  1. After 5 days you still have all that cloudy new skin growing on top, give it a few weeks and that should clear up
  2. I don't have any pictures right now so I won't clog up the lowdown thread, but on Friday the lady and I drove down to Denver and got ourselves a couple walk ins at Lifetime. We've been to each others appointments before but never got tattooed together, so this was really fun. I got a rad little scorpion from Jason, and she got a crawling panther from Matt because she's way tougher than me. Pics next week sometime when we aren't so scabby
  3. I really like Sam Yamini and Andy Canino's Japanese tattoos, they work at dedication tattoo on Broadway. As always I have to recommend checking out lifetime tattoo on Colfax, coolest shop. But... If I were to get a big Japanese tattoo in Colorado I would strongly consider Joel Long in Boulder, or of course Ishmael Johnson up in fort collins
  4. Yeah, seems like quite the project. Was neat to see Brian Henry on there, he's right down the road from me and I see rad tattoos from him often.
  5. Just downloaded, looks great, excited to watch it grow.
  6. On a traditional style arm full of one shot pieces I don't think a cohesive theme is necessarily important, unless of course the theme is "rad tattoos." It is of course possible to put together a collection of related imagery but when you start filling in awkward gaps you would have less freedom of choice for those areas. I do like the look of a big cohesive piece, and it can be done in a traditional american style, but I think big conceptual or thematic designs lend themselves better to the Japanese aesthetic.
  7. 2 eagles 2 snakes 3 skulls 2 lady heads A bunch of roses... Some of these are elements of tattoos, some are the main subject matter, I think the point is just get what you want
  8. If I didn't go this big I think the plan would have been just an eagle on the chest and later a pharaoh's horses for the belly.
  9. All healed up for now. 2 sessions in with Chad
  10. @ThatGuy I put the progress from my last session in the lowdown thread in Nov. I can get a healed shot in here for ya tonight if you need more convincing that eagle vs snake is the way to go
  11. Welcome to LST, who made your tattoos? Any pictures to share?
  12. I'm going to jump on with everyone and say I loved RTJ2, its been getting the most play in my car since it dropped for sure. Other stand outs in hip hop for me were the Souls of Mischief with There Is Only Now, and Dilated Peoples latest Directors of Photography. 7262 got a bit of internet fame when a wedding party rolled up on their video shoot this summer, but outside of all the memes it's mostly a solid hip hop album with an interesting mix of gangster and nerd culture. Outside of rap, The Black Keys - Turn Blue has been getting a lot of play, it feels more polished and sometimes like early 2000s indie stuff at points as opposed to their earlier, grungier rock'n'roll releases but I'm not complaining, it's always good to see a band expand instead of making the same album time and time again. ...and even further from my first paragraph of banging beats and cutthroat lyricism, The String Cheese Incident put out their first album in almost 10 years, Song in my Head is full of old classic tour songs that never found their way into the studio, really fun to hear polished versions of this stuff I've heard countless times on the stairs of Red Rocks and a few other venues. This is the first time they've brought in an outside producer to work on an album for them, and yet somehow it feels most like what you get live compared to their earlier releases. I'm sure most of you guys aren't down with the hippie dippy type stuff that makes me groove, but if you're into bluegrass at all maybe give them a listen or two.
  13. Hey, welcome to LST! I'm up here in Summit County and usually drive down to Denver to get tattooed, there's a ton of great tattooers in your area. First thing that comes to mind with the style you're looking for is Ian Lutz (@onemancult on instagram) who works at Lifetime Tattoo on Colfax. You can also get a reasonably priced plane ticket to Austin, TX and see Thomas Hooper. Both of them are going to be closer to geometric dotwork designs rather than the solid black stuff you see in Roxx's work but definitely worth checking out.

    Hello

    Welcome, love your work!

    Hello there!

Welcome to the forum, who tattooed you?
  16. I had the opposite experience, less than 2 hours outlining was way worse than over 3 hours shading on my (still unfinished) chest/torso piece
  17. When he does japanese, Jon Larson does it bold, a lot of the stuff towards the top of his feed is decidedly traditional but his namakubi remind me of Koji in a way
  18. Been loving RTJ2 of course, in some ways it reminds me more of El Ps older stuff than the first one did, really fun album. Anybody else get on the new Souls of Mischief, People Under the Stairs, or Dilated Peoples joints? The new Souls is an awesome concept album, cool to hear something different from those guys, the People and the Peoples albums sound a lot like their old stuff which was expected, but still very solid stuff.
  19. Welcome to LST! Got any tattoos to share?
  20. Am I understanding that your question isn't why are there so many drawings of skulls, but why do they have actual skulls or models of such on display in shops? One reason of course would be, as everyone pointed out, that they're cool. Another thing could be for drawing reference, if you have the actual item you can pose it in any angle you want and draw from it as a whole reference, using books or the internet as a reference can only give you so many angles, and maybe you don't want a 3/4 perspective, just a little off from that or whatever. With the actual item in hand you can angle it exactly how you're imagining and get it detailed just so.
  21. Colorado springs is a really cool little city at the base of pikes peak, one of our many mountains above 14,000 feet, the downtown area is nice and well put together and there's a nice small town nearby (manitou springs? Sorry the name is escaping me at the moment) As far as tattooing I'd say check out Tattoo Demon, opened up about a year ago, and you're only about an hour outside Denver so there's a lot of good stuff going on there. Feel free to message me any other colorado-centric questions you may have and I'll get back to you
