Lots of great traditional tattooers in and around the area (especially if you make the trip to SF/Oakland). Hope the laser treatments go well and you end up with the tattoo you want.

Welcome, Kym. You're in luck, the bay area is full of outstanding tattooers. What exactly are you looking to have done? Maybe we can point you in the right direction...

Birthday bro tats with my best friend, done by Gordon Combs of Art Work Rebels. Gordon applied my first tattoo in 2008 in San Francisco (and tattooed my friend that same year), been awesome following his work in recent years.
Photo taken from Gordon's IG. Mine's on the right...

This thread is making me real jealous...

Something must be wrong with my browser, I don't see any pictures...

Oh sure, I actually meant history in general. I was thinking specifically about the first time I heard about the First Nations people and how similar some of their history is to US Native Americans, and yet theirs is much less known to us below the border. Tattoo history is even more obscure to the general public, though equally important to a select few (including many of us LSTers).
Basically: history is cool.

Great watch, thanks for posting that. Many of us in the States remain ignorant of Canadian history, so it's always nice to see and hear things like this to remind us that we're not isolated from one another.

Welcome to LST. Care to share any photos of your tattoo collection?

Welcome! Who will be doing your tattoo? What did you decide on, and where (on your body) are you getting it?

Hell of a month, everybody!!
Rabbit rabbit.

It was a good day.... besides getting 3 killer tattoos, I got to hang out and bullshit with Chad Koeplinger and Robert Ryan and the rest of the GLT crew plus it was Robert Ryan's "The Radiant Name" art opening downstairs. GLT is probably the nicest shop I've ever been in and everybody was super nice and fun.....
I guess 'jealous' begins to describe it...

@McAstronaut - I love seeing such a (relatively) simple design blown up and executed so well as a backpiece. I hope you love it, that's a cool fucking tattoo!
-
Welcome, Ante! Do you have any tattoos yourself? We always love pics...

agreed. and of the remaining likeable 1/3rd, I don't want to be around them 2/3rds of the time. and that 1/3rd of tolerable time with likeable people usually occurs after consuming 2/3rds of a 6-pack.
Math!

This was the bump I was looking for! Can't wait for more, thanks @suburbanxcore and @Iwar

@Graeme - yours is one of those tattoos that just grabs the viewer right away, and then all those details just keep coming out the more you look at it. I bet you're real excited to finish it!
And @ItsNewport - fucking phenomenal!! That's a real powerful tattoo.

Lone wolf?
Pick an artist, and talk to him or her about what might represent your ideas AND look good as a tattoo. Welcome!

Wish I could, but I'll be in the last week of finishing my bachelor's degree and prepping for a month-long trip to Nicaragua in the middle of June. No money + no time = missing out on awesome guest artists :(
Enjoy Portland! I'll look forward to you posting the tattoos you make!
edit: I didn't mean for this to sound like I'm bragging, it just sorta came out that way. I really do wish I could take advantage of your visit to get tattooed, but such is life.
Why hello there

Welcome! We're surrounded by great shops and artists here in Portland. Lots of good stuff coming out of Art Work Rebels, Atlas, Lombard St., and Scapegoat to name just a few. If you let us know what you're thinking about getting we can steer you towards particular artists.
