There is a client of the shop who is in his mid 50's been getting tattooed since he was a teen and has quite the collection of good tattoos. Not only does he not have a back piece because he can't see it but he swears once he turns 60 he is done getting tattooed. Considering he is almost out of space on the rest of his body I have a feeling he will end up with a back piece eventually.
His dad on the other hand had one tattoo done during the war and was subsequently shot in the same spot a few weeks later. He came got his second tattoo which was a betty boop with the name Betty below it (for his new girlfriend) at the age of 82 earlier this year.

By finally found that image, do you mean Googled tribal tattoo and found it on the first page. If you really want this tattoo I would suggest going into a shop or a few shops and talk to a tattooer about pricing. But I can tell you it will be expensive and take multiple sittings.

could you imagine being tattooed by one of these? winding them up every minute or so would be such a pain!

I wished all the guys who used to bring this to me would bring Tom of Finland drawings instead. Usually the same motivation but much better designed, drawn and a hell of a lot more fun to tattoo and wear.
The best advice would be to check out guys who specialise in large black tattoos and get them to design something that actually fits your body and works with it instead of this squiggly, ugly crap. - There's a tribal/blackwork thread here on LST somewhere. I know you're not going to read it.

I was searching the internet, the other night, for any information on the history of tattooing in the UK, when I stumbled on this. It’s a tattoo museum in Liverpool , UK.
On the site they had some photos of antique tattoo machines powered by clockwork. I would have though these predate the electric tattoo machine and were made by a company called Newton & Wilson. Further searches on the internet indicates they specialised in making sewing machines.
Does anyone know anything about these or this type of machine. Where they used in the USA?
Did they catch on for a short while before becoming made obsolete by the advent of the electric powered version.?
They look as if they are beautifully made and were probably quite expensive.
I’m fascinated by old stuff like this, although my thing is restoring antique firearms.

Yeah he lost me at Shop Bitches too but i was the never the guys biggest fan.

As someone who's worked as the shop help/customer service rep. I find it incredibly offensive. I would never work in a shop where I was looked at as the shop bitch rather than the chick who works her ass off doing all kinds of important things like making sure the shop and equipment is clean and safe, dealing with every kind of customer imaginable, making sure you've got a hot lunch to eat, and all the other hundreds of little things that people who works in shops do to make it an easier and more enjoyable place for the tattooers and their clients alike. Some tattooers unfortunately have zero respect for the people who help make their jobs go a lot smoother. I mean, if you want to spend your evening scrubbing tubes and washing the floor/toilets after the shop closes, you're welcome to it. I guarantee within one month of doing so you'll be begging for your "shop bitch" to come back.
There are a few shops that don't have employees outside of the tattooers but they are few and far between and are usually just people who are to cheap to pay for the help, or their shop is too slow to warrant the help.

i stopped caring about shit like this, or i'd be angry 24/7/365. either way i'm tattooing and will continue to tattoo, i don't give a shit what's going on where...

The owner of shop tattooed a hairdresser in exchange for her cutting all of our hair at the shop. Will never do it again, I spent the next week cleaning up hair. Luckily it was done away from the tattoo area, but always think of this when one of those haircut, massage tattoo parlour opens up. I would like to think people would not get tattooed in these places, but I would also like to think people wouldn't get tattooed in kitchens either.

Ok, I'm a bit of a beer geek and have been gettng into Sour beers...mainly stuff from Russian River Brewing Co. - Consecration, Supplication and Temptation are real good . Also Flemish Sour Brown's like Monks Cafe or Petrus Oud Bruin. Anyone else like Sour beers?

Rogue Dead Guy is a good beer. But you know what is better Double Dead Guy or Dead Guy aged in Whiskey Barrels. I take a trip to the Rogue Brewery at least once a year and they have three brew pubs in Portland. At their brewery (about two hours away)on the ocean they have two bedroom apartments with full kitchen and washer dryer you can rent out for the night for like $100 and I try to go at least once a year for two days.
