Quick question regarding Tegaderm/Saniderm.  I ordered some from Amazon but I won't be getting them till Monday.  I was tattoo'd on WED but ran out and only could cover my arm partially.  Will it be ok to apply the tegaderm a few days later after using just ointment.

it should be fine,I actually don't apply saniderm until  about  the first 24 to 48 hours after the tattoo was applied, most all the plasma/liquid has oozed out by then,I leave it on for 4 or 5 days after that.

in that first 24 to 48 hours don't forget to scrub it in warm with the palm of your hand water a few times a day with an anti-microbial soap too.

also before you scrub with your palm be sure and wash with that same soap, like this \/ soap.jpg

after each wash I use clean new paper towels to pat dry the tattoo before using cocoa butter(which is what I use) but whatever you like to use.

and before you apply the saniderm, make sure your skin is clean, dry, and ointment free.

There are a few local artists that have a waiting list that is 3 months or longer. These are the best of the best, at least what I like in a tattoo. Some shops have the front desk person, which you have to get past to even talk with the artist you like.

Show that you're serious and willing to be flexible. Every shop is run differently. Most require a deposit on artwork which is a commitment. Once you do book, find out if you can move up your date if someone cancels. Shops don't like down time.

I was  on a 12 month waiting list after giving a deposit one time.

I gave the artist the basics of what I wanted, but I didn't know what the artwork looked like until I got to the shop a year later the day of the tattoo.

New addition to my "bird collection". Done by Pavla (Poppy Tattoo) during her guest spot in Prague. The photo is hers.

Concerning the watercolor tattoos and their ability to hold, I can now compare the 2 year old tattoo with this new one because they are placed right next to each other. The older one still looks great and vivid. But I have very pale skin, and I almost never sunbathe.

I love the mix of watercolor & geometrics.

    Agreed.

It was one of those spontaneous tattoos and didnt prep right. I think that was miy biggest mistake. I would of use saniderm my self but I just didnt plann this one :D

yep ! LOL I have several of those spontaneous ones for sure  !

@xcom as a matter of fact, there is a Friday the 13th this coming january, and finally I am going to get a "13" and a horseshoe on my lower right leg,my bday is the 13th of oct,so it's about time I got a 13 tattoo ! I don't have much room left on my legs so they will be smaller pieces.but it should be fun.

@BrickyOdin cool work you got going on there!

As for my self, I am going through a tough time with my knee. So far it has been my roughest healing. I am on day 8 and finally the knee feels some what normal.... There is a quite a bit of scabbing even though I did my best to avoid it (lots of good cleaning, etc...) Knee sucks... Worst than my foot for sure.

interesting, both my knees healed very nicely,I did use Saniderm on both which worked great.

just goes to show how different our bodies are regarding tattoos and healing.

Welcome, Miranda! You are much more experienced than I am - but it seems that the majority or your scabbing is where green ink was applied. It could just be your skin's reaction to that specific color of ink. My last tattoo had some scabbing - my first didn't - and I followed the exact same routine for aftercare as I did the first so it's probably not anything you've done. Just follow your routine...and leave those scabs alone!!! I bet it will look great when it's healed.

I agree, some inks will react differently on different people, looks like normal healing.

    and welcome Miranda ! action-smiley-069.gif

Damn! I'll have to figure out another way to do this then. Sorry!

Edit: Okay, so zeroed out you vote and changed up the poll. Please submit your vote again @AverageJer

    works fine for me :)

    or maybe not :(

ok so you have to bullet hole all the " Check this if you voted in another panel! " in all the other panels plus the vote you want  then submit.

  8. LOL there are no hidden messages in any part of my first post, what you see is what you get with me,  I am just curious about this story you are telling.

I am legitimately mind blown that you didn't know that a tattoo was put on you,

do you mean that maybe you were drugged or something ,and you were unconscious ? even if that were the case, you would still have the after effects and healing that you would have known about.

sorry but this sounds bizarre to me.confused-smiley-001.gif

  9. hi and welcome,

I am confused, are you saying that someone put this uv tattoo on you without you knowing it ?

and unless you walk around everyday with a " cheapo black-light you can buy at any Staples " shining on your neck, who cares anyway !?!?!??!?

Wow - this really highlights what happens when we assume something about others as well as the need to communicate. It would be easy to blame her for the lack of communications, but it's clear that her parents were also not communicating on a close level, too.

ya,cool isn't it ? really thought provoking on many levels IMO.

Appointment booked January 24 with Sarah Hurst @ Vivid Tattoo Knoxville. She will correct the faked line on my arm. This will be almost a week after I return form India, and I don't know which one is more anticipated!

So, I've gone a little crazy lately. I already had an appointment in December with Chauncey "CK" Kochel. Then I made my appointment with Dave Wah in January for the Austin convention.......well, my wife and I decided we needed a vacation.....

So, we both have appointments in February with Freddy Negrete at Shamrock in LA. After that, I swear I'll slow down.

    that's cool !

my wife and myself got tattooed at a convention together at two different conventions this year,we had back to back appointments by the same artist at each show,it was a really great time to spend together getting tattooed.

My wife also recently had two large tattooes done by 2 different artists within two weeks of each other,I had 4 done this year ,it's been a busy year for us too ! it might sound sappy, but both shows we went to and got tattooed at was a real bonding fun time for us.
