  1. @hollyjoybee, I do not have a chest peice, just a tattoo that inches it's way onto my chest. Any normal girl shirts dont cover more than half of her face. It's a cool tattoo and I love it, but to have a tattoo on your chest (as a woman) opens you up to some definitely interesting experiences. After having my tattoo now for 6 months, I can definitely say I would never get a full chest piece, if this is what it is like to have a tattoo that comes in onto your chest.

So, to round out my confessional, do what you please, but I'd suggest giving it time. Draw that fucker on once a week, put on your lowest cut shirt, see how you feel, then put on a normal shirt, see how you feel. If you still dig the idea in 6,7,8 months time, then go and get it done.

Plus, getting tattooed is a journey, not a race. I know you've been getting a lot of tattoos lately, and with something as big of a commitment as a chest peice, (whereas with your arm and leg tattoos, they can be easily covered), you need a bit of simmer time on that idea.

On one more note, im glad you made this thread, I talked about it in the chest peice thread. definitely should post up images of women's chestpieces to ogle and admire and maybe inspire you!

  2. Curious - what is your grudge against Spanish? As a Poli-Sci major, certainly you recognize the advantage if you intend to enter public service? (It's either that or Mandarin!) Assuming of course that you are North American.

Because I live in California, where everyone speaks spanish, and if you dont, then you are expected to learn. Fuck that. Nothing against it as a language, it's the expectation of the average person that I must know spanish that pisses me off. There are plenty of people who speak spanish here in CA, I'm not gonna go rank and file.

  3. If you're good at language but don't like speaking, give Latin a try. No speaking, just reading and writing comprehension. Inflected languages are a challenge if you don't have any experience with them, but you'd have a leg up since you already know one Romance language. It's fun, and there are definitely uses for it, but it's not so great for say, going abroad and trying to figure out where anything is. I wish I had a couple more of those speak-y languages under my belt!

I didn't have a mid-college slump, but I definitely had a mid-grad school slump. Of epic proportions. I believe there's still a seminar paper I owe someone from 2008, and every time I see that professor at a conference I give him the guilty face.

I enjoy speaking immensely, but my accent is so terrible and my flow of words forms perfectly in my head and stumbles out of my lips.

I'd definitely love to learn another, but where do I go from French? Everyone says spanish but I have a grudge against it. Also, how do you keep all the languages seperate in your head when you know more then one? I get french and english mixed up all the time.

  4. Thanks! Super ironic because I just checked my french grade and I got a C. I want to hang my head in shame, but what can I expect after blowing my oral exam, and then getting a few average test grades? Idk I was lazy this semester but I did learn alot. anyone else have that mid college slump?

Anywho, I need some practical speaking experience, I sound super American when I speak. My ability to speak french is at a 5/10, while my comprehension and writing are more like a 7/10 (10 being fluent)

  5. Love the language nerdiness. Two of my best friends are polyglots, one speaks: Tagalog, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Hebrew, dabbles in Latin, and is going to Brazil for two Months to learn Portuguese.

My other friend speaks: Urdu, English, Hindko (? Idk the spelling, it's a Pakistani tribal language), Arabic, a bit of french, and Hindi.

As for myself, I'm a good language learner, but so far have only done one other language, French.

Any who, Im planning on double majoring in French and Political science. And who knows, maybe pick up more languages along the way? But I've been afraid to branch out past french, and i hate spanish with a passion

  6. Unfortunately not everyone can afford such amazing imagery to be tattooed on their skin. Yeah they can save up longer instead of getting the tattoo right then and there, but I'm sure you know how it is to want a tattoo and not be able to afford that huge beautiful piece.

The music I listen to does create strong imagery for me though, that's why mine aren't all text, but they are heavily text based. But I still don't see anything wrong with all text tattoos if that's what a person wants.

because people who walk around looking like dictionaries or novels isnt good. they dont age well, and it's pointless when you can sum up those words into an image.

  7. Ok, I'll play, though it is a tough month on this thread once again with lots of superb entries already.

My sleeve has recently been finished and has nearly healed, the work was done by Mo Copoletta at The Family Business in London, it took seven three hour sessions which between December and May. I have already posted a few in progress shots but this is the finished product.

  8. Im kind of feeling this. Everytime I look at my leg, I realize it's marked forever, with a really big tattoo. I didnt really think it out that much. Not to say that I dont love it, Im enamored of it, but I feel a little bit like a took a big leap, idk how to explain it, but when I look at my leg, I finally feel really tattooed. Not like heavily tattooed, but like I feel like a tattooed person for the first time. The other ones are no bigger than my palm to my first knuckle of my hand, so they didnt make me feel like I was that tattooed. It's scary. I realize I'm going to look like this for every day of my life, until I am an old lady. And while I love my tattoos, I want to really think hard about getting any more. It is a big commitment to be tattooed. One that shouldnt be taken lightly.

  9. It all depends on the event, how busy it is and the people involved. But for the most part when people say no changes, they mean no changes. Making something orange, instead of red seems like an easy request, but once you start that, you have to start entertaining everyone's color requests and I know from experience if you allow people any input they want all the input. That being said, it may not be no big deal for the person doing it, but you just never know and remember you are getting what you pay for in these scenarios.

    Edit

BTW i think the coolest one of these special tattoo days I can remember was done about 8 years ago here in portland for Halloween. You basically stuck your arm or leg into a curtain, you didn't know who was tattooing you or what you were getting until the tattoo was done, but you did get to look at the sheet, you just had to be cool with getting anything on there. I didn't get tattooed, but it seemed like a fun idea.

I'd love to do the curtain thing. I'd have to really like the flash but I love the idea. Do you get a say on where it goes on your arm or leg?

  10. Speaking of tattoo healing...I've got a couple of questions regarding a foot tattoo that i'm hanging out to get.

I play a fair bit if sport which means im wearing football boots three times a week, so my question is, with the healing process being what it is, and a sweaty confined foot stuck in a sock in a football boot obviously not being the greatest place for it to heal, would I need to maybe take a week off? say saturday to saturday (hypothetical) to allow it time to breathe and heal, or should I just wait til the end of the season?

Kills me because the season only just started about 3 weeks ago...haha

    cheers

To me it's simple. If you want it, do it, but remember to protect your investment... which probably means no soccer.
