  1. Tomorrow I have some super long hours coming in the chair. Getting a full back cover done and this is the third time back in two months. First time healing for the outline was good. I had around 8 hours of outlining done and was pretty sore. My artist suggested for the outline, not to touch it for a full two days. Just let the swelling go down under the armpit area and then on the second day, to wash the outline lightly and leave it for another day. By that time, the outline had started to heal and a little BP was applied to it.

Within 5 days all was good.

The next part was my upper shoulder area and that was close to another 7 hours doing the skyline. My artist suggested just to wait until the plasma had started to leak out later in the evening and then to damp this plasma off with anit-bact wipes (non-scented dry wipes that are hospital grade clean). He was kind enough to give me a small packed of 10. Once the plasma is lightly patted off over a period of a few hours, just leave it to the morning. In the morning, a light very HOT shower and again, wipe/pat dry and let your body heal for another 12 hours. Shower HOT again, pat dry and at that point, a very light coat then of BP as the area by that time will have started to dry out and heal.

By the 3rd day, just shower again, light coat of BP and the peeling process with myself in this case started, no scabbing at all. Repeat to day 5 and by day seven, good as gold. Colors are rich and I was happy with the process.

My artist was very firm to me about the first few hours after the work was done. Do not touch with unclean hands (wash hands very well with AB soap), and to get that plasma off the tattoo as he said, that forms the scabs. Seemed to work for me very well.

This time I am getting a fair bit of blood reds for Japanese infrastructure done an some people have said the reds can be a real bitch to heal. Lets see what happens...

Brain cramp or Noobie question - What is BP?

  2. Thanks for all the advice.

She is on board w the tattoo - she is just concerned w the size.

I'm not hiding anything or sneaking around

But I am gonna get this sucker!

I like the idea of her showing up an hour or so into it for support after it outlined and no changes can be made.

  3. Ok, so big is relative right?

Im figuring that the tattoo I am getting on Saturday is going to be most of my left pec.

Im pretty excited for it and am welcoming having a larger piece on me(4x4 - 5x5 ish).

here is my problem, my wife is going with me to get the tattoo and will be sitting with me for the first half hour/hour or so. (basically until she gets too antsy).

She has already subtly hinted "I hope its not going to be too big"

I replied, I think its going to be bigger than you expect.

    so here is my dilemma:

Is the artist going to be put off if my wife starts fiddling w\ the size of the tattoo? (Johannes seemed pretty level headed and very cool in our meeting and over email).

Im guessing he may have to change the size anyway as he didnt measure the space he has to work with.

Do I uninvite my wife to the sitting?

or am I just freaking out a little bit here?

I priced everything pretty well. Even looked at trains and buses. The method that gets me there when I need to be there for an acceptable cost happens to be renting a car. Plane would only be about $200 more expensive but I would also have to take a cab around Cinci as well. With the car, I can run my own schedule somewhat and be able to get around in the city. Just wish it wasn't that spendy.

Ive rented cars recently w\ Priceline and Hotwire and got much better deals than going through the rental agencies, and ended up getting cars w\ the larger firms (alamo & avis).

  5. You'd hope that they would review the artwork before the stencil is cut, just to screen out the gross errors... like that spelling glitch one artist had.

This right here is a problem w\ this show.

You send lambs to the slaughter. People want to get on TV for just a few minutes and they end up branded w\ a mistake.

I do watch the show - its like a nascar crash - you cannot turn away.

  6. here's one sent to the facebook page for our shop. mind you, at this studio we all take our own appointments and nobody is in charge. management is completely hands off. "Hey there, looking to get a half sleeve based on the solar system. In dresden so not far from berlin till the end of February. Any chance this would be possible?" i don't reply to things like this, it hurts my head to try to figure out how this could work.

Whomever manages your facebook account should respond to this, in some form or fashion.

Not everyone is familiar with how your shop runs its business, so if a potential client is contacting your shop, someone should respond w\ your shops protocol for making appointments etc.

I know tattoo shops have a different business model and typically different clientelle, but if you have a facebook page - that is now a part of your shops business.

  7. I know Kentucky might get a bad rep. but there is a great music, arts, scene here (i'm right outside of Cincinnati). It's a great state and I'm proud of it. If anyone has been here you know the stereo types can be true, but there's a lot of cool shit going on here too. Come on out I'll show ya a good time! I also have 2 Kentucky tattoos! 1 is the state outline and banner that reads "Home Sweet Home" on my ribs and on the back of my arm I got a Horseshoe and Cardinal that reads "Kentucky Straight" I''ll post pics sometime. Us fellas here in Kentucky still learning how to use computers n' such
