  1. A few weeks ago one of the challenges was to cut hair...somehow this was supposed to indicate if a tattoo artist could execute solid line work or not. I'm not an artist but I just didn't get it at all and turned me off even more. I prefer the show that focuses on tattoo cover ups although I can do without all the damn crying.
  2. I made out pretty well, never lost power and only had a few small branches come down. The CT shore was pounded and was really devastated with flooding. I think there were 2 storm related deaths here, a fireman and an elderly woman who were both hit by falling trees. The pictures from our shoreline and NYC are crazy.
  3. CT is on the northern, windy side of the storm so we're not getting as much rain as other states. It also helps a little that I live inland but the coast of CT is getting terrible flooding from enormous waves from LI sound. Right now I am getting some heavy rain but the wind is gusting over 70 mph and there's a lot of downed trees. I almost got hit by a falling branch while driving home from work this afternoon. For now I'm just hoping I don't lose power and I'll assess the damage in the morning from the wind. I feel bad for the people whose homes and businesses will be ruined on the coast, many of whom just rebuilt after last years storm. Basically, I'm just sitting back with a beer and letting mother nature do its thing. Tomorrow morning will be a serious dose of reality.
  4. I just wanted to say a quick "good luck" to those of us who live in the northeast U.S. as we brace for the pending hurricane this week. I'm in CT and it's supposed to hit us on Mon/Tues but I know there's other members in NY, etc., who are also expected to get hit hard. I lost power last year for almost a week during a crazy October snow and ice storm and that was certainly no fun so I'm hoping like hell the hurricane isn't as bad as they're predicting. I hope everyone stays safe, including myself and my family.
  5. You're right @SStu. I think it was originally posted on tattoosnob a week or so ago as a commercial type of of ad for Off the Map tattoo in Mass. I had forgotten they were filming the day I was in with Shane O'Neill since it was a couple of years ago. Pretty cool though to see me getting tattooed in a commercial.
  6. Yesterday we spent a beautiful fall day up in Vermont.
  7. Even though I'm a baseball fan from the east coast, at least I know I won't be getting a NY Yankees logo anytime soon. I guess I'll also be holding off on my Arod portrait tattoo. :D
  8. Jeff Zuck, Michigan WWW.JEFFZUCK.COM Larry Brogan, Illinois Tattoo City Skin Art Studio, Lockport, IL The Best Tattoos in Chicagoland
  9. I probably won't get my hopes up but his guest spot was just announced and I gave him a couple of ideas so what the hell.
  10. I sent an email to Russ Abbott since I just noticed he's doing a rare guest spot in my area. It wouldn't be until next year but we'll see what happens. I really like his work but he's very selective.
  11. I witnessed this first hand in August at a small, first time convention in Hartford. Some crazy looking artist named Amy Nicoletto from LA Ink was highly promoted and swarmed at the convention. She's not even a very good artist but she actually shared top artist billing with Stefano Alcantara due to her celebrity status from being on TV. People were all around her trying to book time with her and take her picture, she must have made some good money that weekend. Even my girlfriend was starstruck and didn't understand why I didn't give a damn about her. And I think tonight is the first episode of Ink Master season 2. It comes on at the same time as Sons of Anarchy...Hmmm, I wonder which one I'll watch.
  12. Thanks, I read up on them a little more. I'll probably give them a shot for the hell of it although they're not cheap. My forearms are pretty good so that's not really a concern, I actually don't want my forearms to become disproportionately big. But it also sounds as if they can help blast the upper arm, too, which is always good as well as having grip and stabilizing effects as @Brock Varty mentioned. I ride motorcycles and shoot handguns so a strong grip is beneficial to those activities also.
  13. I don't have an elaborate home system but I'm still using my old Nikko amp and Bozak floor speakers bought in the 80's, and they still sound good.
  14. What is the main purpose of the fat grips? I was looking at their website and still wasn't sure of the benefits. It sounds like they're effective in grip strength and forearm building but what else? I don't have very big hands so I'd be concerned with certain exercises.
  15. Here's just a few off the top of my head in the northeast: Dennis Del Prete, Providence Rhode Island: Providence Tattoo - TATTOOS Chris Tavino, Danbury, CT Hat City Tattoo » Gallery Adam Lauricella, Wappinger Falls, NY http://www.adamlauricella.com/ Civ, Sayville, NY http://lotustattoo1.com/ (and its probably a type-o but the correct name is Jay Audette at Flying Tiger in CT)
  16. I'm actually not too familiar with Dana's work although I've definitely heard his name. He's doing a guest spot near me too in the northeast soon I think. I'll have to look him up, is he known for anything in particular?
  17. Welcome man, and yeah those seats are cool as hell.
  18. He posted the same shit on 2 other forums I think. At least one I know of for sure.
  19. 2 years, pretty cool. Thanks to everyone involved for a hosting a different, more enjoyable type of tattoo forum.
  20. I agree. And here's wishing you and your family the best, good luck.
  21. Maybe I'm wrong but I wonder if Murray Sell is adequately recognized? Flying Tiger Tattoo - MURRAY SELL
