  1. My #3 son has an Ironhead, no problems with it at all. And he weighs MAYBE 140. Those things only weigh 530 lbs wet, so they aren't too hard to handle. If you like 'em, try one-you might be surprised.

The bags I got at a garage sale outside Chicago for $15. Spent another $100 to have Kelly, RiP, put new tops and fringe on em. They're factory from the late forties.

    what a lucky find!!

I'm only 5'2" LOL... I have long legs ...so my upper body is basically useless LOL... my bike is just under 310lbs dry... haha...

hubby's bike I can't even hold up for him while he looks at something, if it leans im done...

I thought ironheads were heavier than that - but they are a lonng big bike compared to "The Nub" (My bikes sad nickname LOL)... Eventually maybe I will give it a shot and pass it off to hubby reluctantly if it's a no-go... but my height hinders me ..I'm stubborn but saftey first...

  2. i guess on a side note building on the last comment by tattooedgirl, in the past, dating the un-tattooed was a problem.

a 2 year relationship of mine ended over me wanting a very large ribcage tattoo.... he did not want this to happen.. i left.lol. sounds fickle but it was my body - and i could see clearly that it was going to be an issue...

I warned my husband when we started dating that if he didnt like tattoos he probbabbblyyy would be unimpressed with seeing me in the nude...lol... (mine are usually fairly covered but there are A LOT of them) . Luckily- he loves tattoos..

i think it throws a lot of men off when a woman does not apppearrrr to have tattoos... Im a kind of barbie-ish blonde girl with a love of pink and high high heals LOL... i get flack in the shop by men coming in thinking i dont work there...and or my lack of looking overly alternative somehow discredits me on some level?? kind of sad..

anyway where i'm going with that is that at some point, i think if you are heavily tattooed, or in the process, and your partner is not, and is never going down that road - it can cause HUGE problems...

Also, if you are a woman an heavily tattooed, and the man does not realize it, that can be a shocker and an issue.lol.

AND THEN my final statement: The kinds of partners that are often attracted to heavily tattooed people simply for that "look" are often headcases.... not our fault!!! but its a screening procress!!!! It sounds like many of us here are really lucky to have found good matches, but eeeeeesh I'm sure you've all seen it happen.!

Sled still looks the same, but I MAY have changed a tad over the years...

    DSCF2917_zps04fd2924.jpg

Got this one to sell, but I haven't been able to let it out of my garage yet...

Got a few more, another Shovel and an old Ironhead. Wouldn't have a new bike.

Ahhh Ironhead *drooooooools*. I wish I'd grown more *flexes* but unfortunately at my size I have no hope in hell of riding something that heavy :( Mannnnn do they ever have endless possibilities though... you can do so so so so much with an ironhead.

I saw one kicking around here on kijiji... I was so tempted.. but that was a moment of personal illusion of grandeur lol.. and if i bought one there'd be no way in hell i'd let it be my hubby's bike...id kill myself on it LOL

ps- i love the old saddlebags. looove.

  4. Tattoos and bikes, they often go together.

I'm rebuilding a 1986 honda rebel 450 into a softail bobber - its a fun journey. Slow goin's ordering all the parts from random places since they only made it for two years..but I love that damn bike..at my size it's perfect.

My husband is just finishing up building a 1981 yamaha xs850 into a bobber.. honestly that bike shape has a really ominous and awesome look to it when you bare-bones it .. the ways you can custom and tweak it are amazing...another really fun adventure.

TC bros = a godsend for parts.

    What about you guys?

Bikes you have/ and or bikes you're building?

  5. Just don't let him get your name, a.k.a. the kiss of death.

lol my husband has my first and middle name in big custom swirly script letters on his Neck with a bigass diamond...

people keep asking wht will happen if we split

we've been through some crap with him being in the military..if you can make it through that u can make it through almost anything...but if it ever comes to that i will happy help him remove it with a cheese grater

    lol

    i have his name too

it's not something i'd recommend to most people ? but there are some I dont think it's strange and or wrong at all

eg- bikers. you are not going to stop bikers from getting old lady name tattoos. lol not gonna happen. just go with it.lol. culture thing.

  6. that's fair enough.. Theres a fair few great shops in that area of the UK that are having to deal with this kind of thing alot.. and are ending up fixing lots of mistakes! i just cant understand how people end up with these tattoos.. DO THEY NOT HAVE EYES?!?!?!

Social politics plays a big role.lol

In the shop I work in at the moment about 70% of people that come in either want to cover up something terrible or ask about covering something during the time that they are in the shop. It's crazy how much terrible work comes out of shops.

I deal with the same and have some work I myself need reworked and or covered... (on my own body)

is she an apprentice? If she's an apprentice than I understand. We don't all START at a high level

  7. Back of the knee was pretty hard for me. I had trouble walking stairs and it would itch badly. I eventually had to have the whole thing redone because it healed so uneven. I think it was partially due to my new jeans being to stiff and full of nasty chemicals, but also just from the spot being really difficult to heal.

back of the knee just sounds obnoxiously painful lol

  8. I think it's weird that any shop advertises price PERIOD! I mean "discount" could mean "full price" in reality.

I think shop specials are fun. Sailor Jerry day, or Halloween or Friday the 13th. Usually things like that, now a days, aren't on the radio or tv and only popped up on Instagram a few days earlier. The only people who'd know are those following anyway.

But I've seen "Get $100 of tattoo work for $60!" banners. It turns me off. I'm already like "what would you consider '$100 worth' of tattoo work?" The best artists I know don't go around advertising their prices, they're always fair and awesome and have no need for that crap.

I've gotten a few "specials" at shops that I've gotten full pricers from too. Which reminds me, today's Rollo's birthday (RIP) and there's a special going on....I need a baby sitter.

    My sentiments exactly.

  9. Thanks for the heads up. I might just do that come convention time. But I still want to visit AWR. Hell, I still want to visit Portland. Dan Gilsdorf moved back up so that gives me another reason to visit.

And I hear that the strippers are hipsters. Stripsters, if you wheeel. And that there's a shuttle that takes you from brewery to brewery to brewery. If that ain't enough incentive to visit, I don't know what is.

    LOL that sounds traumatizing. haha..

  10. I am loving all of these.. I believe I'll be doing finger tats on my husband in a couple of weeks.. He's kicking around the Sink & Swim idea.. all suggestions of other possibilities are greatly appreciated.

I'm worried about doing them..he works for the govt and has gotten the "okie dokie" and already has highly visible neck tattoos and the top 1/2 of one hand... if he already has that - do you think finger tats are really pushing it much further?

    Thoughts?

There's a fat guy bartender who works at a barbecue joint in town who has KING SIZE tattooed across his. I like that one a lot.

    I'm loving that lol

  11. My impulse tattoo was huge lol

I went to a great artist an got "stay true" in bigswirly custom script form hip bone to hip bone across my front, with two cotton candy colored swallows , one on each hip bone, holding the ends of the letters in their beaks...its huge and goes pretty damn low...and its my fav tat on my whole body.lol if I ever have children I am screwed.

  12. One of the moms at my kids school has a big cock tattooed on her forearm, that gets a lot of attention.

One of the guys who frequents our shop got a big olschool greywash Moth on his arm..but the way its shaped, and shaded the tail of the bug, and the double wing on one side...well the wing look like two wrinkley male...you know...and the tail looks like.you know..an uncircumcised dick.lol

    and its ..very...very obvious..

he is not pleased - we all find it hilarious
