  1. My daughters did that when they decided to go for short hair.
  2. Taking the family to Riot Fest in September. they just announced the lineup and some other things. It just keeps getting better and better.
  3. We went to Chicago and got rain on Sunday, Day 3, But that was nothing compared to what I heard happened in Denver. We had such a good time I bought the whole family tix again at the pre sale at Thanksgiving without even knowing what the line up would be. They still have a bunch they won't announce until early August. Some will drop off too. Motorhead and Bad Brains had to drop off last year due to health issues. Sucks getting old.
  4. Cramps, Exploited, Suicidal Tendencies, Etc...
  5. That was just in Lafayette. You don't even want to know who came through Chicago and Cincinnati.
  6. Yeah, none of it will be too big. A hand sized piece on my lower leg and just filling in some background color on my arm.
  7. But that is why he is soooooo punk rock.
  8. That was what I was thinking but never having been in a situation to be able to get two tattoos in such a short time frame I thought it better to ask the question than not.
  9. That tiny little club in Lafayette Indiana, where I grew up, had some really impressive bands come through. I did not even realize at the time how lucky I was for the fact that I was in the middle of nowhere midwest. Op Ivy, Dag Nasty, Naked Raygun, Zero Boys, Toxic Reasons, KGB, Screeching Weasel, SS20. Damn that was a fun time.
  10. I saw them in a tiny little club in Lafayette Indiana. I was there to open the club for them when they showed up. The funk that came out of that van when they opened the door is something I will likely never forget until the day I die. fucking awesome show though, He kept jumping around between songs saying "We just want to be your friends!!!!"
  11. I've been looking around and haven't seen this topic come up. I have a session booked with a guy, now postponed but it will likely be sometime the week of the 19th. Sometime about 2 or 3 weeks after that I'm going to have to go to Denver for work where the guy lives who did my big TARDIS. We still need to finish some stuff up around it and I don't get out there all that often, about once every 2 years. So is there an amount of time you should wait between tattoo sessions? They are not going to be on the same parts of the body and both are clean, professional shops. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are. Thanks,
  12. Bought the family tickets to Riot Fest in Chicago last year. got to see some great stuff. Bad Religion, GWAR, Suicidal Tendencies, FLAG, Pennywise, and even some stuff my youngest daughter likes (14) Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, All Time Low. We have tickets for this year, their tenth anniversary but they haven't released the lineup yet. GBH did mention on their facebook that they would be playing though.
  13. I always hear the name of that book in the voice of Jello Biafra in my head.
  14. Just noticed this thread and was glad to see that someone mentioned Austin Lucas. He is awesome and I've known him since he was about 13. Used to be room mates with his brother who owns a bar thing in Prague these days. If you've not heard Devil Makes Three they are pretty fun too.
  15. My guys sent me some texts last night saying his grandmother has to go in for surgery the day of our appointment. He was really apologetic about it. I told him not to worry and to go take care of his grandma. We can make another appointment when that situation has stabilized. I mean, damn dude, go take care of her. I guess some people can be real dicks because he seemed genuinely surprised at my response. Family first, all the way. It might have been a bit different if I had a cross country trip planned for the appointment but I would hope my reaction would still be the same.
  16. My wife said she doesn't really care what I get other than she has ultimate veto and approval power over whatever I do for a chest piece.
  17. Seriously. - - - Updated - - - I have a backup plan of a red winged blackbird on a post if we just can't get it.
  18. My wife and I always discuss and agree before spending decent amounts of money, usually anything over a C note. She had been blowing me off on my requests for tattoo money for a long time, a year or two. She thought I was just wanting to get the two really bad tattoos I had covered up and that would be the end of it, and it has been about two years since I had those covered. Finally we had a long talk about it and I explained that I've been into tattoos since I was a little kid in the 70's looking at the Outlaw Biker magazines in the bookstores. I got some really bad punk rock tats when I was a teenager and, in some amazing moment of clarity, realized just how bad they were. I had no idea how to go about getting good tattoos, every penny I had went to booze and drugs, and I didn't want to end up looking like GG Allin so I stopped with the tattoos. then I got older, had kids, sobered up, got a good job and took care of my kids and family and now that the kids are mostly grown (19 and 15) I wanna spend some cash and get some really nice tattoos from really good tattooers. And now I know how to find them and, because of this site, I know even more about what makes a good tattoo that will last. this is important as I'm entering my mid 40 and I can already tell that the skin is changing a bit from when I was younger. After that talk it is all good. Now when we are planning trips or vacations she doesn't get as frustrated when I start mentioning all the awesome tattooers in the area and asking if we can set aside 1K and drop me off for a day while they go do something.
  19. Thanks guys, yeah, as I got to looking at his stuff on a larger screen I got more and more excited about his work. I think this is going to turn out very well. I will post some shots once it is done and then after it has healed up.
  20. So I went into the shop to make an appointment for my morel tattoo and the guy I wanted to do it wasn't there. I got to talking to the other artist in the shop, I did not know he had someone else there, and we got to talking about it and he was really excited about the idea. His neighbor had just given him a small batches of morels the night before and he had fried them up and apparently were just talking about them before I came in. So after talking with this guy for a while about what I was wanting to do (2 morels stylized to american traditional, some grass and sky or something for a background, and some sort of border) I just made an appointment with him because he was so into it. Just as I was walking out the guy he had been working on was walking back in from a smoke break. He was getting some sort of motorcycle thing on the inside of his bicep. It was still being outlined but as I was walking away and back to the car I started thinning that what I just saw wasn't very good. I went to get some lunch and as I was sitting there I realized I hadn't even looked at this guy's book. He was just so excited by the idea and I was glad to see that that I just went with it. So now I'm freaking out a little bit but he did give me his card with his IG on ti so I started looking at it on my phone and was relieved to see some good work. Now I'm and old drunk who, while now sober, is still really good at lying to himself and making himself feel that he has done something great when he has really just fucked some shit up. I have a lot of respect for y'all on here so I was hoping you might look at this guy's IG and tell me if I really am seeing some decent work or if I'm just lying to myself to make myself feel better about fucking up. His IG is jeremegalloway and I have an appointment with him to do this on the 16th. I am pretty excited for the appointment so I hope it all goes well. I've seen some really good and some really bad (more bad than good) morel tattoos so while I'm excited I also don't want something that looks like a giant pecker on my leg. ;-D Thanks,
  21. I would cover up that shamrock, it can be taken the wrong way in the wrong places.
