  1. That's jewish law and is one of a long list. Plus the original hebrew makes no reference to a "tattoo". Its carving your flesh for the dead.
  2. to me that's the cool part of actually leaving the house, going to a shop and seeing what's out there. so many people are timid or worried about getting some "mindblowing" piece from someone who's got a waiting list and a ton of internet recommendations that they never take a chance. it's one of the coolest things about tattooing that so many people are missing out on. you'd be surprised at how many amazing tattooers have zero internet presence and are close by but it seems like many folks would rather do whats easier and safe.
  3. keep it elevated, take an anti-inflammatory if you are able to. stay off of it when you can and don't alter your aftercare just because of the swelling. hands/feet swelling isn't unusual. usually takes a couple or more days for it to go away depending on how often you can stay off of it and elevate it. and like others said, let your tattooer know because they should be telling you this.
  4. eventhough I agree with this to some degree, it's not a spa. I want people to be comfortable but also sometimes I may pick music that I am going to work best to that particular day. in regards to feeling someones personal chi, they best keep it in their pants. that's gonna cost extra and i don't think my wife is going to go for it. petting someones chi. that's like 2 steps above and handjob.
  5. Sarah mclachlan is music lesbians listen to but ani difranco is lesbian music. That's not relaxing.
  6. If you do the exact dietzel design, you'll have a connection to it. Especially if you are really into traditional designs.
  7. Greetings and salutations! Nice, clean, proper tattooing you're doin there.
  8. Dan Rick @ bigtop in utica, mi
  9. btw...since I've been playing this lately and still wondering who did the cover, let's see if anyone here has ideas. haha as I stated earlier, it's not listed in the liner notes.
  10. I noticed you made two threads about the exact same thing, both in the initiation section and never introduced yourself or put forth the effort to participate enough to be able to start your own thread. Really evaluate your efforts regarding tattooing and ask yourself if you are taking the same short cuts. I posted in the other thread as well before noticing this one.
  11. I think the comment quoted below is what prompted a response that may have seemed less than friendly. If you see someone is expressing themselves in a manner that is passionate or you notice that they seem to be already "hostile" and you throw sarcasm into your opinion, just about anyone will not handle you with kid gloves. That's not a forum only situation. "Agreed. You know what else is bullshit? Hospital discharge instructions and lemon laws. I mean, buyer beware. Purveyors of goods and services have no social responsibility to ensure the client's well-being once the transaction is over. Good business practice is for pussies"
  12. There's a split album by the forgotten and the heartaches that has an awesome cover that I would believe to be a tattooer and I've searched the liner notes and its not anywhere in there. So yeah I totally get what ya meant.
  13. @Dan S, was wondering if you were on a vacation when you had been m.i.a. around here. Look forward to the end of your research and having ya back.
  14. Actually it impairs judgement and usually causes people to not control their behaviour. It may give anesthetic and sedative effects to some people but not everybody. You just haven't been around any real drunks maybe. Haha! And if she is intoxicated on anything, I would bet she was acting like this long before the tattoo started.
  15. to make it more interesting, let's replace nwa with sledgehammer or any of the sss japanese rac bands? haha on a side note, what about david alan coe? I imagine folks aren't playing his underground album but the other stuff gets played. which i'll mention too that his first album, penitentiary blues, is a great blues record.
  16. Before it showed up in tattooing, it was always referred to as "stippling". Also, mentioned him before but cory ferguson has been doing that style for a long time as well and usually gets left off people's lists of who's doing/been doing this style.
  17. where would you be going that you would need to hide it, that will allow you to wear a hat? and a hat that would cover the space behind your ear would be a stocking cap I assume?
  18. There's a bunch of folks who I'd let tattoo me that may not be on anyones list of "mindblowing" amazing, trend setting artists. But they're awesome people and the tattoo is just a permanent memory of that connection or time and place. Hell, my favorite tattoo was done by my daughter when she was 7. I've sought out certain folks because of an artistic aspect as well but that's not always the motivation. There's a time and place for everything and its a tough call to make when you're just an observer. I'd also say that art might not be subjective, but if someone likes it or not, IS. I know plenty of folks that don't like basquiat. I'm not a fan of frida but I do like lots of folk art and crude imagery that most would discount as not being any good. But then again I'd rather listen to darkthrone than iron maiden.
