Wow Kyle- that wasn't the one I was thinking of, but that is immense! Nicky's is too, it's beautiful that mate. :)
Here you go Alanna! Y'know, I don't even like horses but I look at this tattoo on my arm all the time. Sorry if this is kind of big, I don't have the picture saved to my computer so I swiped it from my site.

Thanks for sharing this, Kev. I was gutted to have missed it for living so far away, so seeing your pictures made me feel a little better! :)

Someone here has a really really awesome one of those on this very forum. Right now though, after work stuff frying my brain, I can't remember who it was. Damnit!
Can I post my Charlie horse here then? I just like showing it off. ;)

    Ursulas advice = ridiculously sound.
Every stretch mark will be different, so I think you should take this advice. :) I think people like to ask questions online because it's not intimidating, but to be honest most tattoo studios aren't either, so just go to one you think looks great and see what they have to say, you'll be sorted in no time :)

This tattoo was done on my boss Ross Ferrie by Pinky Yun in 1982. Ross always tells this story of getting this dragon along with many others of Pinky. Pinky basically dipped a toothipick in some black ink gave himself a few reference points and just started tattooing on his arm. Ross admits he wasn't so sure at the time but the end result turned out.
The other photo is Ross and Pinky in 1982 and a painting our friend Ashley did for Ross shortly after Pinky's death. Note Ashley painted this while in New Zealand only from what he remembered it looking like.

I've never had kids so I don't have large stretch marks so I don't know from being personally tattooed. I have seen many many many people get tattoos to cover stretch marks and it seems to work pretty well. It really depends on the severity of the stretch marks and how good the artist is. As long as they arn't very deep or very discoloured you should be o.k. When you go into a tattoo shop, make sure to ask if the person has done this type of work before, and see if they might even have a photo they can show you. The best thing is to just make sure the artist is really experienced. They should ask to see the affected are before they agree to do the tattoo. Don't be shy, just say hey I have this issue can you help and if they are a good artist they will ask to see the area and then help you make a decision.

i think some of the things that should be addressed are the real basics, such as this forum isn't here to be a substitute for an artist. it's unrealistic for us to give anyone a quote or tell them how long something will take, as both of those are dependent on the design and the artist. also, having links to all the individual threads on the different types/styles of tattoos(lady heads, rose morphs, black work, etc.) would be handy. also, why we won't answer certain questions (like how to build a machine) and why they may come off as offensive to some.
i'm sure i'll come up with more stuff, but this is a start.

    Best. Ever.
just to clarify i didn't mean everyone who is heavily tattooed are some kind of crazy homicidal nut case.. i just mean we tend to be more on the rough side of life rather than whatever the opposite of that is.. in my experience it takes a certain type of person to be heavily tattooed.. i'm not talking about people with 1-5 tattoos i'm talking those of us who have a compulsion to become totally covered.. like for example when you see another person on the street you don't know who's totally covered in any kind of tattooing you already know a little about them.. I still stand by my statement that the reason we're covered in so many tattoos isn't because we're normal people...

    That's a pretty good start!
I think it might be beneficial to put something short in there about the actual designs and pictures of tattoos that are online, telling those who are new to tattooing that if you like something, you should want your own version of that from a good artist, instead of taking pictures from this site to see who'll copy it. From what I've heard from tattooers I know, that's an issue that seems to be worse at the minute.
Considering some people I know are sometimes surprised that tattooers don't just trace things from a load of books (or, good ones, anyway!) all day, I get the impression that those who are brand new to tattooing think that they can only get a limited amount of subjects and styles on them- just look at the thread that inspired this, the guy wanted a copy of a picture he saw online.
I think it might be a good idea to remind people to state not only where they're from, but also how far they can travel and a vague idea of what they're after, before asking for recommendations on studios. Some just say, "where's good in the UK?", and you're left thinking, "how do I answer that?!".

Here's the link to the blackwork tribal thread Stewart referenced. Plus there are some other cool tribal ish threads and pictures just take a look around.....
I echo David and Stewart......find a good tattooer and let them have at it. Let us know if you decide you'd like some tattooer suggestions based on your location or upcoming travel.....
As for the other stuff written in here, for a second I had to check my url to make sure I was on LST and not the other tattoo forums...... With that being said this thread/user does seems a bit fishy as this image is on every other tattoo internet site as their icon but lets try to stay positive and not scare off potential new tattoo customers or LSTers. Lets try to educate them so they can get good tattoos and support good tattooers all the while learning how getting a tattoo should be done.
As to the new user ideas, Patrick/Gougetheeyes hit me up a few weeks ago with an idea that we will hopefully be incorporating sooner than later to help them navigate the site initially. If you have ideas on this please pm me or any of the other Team LST within the next week as we will be hashing it out at our upcoming meeting. Or feel free to use the LST Suggestions and Feedback area of the forum. Thanks everyone

i was serious about my suggestion for a read me first page (or sticky?), that would be an easy resource for newcomers (or even regulars) as to when they have a question that can easily be answered within or outside of this forum. i'm willing to write it up, and that way, rather than bickering back and forth with someone who is new, we can simply just link them to the page if they have a question that can already be answered.

Haha, I never know if I'm a normal happy person or a miserable cow- depends how many people have irritated me that day! I'm overly polite too though, a lot of the time, though Pat and I may be anomalies, haha.

For anyone who asks "can you tattoo that?" I always mention Lucky from New Zealand. Google 'Lucky Diamond Rich'.
The answer is 'yes you can' but the catch is 'will it look the way you expect?'

I threw up in a fire pit at my moms's cabin this weekend. It was their one year anniversary with the place and there were many neighbors in attendance. After fly fishing all day/drinking tons of whiskey I came back and had more.
I was also apparently found in the bathroom with a spilt can of copenhagen long cut all over the toilet and not one but two open beers by me.

My mother and I. Shes kinda proud.
