  5. It's not so much hipster as a combination of what are often regarded as common/cliched "female" tattoo ideas. Common/cliched "male" tattoo ideas are usually treated more kindly.
  6. But maybe he really, really, really enjoys that one hour...?

    Hello

Except with parental permission: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_tattooing_in_the_United_States Not that I'm recommending this! The OP's question is because she is from Tennessee, which has an absolute ban on under-18s, and she wants to go to Kentucky where under 18 is (apparently) allowed with parental consent.

    Hey!

  9. I'm glad it was deliberate and it wasn't just my dirty mind interpreting it that way! But maybe it could be some type of Rorschach test for how people view it...?
  10. Which is about 12 minutes walk from my house... Maybe I should have tried to get an appointment as well!
  11. Isn't this a duplicate of your other thread? http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/initiation/7311-tattoo-fixing.html
  12. Getting tattoos could help keep you from getting sick
  13. Tipping is generally at a lower level in the UK than in the US. (I'm a citizen of both places.) In general I dislike tipping and would rather just have everything included in the price. (e.g. as in restaurants in Japan.) Following US customs in the UK is often not appropriate. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g186216-s606/United-Kingdom:Tipping.And.Etiquette.html I also dislike the "tipping inflation" that seems to be happening in the US at the moment - particularly at places where you order at the counter and pay with a credit card and sign on an iPad! The lowest tip listed is often 15% or 20%, whereas I had got used to 15% being the default tip when you got full service at your table. OK, rant over! (For now...)
  14. I was also recommended by a dermatologist (who I saw for something else) not to get a tattoo over any moles.
  15. Sorry for your recent loss. My two tattoos are both very indirectly related to my parents - who are not around any more. But the connections are extremely loose - I prefer that to something explicit.
  16. Please stop it! (In the UK) Thanks...
  17. As others may have commented, I think you should be choosing one particular artist more than the shop. You're only going to be tattooed by one person and you should choose him/her. i.e. the work done by other people there doesn't really affect the work done by your artist. And the various people at the shop can specialize in different styles. If you're going to be in the Bethesda area and you've not already done so, I suggest you check out Tattoo Paradise which has several branches in the area. And going a little farther there are quite a number of places in Baltimore.
  18. Thanks for the comments - especially the example of greywash vs. opaque grey. My source crow is from a coat of arms which was done in solid black which I thought would look too "heavy" without something modified e.g. more feather texture at least.
  19. I met with a local tattoo artist the other day to discuss my ideas for a crow tattoo and he's going to sketch something out. He mentioned using "opaque gray" - a term I'd not noticed before. From a quick google I see that opaque gray is an alternative to watering down black. What do people think of the use of opaque gray/grey in general, and for a crow in particular...?? Thanks!
  20. I find the beeping very annoying (particularly when I'm watching on netflix). I wish they'd either not beep it, or have a script which didn't "need" to be beeped.
  21. Not to be too much of a wet blanket, but.... if tattoos would negatively affect your relationship and work maybe you should hold off? Or at least get somewhere not generally exposed??
