  1. I like to get all my ink done as late as May 1st. I open my pool around 5/15 so I like to be able to go in ASAP. Was at the beach today wearing a #50 sunblock on my tattoos. CG
  2. No doubt about it. The game is too easy to learn and everyone wants to play it. TV has made it worse with the douchebag drama that goes with it. I will play it and do very well with it... often absurd things like a pair of 3's take the pot. And don't try a weak bluff on someone who has been playing stud and draw poker for 40 years. CG
  3. My older work was all acetate stencils. The stencils were usually made from the wall art by an apprentice. Perforate all those little holes along every line... I used to watch them do it. I can recall the artist cursing when they had to cut a fresh stencil. They were usually kept in a drawer in some sort of order and had the reference # from the flash on the wall. CG
  4. Guess I'm too old-school when it comes to poker. If all you know is texas scrotum.. I mean hold 'em, you have no perspective. Get some time in the game you might see what I mean about it. Even my wife prefers straight up games like 5-card draw, acey-deusey, etc. CG
  5. I'm going to have to consider filler when I have my next piece done. I've been with the same artist for a while now and we hash things out, so I get what I want and she comes up with some good options. I feel that I have to have a connection with the artist. Shop around until you find someone you are comfortable with. CG
  6. I only do friendly games, AC was okay since it had some structure to it and things never got out of hand. Play... cash in (maybe) and go home. We played couples poker too, husband and wife teams. My wife is a good player so we won our share. CG
  7. My grandmother taught us poker and other card games, some I forget now. We played poker in the summer in my front yard in the shade.. for pretzel sticks. Sometimes the kids from next door came over to play. Basic poker... 5 card draw, deuces wild. It was a lot of fun. CG
  8. Best off letting the kid draw his own conclusions in the game of life.. learn it all on the street corner like most of us did. We turned out okay..... CG
  9. And what's this Prince Philip shit going on... hospitalized for a bladder infection, my ass... 10 quid (or 15 rolls of Scotts standard toilet paper..) says his gonorrhea has flared up again. CG
  10. Probably since the closest thing we have to a pound note is toilet paper. CG
  11. Texas Hold 'Em... I call it Texas Scrotum since it has practically ruined poker. Any douchebag can learn it quick and they all think they should play at home like those staged TV shows depict it. But I do good against those guys.. so if a game breaks out at a party.. I'm all over it. Most games start with a $20 buy in for chips and you get cashed out at the end. Dealer's choice is good since I can get them all to play a hand of 7-card stud or standard 5-card draw. I used to go to AC (Atlantic City) with my bro inlaw's 90 year old neighbor to play poker. This guy taught me a lot about the game. We'd go in to play at the same table and not let on that we knew each other. I did okay.. he always came home with a lot of loot. The home games are a lot of fun, agree that it's better to play with friends and the total stake is maybe $120 with 5 or 6 guys playing. CG
  12. I think the only thing I have mastered in 2 weeks time was the ability to light a decent fart. An associates degree would be reasonable... log a decent amount of classroom hours and you might become a good tat artist. I would hope a pre-req would be some art classes or as part of the curriculum... adding in hygiene and some basic medical knowledge can't hurt. CG
  13. I give my wife lots of notice, show her sketches and she knows I visit my artist now and then just to BS and go over designs. My last session a few weeks back, I told her twice and had it marked on the calendar... "5/3.. tat appt @ 6:30". It kind of went in one ear and out the other. The day I went she acted all sorts of surprised and had a cow when I came back with 2 tats... how much did that cost you.. I say $250 and she says bullshit... but I told her the truth but did omit the $40 tip I gave to the artist. I always leave it open for her to go with me when I get inked to pick out something for herself. She does know my artist anyway. CG
  14. We are living parallel lives! In my case it may be a control thing on her part, the fact that I do what I want whether she likes it or not. I also got back into weight lifting a few years back (can't hang a big tat on a normal chest can we?) and am in better shape than I have been in for years. So she has issues with me changing as well. I may slow it down for a while (save up to get my foo-dog done over late this year...). I could see her point if I was doing something destructive and she is an overall fan of my artwork, which is all good quality and in good taste. CG
  15. Naw.. it means that nobody is ever going to pay the nimrod more than $6 an hour. I have a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers.. with sunglass lenses in them... imagine someone doing that? CG
  16. I caught part of one show.. stuck around for the next.... gimmee my hour back. It was atrocious at best... breeding the equivalent of kitchen sink abortionists. Of the one show, 2 or the "grads" are doing tattooing from home. TLC should be proud of themselves.... not. CG
