I´ve been chatting with Timothy Hoyer, Brian Bruno and Chris O´Donnell on email, and I am going to NYC/Virginia with @Ninab and our son next autumn. Really looking forward to get tattooed by these guys

Take it from an old salt: This is an insult on your body. RUN! This is like a boyfriend that tells you you're too fat, thin, breasts are too small, that YOU are not good enough, and that YOU need to conform to his standards.
Let's rephrase this: "You're getting kind of fat. Would you stop eating so much if I put on a few?" See the change in language? Reconsider if this guy is a real champ.

When you get to that point when you realize you can, it's liberating.
Think about it this way--do you respect shallow people who judge others based on something that is skin deep rather than what type of person they are? Do you want to make decisions based on what people like that think?

I had to do a thing that scared me earlier this summer... I was totally freaked out about it... nearly chickened out and didn't do it at all.
And then I changed clothes into something that showed "Steve" (my knee tiger).
Steve is so tough, he makes me feel 10x tougher when I can see him. I skated through my scary thing no problem...
Reading this, I think it sounds weird, and people will probably think I'm a nut... whatever.

I just re-read this thread and it reminded me of something funny. The first tattoo I showed my parents I had a much nicer reaction than when I show them newer ones. I usually get the "Ok, show me the new tattoos." When I visit. Although I can say they are getting much more bold, and bigger.

Most of my work is pre-85. Short list, tho'.

My daughter was in town a couple weeks ago and we went out to lunch together. I showed her all my new tattoos and she made a comment to the effect of "it's a bad idea for young people to get a bunch of tattoos, but someone as old as you can get as many as you want because you won't live long enough to regret it". So funny!

My Mom has known that I've gotten "a few" new tattoos recently, but yesterday at my sister's graduation the legs made their first public debut.
My Mom's jaw dropped when she first saw them!!
She asked a lot of questions the big one was "are you going to get more?!?!"
Later, my husband asked "What did your Mom think?" I told him that I thought she'd been a little bit horrified - my brother piped in from across the table "A whole bunch of other people's mom's were horrified too!!" LOL!!
My Mom eventually said she thought they were "nice" and "colorful"...
which I think means that she kinda hates the tattoos but loves me anyway.

My latest is only a few hours old. Is this the first LST-themed tattoo? If it is, I also know who got the second (only moments after me):

The first pic is what I started with and is a 10 year old tattoo. The other 5 are fresh. Sorry for mirror pictures. Nick was great and fast. I kept apologizing cause some spots were really painful, felt like a wuss

You made the right move Pete.You may spend a little more money,and have to drive a little farther,but in the end you'll have a much better tattoo.

Sitting at great Lakes right now waiting for my half sleeve drawing from Nick. I had an appointment elsewhere today, and I showed up and the guy said he wasn't in the right frame of mind to tattoo. Called Great Lakes, Nick said no appointment so made the 2 hour drive. Hope this turns out well. Excited, nervous all in one. Hope there is an atm close by in case my cash is short.

My posting is very limited, been here since last April, and this is the first I've been able to.
Federal Pre-Release/Halfway House, most of the residents are coming off multi-decade bits, so there is some real wild tattooing. I posted some elsewhere, and will try to get some more, but it's a fairly major violation to get caught with a camera, or taking pix.
A year, no big deal.

Definitely plan on it. I'm doing field research on jailhouse tattoos for the next eight months, but as soon as possible, I'll be there!
The scope and quality of the work offered is, as we used to say, a trip.
