  1. Rob,

Thanks for joining us, and I especially appreciated your last comment on "Most hated." Feel free to start any topics that interest you, and for the record, I'm kind of crazy about "knit fast."

    Thanks again,

    Dari Sylvia

  2. Thanks for your awesome info on the machines- I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but I know my husband's really gonna love your post. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff we're hoping to get more of on here, do I see a blog in your future?

    Thanks again,

    Dari Sylvia (Scott's old lady)

  3. Rob, You are a talented tattooerist. More photos coming?
  4. Hey Jason,

Love your work, especially your paintings. Thanks for sharing them! I, too, would love to hear some stories incorporating tattooing and life in general in New Orleans. How long ago did you leave, before or after Katrina?

    Thanks again,

    Dari

  5. Mike,

Thanks for posting your paintings, keep up the good work! Can't wait to see what else you've got going on.

    Take care,

    Dari

    Artist Sabbatical

I'm pretty attached to my husband's shop (Blackheart Tattoo, Oakland), he was building it when we were still dating. I'll never forget the romance of the date that involved hanging the bathroom door at 2 am! I'm also super fond of Freddy Corbin's Temple Tattoo in Oakland, I've had some good times there, while being tattooed or just visiting, and I love everyone who works there. I love hearing about the little things that make each shop special. I know that at 4:00 everyday, everyone at Horitaka's State of Grace in San Jose stops what they're doing and has tea together, how awesome is that? Thanks for telling us about your shop, keep the blogs coming! Dari
  7. One more thing to look forward to at the sweet tatty convention- New Book Release and Signing by Jill "Horiyuki" Mandelbaum Tattoo Artist: A Collection of Narratives Featuring interviews with Adam Barton, Grez, Eric Jones, Henning Jorgensen, Gary Kosmala, Oliver Peck, Heath Preheim, Javi Rodriguez, Robert Ryan, Richard Stell, Chris Trevino, Jef Whitehead and Pinky Yun.
  8. Important info from Takahiro Kitamurato (Taki)'s Facebook page- "all the artists tattooing at the SFO CONVENTION, roman and i just were told by the health dept. that everyone needs to register with them and pay a $98 fee. This must be done by October 20th or they will not let you tattoo. You can call to pay over the phone 650-372-6218 attention Mary. thank you and sorry for the inconvenience. i will send more info when i get back from london!!"
  9. Ms. Mikki!!!!!

Yeah! So glad to have you here. Are you gonna be the one to start off the women in tattooing conversation? I was even thinking of suggesting to our little group that we have a separate private section/club for female tattooers, what do you think? I know were gonna have an old ladies club, that's for damn sure. There are some challenges to being the second wife, as tattooing is a demanding first wife!

I do hope you start a blog on something, I'd love to hear what's going on with you these days.

    Much Metta,

    Dari

  12. Hey Jeremy,

Thanks for tuning in! Would love to have any imput from you, we want this to be a place that's actually useful as well as entertaining.

Hope to hear from you soon,

    Dari

  13. God bless them. I love this part of the article: "Pastor Kyle Steven Bonenberger told worshippers that God "tattooed your name on his heart" and it was time for an everlasting commitment to Him and the church." I wonder who does God's tattoos? Are they also in Orange County? That'd be quite the resume builder!
  14. I can't tell what's wrong with the tattoo, I'm just wondering why you have a cat tucked under your arm. I think Mario knows some people who can help you.
  15. Hello Beanie Babie!

    xoxoxoxo!

  16. We don't care what style of tattooing you're involved with, we want to see all styles. Maybe post pictures of some of your drawings and paintings? I like what you've shown us so far.

    Thanks,

    Dari

  17. I know that Mitch, one of the owners and chefs of Town Hall, Salt House, and Anchor and Hope has full sleeves from Tim Lehi. (Maybe both owners do, I can't remember.) We've had amazing dinners at all three first restaurants, including shop and holiday dinners at the first two. If any diners would be offended by his tattoos, imagine how disturbed they would be if they were seated next to a table full of rowdy tattoo artists and drunken shop helpers. All I have to say is THANK GOD I live in the bay area where no one cares.
  18. Ladies, don't worry, it ain't my tattoos that my husband's looking at....
  19. Hello to our first Brazilian friend! Would LOVE to hear about the Brazilian tattoo community!

Thanks for joining in, please post some pictures if you get a chance,

    Dari

  20. Are you going or just wish you were going? If you're going, are you working or getting tattooed or both? Any great stories from previous London conventions? Here's the link, check out the "Attractions!" Fuel Girls look like Victoria Secret models- http://www.thelondontattooconvention.com/
  21. I'm scared Tim Hendricks won't ever tattoo me again after the tattoo he did on me that involved a tiny 2 inch by 3 inch world map with all the teeny tiny latitude and longitude lines. And I sat terribly that night as I had done a 3 hr handstands and arm balances yoga workshop with Ana Forrest that day. Terrible timing - what was I thinking? My hands were shaking when I wrote the words down that I wanted written on it, and that was before we even started. I had bruises on my arm for days from him having to hold me still 'cause I was jumping all over the place, trying to get away. He'll probably never tattoo me again. :(
  22. Beppe!

So glad that you've joined us! I can't believe our little project has jumped the pond so quickly! I'm assuming that you're going to the London convention this weekend? ANYTHING that you want to share with us here from the convention (or anywhere else) would be fabulous. We're planning on having tons of video interviews on this site, if you've always had a secret desire to be a news reporter, this is your big chance.

I have a pic I've been meaning to send to you FOREVER-

    Hope to see you soon,

    Dari

    WOW!

Hey Lefty, Thanks for joining in! I was wondering if you've read Nick Collela's blog on finding a balance regarding family? If you've got the time, as you've said that family is your main concern and you've been married for 8 years, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Either way, welcome, and we can't wait to see your pictures and hear your stories! Thanks for saying that you've found our site hospitable. We really want to keep it a friendly place, and we're aiming to limit gossip and bickering. That doesn't mean we don't want to hear your scandalous stories if you've got 'em, just no names! Someone posted a story about apprenticing under someone who pulled a gun on them for not making needles fast enough, I thought that was pretty awesome. If you have interest in writing a blog or submitting any articles we're open to whatever you've got- Take care, Dari (Scott Sylvia's wife)

    Greetings

Great photos! I'm not cool enough to know who those people are, but your shots stand on their own.
