  1. Saw this design years ago, and it was a must have at first sight.  The problem was that the artist is about 8000 miles from where I’m at.   I’ve traveled for tattoos, but not that far!  I caught a break though, as the artist was guesting in the USA, and I was fortunate to get a spot.  The tattoo came to me.  I didn’t even get on a plane.  How lucky is that?  I’ve been saving this forearm panel for years for this piece, without even knowing how I was going to end up getting it ever.  But it worked out in the end.   (The link below the photo is a video. The tattoo is a really wide design, so it wraps in my desired body placement and the video shows the wrapped sections)
Artist is: Manh Huynh from Vietnam.

What is the inside of the wrist like ? I've had some on the outside of the wrist by my hand and could barely feel it

I would rank inside wrist as low level discomfort, or at least I don't remember it.  I was getting something I really wanted though, so that always helps.

  3. Maybe the artists could just use some structure around what you want. Japanese, American, Realism, Surrealism, water color, trash polka, black and Grey, Color, Objects, scenes, animals, cars?

What are you circling as a jumping off point? It’s kind of vast just looking out from a hole.

  4. Maybe Something traditional & nautical themed to go with the mermaid?

Could help tie together with an eventual gap filling plan if you are thinking of gap filling eventually.

I can’t tell exactly, but it appears like the elbow is under the mermaid. So, some sort of undersea thing...?

  5. I always use a zinc based sunscreen which is the best for protection. But it’s also the greyest, thickest balm. Gets on everything like the op described. So now I wear golfing sleeves whenever I’m commuting or taking any kind of prolonged solar beat down on my arms. They’re really comfortable actually. Just google golf sleeves.

    Very cool! Thanks for sharing.

    And some Deutsche, too!

Thanks.  Since I got my first tattoo on this arm at 222, I thought it was super cool when I got the chance to have Eddy Deutsche do the last two tattoos to finish the sleeve.  Ended up being like bookends on a story.  That's why I kind of hit the gas and did two session in Dec, just because I was able to get in.  Didn't want to miss the chance.

Also, it was an elbow and a weird gap fill that I tasked him with.  I really wanted a master level person, just because I had no idea how to fill 2 such weird spaces.  So, when I was able to book with Eddy, it was perfect.

  7. Hello Last Sparrow Forum.  Got my first tattoo around 1999 at 222 Tattoo in San Francisco.  (Just to put the time in context: this was so long ago, I had to type out my idea, print it out, and FEDEX it to the shop.  Also, I actually picked up the phone, and called to make an appt)  Stopped getting tattooed around 2002.  At that point, I had an above the elbow half sleeve and 1/2 chest panel.  I didn't get tattooed again for 15 years.  Jumped back in in 2017, when I saw the amazing things that people were pulling off now.  I feel pretty fortunate to have gotten tattooed by some really cool artists.  Finished my right arm this last Christmas, and I have 98% of a full chest done.  I didn't plan on a sleeve or a chest piece when I got my first tattoo 20 years ago.  I had NO plan, but in my opinion - it's a testament to the power of great artists that my patchwork collection of dissimilar ideas can live together in some cohesive way.  I put a bunch of pictures down below.
