  1. Me and my sons walked into Ihop on Easter morning, with some ink showing. Right to the back of the bus with the rest of the colored folk...
  2. Most shops have a public area (waiting room) and a client area. If you're not in the chair, you don't belong in the client area, unless the artist says okay. One shop I know, you have to be buzzed into the client area. I've heard of artists being beaten up (goons sent from a competing shop), and an attempted armed robbery. I won't mention the shop, but the artist raked the tattoo gun across the bad guy's face and he ran. I have given thought to the amount of $$ I may have in my pocket when I sit in the chair. Late in the evening, the artists may have some serious cash on them.
  3. 3 hours remain until my 4-hour session today. Drinking lots of water, but will be bringing my usual compliment of opiates to my appointment. As long as she keeps out of my armpit, all should be well. I was there a couple of months back, there was another regular with the other artist... would not STFU for nothin'... meanwhile I am in a sea of discomfort. I later learned that the guy was sipping vodka from a water bottle.
  4. I've been watching a lot of series on demand. Nurse Jackie... not sure I want to see the next season, House of Lies, Undercover (biker gang infiltration) and Shameless. Better Call Saul has been delivering all the way. Think they're down to the S1 last episode tonight?
  5. I love to hang out with my cat Chloe. My son takes a lot of pictures of the cat and had a photo-book made up for my birthday.
  6. Once again, I'm working on 2 big tattoos at once. So between late January and early May, I have a lot going on. I love the work so far and at the end of May my focus will be on getting ready for the summer. Maybe I'll be working on the next one in the fall or wait until next year.
  7. Going tomorrow after work to have Tori at Studio 69 tattoo finish up my right upper arm (with new tiger head). It is supposed to snow though :(
  8. He should sue their asses. Discriminating against COLORED people... they are not aware of the Civil Rights Act of 1964????
  9. One of my many weaknesses... Japanese rolls and beer. Supposed to hit a new Thai place that opened up soon.
  10. I've seen consent forms that asked if the client was HIV positive, had hepatitis but that's about it. This was years ago, I haven't signed a consent form in 20 years. In the past, the consent forms were in place to mainly protect the tattooer, not the tattooee.
  11. Awesome tiger.. on the knee cap no less. I had these two empty spots that had to be completed, so I found a couple of tiger/panther tattoos that I liked and the artist came up with some good art for me.
  12. I had a big ingrown hair on the back of my arm after a recent tattoo session. It was actually painful, got it hot in the shower and popped it and now it looks fine. I get minor ones now and then.
  13. I totally agree. We now live in a rat-bastard society where it is accepted to bring someone down to feel better about yourself. I definitely am not the most PC person on the planet.
  14. I had a real bad 2014 and got back into the tattoo game in January, having a tiger head and panther head on the inside of my upper arms. Going for round 2 on the panther on March 4th, round 3 on the tiger head and fill in work around it on March 20th. The shop is Studio 69 in Ronkonkoma NY, the artist is Tori.
  15. I have neck issues so I bring a neck pillow with me. It helps to make me more comfortable.
  16. They meant well. I hope they realize that things like birth marks can be greatly diminished by laser when she gets older.
  17. Very important to tell the artist that you are a diabetic right up front. I've heard from an artist that she had a patient pass out during a tattoo. So now she asks everyone.
  18. Petco has them, but the vet can show you how to fit it right & take another look at the wound.
  19. Dogs and other pets are not the best of patients. Could they put one of those funnel-collars on to keep her from reaching it?
  20. Life can be too short, go for it man.
  21. I walked into a shop, shopping for a new artist in early January. I had a tattoo book with me and wanted to bounce a few ideas off the artist. I was open to something else, rather than copy what was in the book. So she pulls out this coloring book and hands it to me, "I think there's some tiger & panther heads in this one.". And there sure was. Since she paid for the book, she owned the art within. I never compared the stencils back to the book, but a lot of the background was changed up to fit what I expected and also to go with some existing work on me.
  22. I'm now to the point where I want to know pretty much what I'll be getting. A couple of appointments from last year (went right along with my supremely fucked up 2014..) left me not being happy after the sessions. But nothing that cannot be improved upon. Live and learn. I'm back with an older shop I've used in the past but working with a new artist that did a lot of work on my son. I have 2 large tattoos in the works and am totally pleased with the results.
  23. My wife had no ink, but she was tolerant of mine. Lots of people around us have tattoos, so no novelty here. But since I got back into it, I realize how it has become more of a lifestyle thing. I could see how it could come between a couple enough to split them up.
