  1. I told myself no more tattoos for the rest of the year. So far, the tattoo gods are laughing at me slash torturing me because there have been so many amazing guest artists coming through (Hundahl, BHR, Boltz, Byrne, CAPILLI, etc.), plus I missed the Stell benefit, plus I'll be missing some Friday the 13th action... sigh. It most certainly doesn't help that I frequent this messageboard and still follow tons of tattooers and tattoo enthusiasts on the IG. Right now, the plan is to get tattooed on 1/1/14. I hope one of my shops will be open. I'm thinking of going in later in the day, because I don't want to catch an artist too hungover from New Year's Day festivities.
  2. I'm kinda not into getting a back piece extending to my butt neither, but what am I really gonna get tattooed on my butt instead? One shots will look kinda weird. So yeah, full on back piece extending to the butt... I'm on board. I wanted to start my back piece soon, but I always tell myself to wait till I'm in a committed relationship, so she can apply the lotion afterwards, haha. Or should I just get it done while I'm single and dry heal the damn thing? Kinda joking, kinda serious, haha.
  3. Awesome tattoo. I love the way this is stitched together. Looks so clean.
  4. Jesus Slug by Jason Mcafee @ Temple Tattoo in Oakland, CA
  5. By Jason Mcafee at Temple Tattoo, Oakland CA
  6. Happened to me too on the back of my calf. My tattooer had to pin my leg down. I apologized but he understood.
  7. By Phil Hatchet Yau at Master Tattoo in San Diego, CA. What a rad dude to get tattooed by. I met Drew Linden there too, she's super chill! I thought Phil switched to a rotary at one point, but he was using lidocaine instead (which was awesome). I've met only one other tattooer that uses Bactine during tattoo sessions.
  8. 90 percent of my tattoos don't mean anything. But sometimes I like to come up with crazy stories as to what they "mean". I'm easily amused. - - - Updated - - - Totally agree. That's exactly why I don't get those "Dear John" tattoos. I wouldn't want to be constantly reminded that I just got dumped.
  9. From my experience, it can get crowded. And I don't think you can pick your artist. You just get whoever is available next.
  10. Like I said on IG, amazing stuff man. What an amazing trip to LA.
  11. Hey do you post on B9 too? I lurk the tattoo thread and saw that you were asking about Stu? He did a snake on my thigh in one shot. Took maybe 2-2.5 hours. He had two separate snake designs (a one shot and a two session version).
  12. Glad it all worked out. 3rd times the charm. If I ever need to get tattooed in Brooklyn, I'm sure you would do the same for me. BTW, I can't tell what part of your arm that is. - - - Updated - - - Nice one! I love how you displayed the entire wrap around. I've seen only a handful of tattooers do the same. Way better than picstitch. - - - Updated - - - Everyone at Spider Murphy kills. I'd still love to get a piece from Bryan, Matt, Heather, Jeremy. Theo too, but I heard he has a long wait list.
  13. Tomas Garcia keeps a book filled with line drawings of stuff he wants to do. He had like 6 designs I really wanted and I only thumbed through 1/3rd of it. I'll be paying him a visit again soon to get more work done.
  14. Get Pharoah's Moz's.
  15. I want to get tattooed by Jeff Rassier ASAP. When I got tattooed by Robert Ryan, all I asked for was a skull with a hand coming out of it. He pretty much took care of the rest.
  16. Looks like Amanda Wachob's work. I believe she works out of NYC. I don't know anyone else doing this kinda work though.
  17. This will definitely be referenced for a potential Portland trip. Thanks David!
  18. Nice tattoo, Mark! She's on my hit list too. Her pinups are killer.
  19. Dan Wysuph, Ben Siebert, Dustin Wengreen, Sergio Hernandez, Phillip Yau are some of the more underrated folks I'm digging right now.
  20. Dan was at Black Heart a few days ago. I don't know if he's taking walk ups, but if he is I'm super bummed I can't get tattooed by him at the moment. I'm really trying to stick to my new rule of healing one tattoo at a time, even if it means missing out on guest spots from out of towners.
