  1. Junius-Reports on the Threshold of Death (metal-darkpop-new wave hooks....I like) Absu-abzu lurker of chalice-s/t lp tombs-p.o.t Rwake-Rest the cure-pornography depeche mode-black celebration death in june-BWEWSS,rose clouds voivod-nothingface.
  2. Yea....the last tour was amazing as well. New album soon too! I first got into them around when soundtracks for the blind came out so I NEVER got to see them untill last year. Needless to say it was an important day. Too bad my bunny boy isnt done so well and I smashed it while it was healing so the face is a bit rubbed off....But i love it anyway.
  3. My friends a local tattooer.....I hang out often, bullshit etc The worst is the people (mostly men) who dont understand how to get a tattoo (relax, breath yadda yadda) who fart or shart because they push and squeeze so hard.
  4. I have a few band tattoos.... SWANS (bunny boy), neurosis (fenris head) and melvins (Kozik two headed dog). They are pretty small...I dont regret them but I think artwork is a bit different then lets say a logo or a symbol specific to the band. Still, I would cover one or two up if they got in the way of something better mostly because they arent done that well.
  5. Ill never understand....insanely influential band. Them and the smiths/morrissey solo I can listen to daily. But i have friends who hate me for it.
  6. ugh hipsters cant have joy division....its just wrong.
  7. @Stewart Robson Ohh totally.....I used your post as a way to explain my situation, sorry. I get what you are saying, I hear that stuff all the time from the students I work with. I am lucky too that we live in a pretty openminded town in Vermont.
  8. Damn...id love to do this but Im sure by the time I figure out my 2011 tattooing appointments for stuff I need to complete she will be booked solid if not already so.
  9. Yea.... but people go through that, in todays western world esp its natural. My wife and I did for about a second, and we quickly got to a point that we realized career motivations dont out weigh the desire to get tattooed. At work we both wear longsleeves for various reasons. For me I dont want to talk about my tattoos with everyone who wants to know the meaning behind them and its a fine way to avoid further judgement. Id rather wear longsleeves for 8-10hrs a day then not have tattoos just to get ahead. Granted Im a pretty blue collar scientist as strange as that sounds. People ask all the time "why dont you get a higher level degree".....that shit just doesnt matter to me, once your old and you had a exausting career your not thinking about the wasted days spent working your life away your thinking about the ones you love and doing the things you love and for us a big part of that is getting tattooed. If you can do what you love for a living ...well then to me thats the real dream.
  10. tattoo faction is in Cleveland OH....so its a drive, but Greg tattooed my wife and hes a good dude and talented tattooer.
  11. its a Jef style skull on his ditch with other crazy shit. Healed perfectly/clean Also, Deno is class and wish I had the money that day to get something from him.
  12. Yea...the colors on Denos are perfect....when I saw it, I said fuck its time to get something from Jef. This year if possible.
  13. Certainly will agree with Duncan X and Thomas Hooper, . Maxime and Liam Sparks are 2 others..... Ive seen some good work from other artists like this but the names escape me.
  14. Looks like hes working out of Taylor St in Chicago. If your a fan of his work find his face book page, hes posting some cool art and it seems hes doing a little more self promotion. He is one of that tattooers that years ago I told myself I wanted to get work from, and that was before I really got serious about getting tattooed. I hope our paths cross sometime next year.....even if I have to fly to Chicago. SOoooo, I was wondering who has some work from him that you would be willing to post?? Deno has a crazy skull/thing on his arm that I couldn't look at enough times when I was at the Montreal convention. His work isn't extremely common to see online(and I like that about it) but anything would be cool (but I respect keeping it offline.
  15. Will do! I love the guys work......the tattoo will be influenced by some of the ideas he explores in his paintings....I want it to be unmistakably Robert Ryan in the execution and design.
  16. Working out details with Robert Ryan for a tattoo early next year. Stoked.
  17. Also, respond/attach any past emails.....I find that until you have a relationship with your tattooer that this helps keep some continuity with the interaction and reminds them of the conversation etc. Good luck.
  18. Well......the guy seems to have one thing right, he seems like a 100% CUNT.
  19. Dont pretend to know the price before you talk to the tattooer. Mike Wilson is great, people like that are worth saving extra for. If you are going large scale then do it in parts. Esp if its your first tattoo. ohh....and tip well. So plan to add 20% to the total value of your tattoo as a way to say thank you.
  20. Maybe you could Go to this: Tattoo La Palooza | Miami, FL - Tattoo Convention | June 24th, 25th, and 26th, 2011 look around, see what you like.....talk to people. Or save your monies and wait for Tim.......i mean, the guys amazing so no one can fault you for doing that. ( the link lists the 2011 dates, I think 2012 is in Jan.)
  21. Wow.....thanks, thats kind. Im my area people dont get it or dont like his style, and thas cool but I love it. In maney ways Thomas is traditional, thats what I love about it. It is and it isnt, its a mixture.....Good luck with your appointment!!!
  22. Yes.....this is what I did and posted about. Mine was never supposed to be Japanese. Even if you dont like mine, the idea remains.....find the artist for the idea and leave very happy. Good luck, and please post it when its done.
  23. Thats great and terrible all at the same time......mainly because I imagine the person better be wearing wrap around glasses and be bald.
  24. Your right its the same disingenuous bull. But you got a point....I was thinking about it and Ive seen a lot of owls with glasses, also star wars tattoos, animals on bikes/animals as humans, lame forearm script and in my town they LOVE fine art tattoos and other things that weren't meant to be tattooed (IMO). Tops of the hands on a hipster with no other tattoos bugs me....I see a lot of them recently. I also dont get the "it looks like paint was splashed on my arm" tattoo.
  25. I got the carcass tools of the trade, circular direct off the cd from necrotism and on to my arm. I went thru this "no-cover up" phase then said fuck it but I am incorporating part of the tools into the sleeve since it was my first tattoo.....
