  1. And I'm not referring to women like Deb, or Valerie who actually do nice tattoos and are tattooers because they want to be a tattooer. You all know the types I mean.
  2. WORST EVER. I don't fucking get it. Are dudes that desperate to touch an attractive lady that they're willing to get shit tattoos? I know more about tattooing and the history than more than half these bitches and I'm not even a fucking tattooer. These chicks are the ones who ruin it for people like me. Do you know how hard to is to get people at conventions to take me seriously? It's because of these dumb asses. Making people think that all chicks who are attractive and have tattoos are just either trying to be a tattooer, or trying to fuck a bunch of 'name' tattooers. Luckily I'm about a zillion times smarter than most of those chicks so as soon as I start to talk or show people my artwork they start to take me seriously. For real though, it's cause of all those dummies that the stigma of "girls suck at tattooing" and "tattooed girls are whores" exist. Try not showing up a convention with 8 inch heels on and a skirt that can barely be considered a belt. Sorry for the rant. I just can't stand women who devalue themselves like that. Just to look 'cool'. We'll see who still looks cool and who's still in the tatt game when we're all over 65.
  3. I do like the traditional american Native style tattoos, like a Sailor Jerry Native lookin' lady head. I purposefully have gotten nothing that could be taken as Native American for a reason though. The reason is specific to me though. Basically, my father's wife is native and I don't want anything to do with him or her. I don't want to answer questions to people who know he lives on a native reserve to be all "OMGGGG did you get that tatt cause of your dad" ugh. As far as other people having them, well I don't give a fuck. It's like getting tribal tattoos that have nothing to do with Maori culture. If you get a tribal design that means something like you are a fertile woman ready to wed, and you're a guy well then you're the one who looks like a fucking tool. I guess that's like what was mentioned earlier about getting a lady head wearing war bonnet even though it's a man's accessory. And yeah Gouge, the pendleton style, or southwestern or Navajo, whatever you wanna call it, has made a huge comeback for clothing last season and for spring 2012. You can get almost anything you can think of with a Pendleton or Native design on it right now. Wearing a pendleton coat or bag is totally different to me than being one of those asshole hipsters wearing a war bonnet to a fucking indie rock band show. That shit is lame. I guess it all comes down to know what something means before permanently marking it onto yourself... or don't 'cause it's not like the general population knows anything about art or culture and the specifics of Native American symbology.
  4. I think people just like the imagery. It's powerful. Natives are a reminder of your wilder more human side I guess. Reminds us of a time when hunting and living off the land was the norm, as opposed to the TV pop culture trash that most of the world has been turned into. I'm into these Navajo or southwestern style Native designs that Chad Keoplinger has been doing. I'm not sure if I'd get one tattooed, but I'd totally consider a small piece if I was around him or knew him.
  5. hmm I have strange feeling that claiming to want a tattoo by Oliver Peck is going to be the new claiming to want tattoos by Kat Von D, or any of the other reality show tattooers. Just a note about the Wizard tatt trend. I briefly talked to Tim Lehi about doing one a couple years ago, def still want that to happen. His wizards are the fuckin jam. All evil and magical and metal-ey.
  6. I did the Dallas one in March 2010 with Inksmith. It was a total bust. The only people who kept busy were the 'names', like people from Blackheart and Mike Wilson. The only rad part was Lucero and Oliver's after parties. So I don't think I'd go again. It's one of those conventions run by a production company that doesn't give a fuck about the tattooers or tattoos. Sorry to shit all over your post though.
  7. that's too bad! I've never had a problem with it before. Maybe they changed their policies recently.
  8. I have Facebook, twitter, tumblr, flickr, wordpress, instagram, foursquare, path and google plus. i use some more than others. i only have so many because it's a good way to promote my art/online shop.
  9. If you go to a convention where TAM has a booth you can buy them with no shop info required!
  10. I had a customer at work the other day tell me she had just taken her 12 year old daughter to get a belly button ring. She then also told me how her 16 year old son has been going and getting tattoos so she took him to get his last one so she could make sure he was going somewhere clean. I then informed her that in Ontario where we live, piercing a 12 year old is illegal, and so is tattooing a minor without parental consent. She got a really shitty look on her face and left pretty soon after. I don't she liked being told her and her kids are being taken advantage of by assholes.
  11. @mattyrunks I've heard that you all do spectacular work! I only know Lester thought so that's why I mentioned him!
  12. Sometimes I think about my healing tattoo like this : if this was a wound, like a cut or something, and it looked like this would I be freaking out? If not, well then you're probably fine, if you answer yes, well then be safe and have it looked at.
  13. Yes standing all day will have an effect. All the blood and goop being sent to help healing is gonna have a really hard time going back up your leg if you're standing all day. Damn gravity! So all that junk is just sitting around in your ankle causing swelling, redness, itching etc.
  14. Electric Ladyland is the only place I'd go. There's a guy there named Lester who does great work. He used to work at Inksmith. They are located on Frenchman st I believe. Also Steve Tiberi is about to be there doing a guest spot if you're into his stuff.
  15. Holy fuck is that an actual tattoo from the show??????? That's fucking awful.
  16. Didn't watch it. Didn't even know last night was the big kick off. Probably won't watch it. It has less to do with it being a tattoo show and more to do with the fact that I only watch tv online and there's way more better shit to watch then someone I know judging a tattoo done by someone I don't know or care about. I know what it looks like to get and give a tattoo so I dunno why I'd watch this.
  17. Leg tarts generally heal longer and rougher than other spots. The further down your leg it is, the father from your heart it is. Makes it harder for your body to send what it needs to that area.
  18. Dude this looks like it was an awesome time! You tattoo is great, I'm sure you're so fucking stoked right now. I can't fucking believe you can get to Japan and back for $450, that's crazy! Over here (Canada) it costs about $1300, and that's when there's a sale too!
  19. HAHAHAHA @dari that is amazing.. crochet bikini is the new taz tattoo
  20. Also, when I was younger, like highschool early 20's I had a recurring nightmare where I somehow thought it was an awesome idea to get a Marilyn Manson full back piece... pretty glad that never came true. I remember even in the dream thinking wow that was a fucking awful idea and being really bummed on the tattoos.
  21. First time through I didn't notice the "this was a dream" part and was all WTF that sound horrible where the hell did this happen at... ahahahaha...
  22. Well being familiar with the wholesale prices of most popular t shirt brands I do know that they are double and triple the price to buy even in large quantities. It has to do usually with the difference in the jersey knit. Women's shirts are often a finer softer knit. It still sucks though because when it really comes down to shit, they are all still made over seas for pennies. As far as just normal clothing, the only reason women's costs more is because everyone knows women shop more and care more about their clothing and appearance in general. Either way, if that Larry David or Louis CK shirt was $15 instead of $30 I'd have already bought them both probably.
