I'm reviving this because I've seen several watercolor style tattoos in the past couple of weeks - I don't know how old they were, they were old enough to be settled in the skin but still bright and they looked not so hot - super blurred out, leaving the viewer thinking, "what is that? Why does that look so bad? Oh, that's a watercolor cherry..." Wah-wah-waaaaaah.

I'm so sorry for you loss @SeeSea. I think a monmon cat memorial is a perfect idea.

It's okay @TrixieFaux - it was meant to be. We'll be in CA again in 2015 for my husband's tattoo, I'll get it done then :) The sketch was so perfect too, all I did was send him a list of "things about Norton" I felt he should know, and photos. Sigh. We almost took home a cat I found in a triangular on/off ramp space in upstate NY last year. My husband refused to let me take him home (a little orange male kitten) so we brought him to the local shelter, he was gone within a week to a new home.

I'm still working out the idea, for a while I was thinking about a crane (or heron) with a pine tree as part of the background, but have rethought that for a number of reasons. One being that I already have birds in my preexisting work, and I am not sure that I want to be covered in different kinds of birds. A couple of years ago I was all about having a deer and peach tree and was ready to start working on it, decided to hold off and do other work, and now I'm all "naw, I don't want no birds or deer, I want a dragon!" I am undecided as to whether or not I want to go with water/wind bars because I like the negative space that is created - although the whole protective element from being totally covered is super appealing, and water and wind bars are gorgeous - we'll see. Would be Japanese/Tibetan - I love the flow of lines and movement. I'm not ready to start working on my back, will continue to plot and fantasize in the meantime (and work on getting more tattoos.)

You give me hope for my collaboration dreams @ironchef. I've been working on an email to two artists for about a year, one day I'll get it sent when I decide what I'd like to do (am getting there!!!)

I like that @ironchef - standard for the cat lovers at LST! I'm totally a crazy cat person, I'm not ashamed.

Same thing with me @scubaron and the day-of. (This is part of the reason why having to cancel an appointment in May was so heartbreaking, it was the first time I got to see a sketch before the tattoo session, and now I get to deal with vividly knowing what it is I'm missing.) I kinda like the trust that one has to have with the day-of stencil/tattoo timing.

What does the original tattoo artist have to say about it? How long is the wait - a couple months, a year, etc? I'd rather wait than have someone else do the touch-up work, personally.

A friend can't speak highly enough of Fat Ram's Pumpkin Tattoo - her favorite tattoo is from Fat Ram.

Not in my relationship, and I'd never ask a partner to get a tattoo. It's not my style. Now, if there's interest then I would encourage.

I failed my first driving test, because I was speeding and then argued with the proctor about why my speeding was legitimate. Yep.
