  1. You shouldn't be intimidated by them being high profile. They are well known because they are excellent at what they do. Generally, their rates will reflect that.

Some may be less interested in doing a small tattoo than others. Check out portfolios and see what they've been doing. At least a couple of them are rather spiritual in their approach to this style.

Don't limit the size if you can. It'd be a shame to get in with one of these guys and then wish later you'd taken more advantage of the effort it's going to take to get seated in front of one of them.

  2. Anyone come to mind?

That style is gaining some popularity and foothold. I like black and dotwork a lot, so there is some crossover - but I don't specifically follow geometrical design specialists. Aside from Hooper - Jondix, Roxx, Erik Jacobsen and Dillon Forte come to mind - all in California, I think. John Sultana works out of Saved in NYC. Believe there might be 1 or 2 in or near Toronto, too.

  3. Thank you Joe, I have been browsing the links you sent. Timothy has one piece of a thimble I really love. I wonder if anyone knows anyone who is more geometry orientated? Multiple fine lines creating complex shapes. Thanks again man.

You may need to travel a bit farther than that to get someone who specifically specializes in geometrical tattoos.

  4. I'm in the process of booking my first tattoo, will be by Victor Portugal. Really looking forward to it. It's going to cover my lower leg from ankle to knee. I'm just waiting on the final confirmation and exact sessions dates (his manager told me it should take 4/5 sessions). The only downside is that he's booking now for September 2015. So it's going to be 2,5 long years. Sucks, but hey, if you want quality work...

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting something smaller in the meantime. Heard some good things about Yliana Paoline (Yliana Paolini) . And she lives in driving distance :)

    Yay to both!!

  5. Well this isn't something awesome I've done, but I was definitely a part of it. My fiancé recently recorded his first studio album of his own compositions. Some of the songs have been in development for 10 years, so it has been really exciting going through this journey with him.

If any one is into jazz fusion (with some rock and Latin influences) you can check out his album on iTunes (it's also on Spotify). He plays drums n the album.

(Sorry for the promotion, but its just so awesome and exciting!)

Fusion has been my favorite genre for the last 10 years or so, so thanks for this and just downloaded. Love the fact they're using a lot of acoustic piano and clean guitar. Really nice, actually. If Mike is the kind of musician who does not avoid listening to his contemporaries, have him check out Johnny Vidacovich and Astral Project. I think he'll enjoy it a lot.
