I need to stop reading this thread. I want to start on my torso soon and keep coming back to this thread reading it over and over getting sicker feeling with each reading. My palms are sweating as I type this. I just have to remember each time I get tattooed its not as bad as I think it will be.

If a fight breaks out in the random picture thread i'm going to be pretty sad.
    Guys,
THIS IS THE RANDOM PHOTO THREAD. We have been posting exactly that. No one should be taking offence to anyone else's photos. Get the fuck over it. It's a random photo you happen to not like. So just don't click the like button and the post a photo you do like to make it all better. There's no point in anyone saying this picture belong and this one doesn't, that makes it the not so random thread of photos that are totally PC and won't offend anyone. Get the fuck over it.
This message is not directed at any one person. I like you all.

There's too many he has done, it seems like he does at least one in every place we stop... But, it's one of our favorite tattoos... I am proud of the Knee Tiger he wasn't perfectly happy with it, but... that's how he rolls.

    Hey Mask0311,
First off, I would love to see everybody sportin great tattoos wherever I go but unfortunately there are fewer people out there "keepin it real" and if I go to WalMart I can see a store full of bad tattoos these days.
As far as this guy "blowin you off", it's an old game, as old as it gets with "runnin' the scam", some will spot you and size you up to start something at a high price that they never intend to finish when they have a string of butterflies they can knock out and make more on when you may have already paid in advance, basically you will get shuffled to the rear like you got treated at the 9pm bell. NYC went crazy with those scams when it opened tattooing back up and on this subject I could go on and on.
As far as the tooth hurting thing, RUN!!! should have been your instinct and this leads me to tell you that there are tattooers out there who relish a challenge of turning bad tattoos into good ones, so don't worry about having someone else drive over the mess you have started.
As far as your expecting better treatment/respect for being home from the military, your absolutely right, the military has always been our staple in tattooing and when everybody's home and the wars are all over we will miss that amount of biz and it goes from steak to pork chops for us tattooers and this is not to mention that there are those of us out here that understand your service to Uncle Sam.
So, as far as "keeping it real" and to prove that not all of us are like this disgrace to our trade I will fix and finish your dragon at no charge with the stipulation that you provide the steaks that I will personally grill for you at my country home where I have a rifle range that I will provide 500 rounds of ammunition for you to shoot through my legally owned and registered machineguns after we are finished with the tattooing, on this deal you have my word. Your only hitch is to make it by land sea or air to Illinois and provide the bovine. It can be fixed and finished and picture posted to this thread should you come through on your end of this bargain and I mean all of this most sincerely.
I can't do this for every person that's received your treatment or I would work myself into the poorhouse but this is my offer to you.
Thanks for your service and I apologize for the hack who misrepresented our trade and culture and I hope to hear from you.
    Sincerely,
    -Hawk- of

depends on who youre dealing with really... personally I draw EVERY tattoo the night before or the morning of the tattoo or sometimes i draw it on the client with markers when they get there as do a vast number of top notch tattooers that i know do as well. I've been drawing for 30 years and drawing for tattoos 5-7 days a week for 15+ years. so when it seems like i drew your tattoo in 15 minutes, really i drew it in 30 years and 15 minutes as Bob Ross would say. There are tattooers who can work on a simple design everyday for a week and have it suck and there are tattooers that can draw the most complex and large designs in 5 minutes and create an amazing tattoo. its all relative. like i said it really depends on who your working with. everyone works differently.

    Philadelphia:
Morimoto- It used to be better. That's a weird way to start a recommendation for a restaurant. When he actually worked there the quality just seemed better. Like there was more at stake. But it's still really good.
Chifa- I've only been there once. Owned by Chef Jose Garcia. We went during "duck week" for a prefix $55 dinner. Smaller portions led to excessive portions, all highlighting duck. Ended with a foie gras icecream with bits of crispy duck skin!
PYT- Some of the best burgers in Philadelphia.
Fogo de Chao- It's a chain, but well worth a visit for the carnivores.
Garcia's Trading Company- Another Jose Garcia property. The warm vichyssoise soup with bacon, truffles and scallops is my favorite.
Philly is a weird food city- we're a "big fish in a small pond" town with Garcia and Stephen Starr competing to own every nicer restaurant in town. It sort of takes the fun out of it.
But we have amazing foodie markets/stores to make up for it:
Di'Angelo Brothers: Butcher shop. You can get exotic meat hand butchered. Sonny has worked there all of his life and can usually handcut a piece of meat within an ounce just by sight. He also does homecured wild boar proscuitto and housemade pate that are to die for.
Di Brunos: Best cheesemongers in the city. Zeke, Ian and the boys can guide you to cheese and charcuterie that will pair with anything. It's a "by foodies for foodies" cheese/meat shop. They often shop out to local restaurants for specialty items- I picked up porcetta di testa there that was made locally.
