo is rough.

    It's so rad. It has a devil head, a lady head, demons, and a thousand eyes. The print is great too, it's a discharge print so it won't crack after many washes and it's a comfortable shirt. I recommend getting one.

    The thing is, I was snarky in that first post but otherwise I was trying to start a conversation that would hopefully get people thinking about how they contribute here. I've had my balls busted on here plenty of times and as humbling as it is to hear somebody you respect telling you that you've posted some bullshit, it's a valuable learning experience. Anyway, the thing about being married to a moderator is that I have somebody often in the next room telling me not to be a dick on here because it makes her job harder if she has to hand me a warning.

    I'm not trying to run you off here, but you know how you said how you feel about this place sometimes? When I joined up there were a lot of great tattoo artists posting here, serious and experienced collectors, people like me who lacked a lot of experience but we're eager to soak the discussion, the interviews, the stories. Now I feel that this place has lost most of that richness and when I instead see threads about the weather...it's grey paint, man. I've learned a lot about tattoos from here and this place has heavily influenced how I get tattooed and I hope I've managed to contribute something positive to the site in return, so it bums me out to see yet another completely uninspiring post or thread that contributes absolutely nothing to the purpose of this site, which is to educate people about and promote good tattooing.

    Totally agreed with this. The article is infuriating, but of course it is because it's literally trolling. If that woman wrote instead about how she got the tattoo she wanted later that same day after being declined at one shop, Jezebel wouldn't be getting the clicks and the revenue that comes from them. So fuck 'em, don't read this shit because it only serves them.

    It looks like it's supposed to be bonji but is drawn so poorly that it's like showing us a jumble of lines and asking us what they're supposed to read. There are a lot of tattooers in Texas (I assume that's where you're from) who do excellent Japanese--heck, the best person who does arguably the best Japanese tattooing in the U.S. is in Austin--so your friend should go to one of them because your drawing is frankly terrible.
