  1. The guy with the tattoo is Bernie Perez. He worked at Inksmith and was a pretty awesome dude. Sadly he passed away a couple years ago. He had some amazing tattoos by some of the top tattooers of our time. He was a troubled soul and hopefully is doing better wherever he may be now.

You're right though, it is one of the best chests I've seen. Shit like that makes me mad that I have titties all getting in the way of a tattoo like that!

Sorry to hear that! At least his tattoo is getting some major attention and serious skin envy! Ugh..it's just so perfect! Thank you for the input.

  2. Charlie and Jack pretty much pioneered the style ,in a shop, that is. I worked for GTC for almost 10 yrs. I would have to say those tattoos are nice, but, done in a very traditional style. We used single needles for yrs, but I never touch em nowdays. much of the premades are plenty tight enough. you left out a lot of important cats, Freddy Negrete, Flame, Mike Brown,GTC, These are some of the founding fathers.

I think chicano tattoos look better done in the traditional style. It really brings out the black and grey work.

The amount of hair that is incorporated in chicano designs also looks better when it is done traditionally.

Even Jack Rudy's tattoos have the bold traditional look.

  3. I'd like to start a chicano style tattoo threat. The style is a favorite of mine. It also translates well into traditional style tattooing.

I'd like to know which tattooers are highly influenced by this style, as I'd like to get more work done.

Some of my favorite chicano style tattooers are:

    Jack Rudy

    Freddy Corbin

    Eli Quinters

    Jason McAfee

    Tim Hendricks

    Daniel Albrigo

    Fernando Lions

    Chuco Moreno

    UZI

Here are some of my tattoos. Based off of Teen Angels Magazines.

    By Eli Quinters.

  4. The other day I came across this piece by Chad Koeplinger

    And it got me thinking...

I´ve seen quite a few tattoos done by respected artists with the swastika symbol incorporated in it. I assume that the majority of the members of this board already know that different variations of this symbol has been present for thousands of years before it was adopted by the nazi party in the 1920`s, but for most people today it is commonly assosiated with some form of white supremacism. Atleast in the Western part of the world.

I´m sure none of the tattoos I just referred to was done with that ideoligy behind it, but almost anyone who sees a tattoo like that will immediately draw that conclusion. It makes me wonder why anyone wants it tattooed at all (even if it is a different variation of it and for completely different reasons).

In the bonus episode of Tattoo Age Freddy Corbin mentioned that not even the Indian people would want the swastika symbol tattooed on them, despite it being represented throughout their religious artwork.

I believe the swastika in the Koeplinger tattoo is the buddhist variation, but please correct me if I`m wrong.

(I´ve considered back and forth on whether or not to post this thread as I don´t want to offend anyone or start an unhealthy discussion. I´ll leave it up to @dari , @hogg , @steve1461686340 and the other moderators to decide it´s worth a shot.)

I love that Koeplinger tattoo. It was originally a symbol of peace but the Nazi's stole it and tarnished it. Even though it is viewed negatively now I wouldn't mind getting a tattoo with it, but I would be hesitant about getting it done in a visible location (ex: forearms). Uzi does some really cool flash with swastikas in them. Wouldn't mind getting one from him.

  5. So we've got a lady head thread, how about an entire lady body thread!

Here's one that I've always liked! It's by Mike Wilson. And if you knew the guy in the photo, please know I mean no disrespect by posting this, he was a friend of mine to, and he had and did some awesome tattoos.

I really like the simplicity of the design. The shading is so minimal yet so effective.

Wow! Fucking sick! Possibly the sickest chest I have seen! Goddamn I cannot get over this! Who is the guy with the tattoo? Is he a tattoo artist? Wish I could see that up close! Amazing!

  6. So far I have been tattooed by Eli Quinters, Steve Boltz, and Bert Krak. Most of my tattoos are from Eli though. Only Daniel Santoro is left to get tattooed by.

I'll upload pictures as soon as I can. Would like to post a separate thread about it. Thanks!

  7. My name is Cosmo a tattoo enthusiast from NYC. Currently getting inked at Smith Street Tattoo in Brooklyn, NY.

    Greetings everyone at Last Sparrow!
