  1. Completely sucks. I'm feeling bummed for you. One deductible at a time isn't so bad, but three....ugh.
  2. Favorite quote: "...over time I learned how to draw and tattoo a koi fish without it looking like a chopped off penis with a human eye and sprinkles, or a dragon so that it didn’t look like a barfing sock puppet, or a woman’s face so she didn’t look like a man, or lettering that didn’t look like it was done with your foot!" I feel so bad for someone when I see one of those koi penises.
  3. LOL! Yeah, those silent milestones that no one else really understands :-)
  4. Welcome! Yes, there are a ton of sites out there of dubious quality. It's really hard to tell what's going on so I'd hate to speculate. Did your sister's tattoo heal ok? If so, don't worry. Best thing to do is make sure you are caring for it properly and making sure to put very very little lotion or product on it after washing. Do what the artist told you to do. Head over to the aftercare subforms and surf around. Some tattoos can go through some gnarly heals and end up fine so just wait it out and see.
  5. @Suiren - i love your tree :) I think it settled nicely. - - - Updated - - - Are you kidding?!? I LOVE your french-fry bird!
  6. Sounds like you've got a plan! And you also did the right thing up front by asking for responses from tattoo artists for their perspective on these types of questions. You might want to bring in a list of your last 5 sexual partners too, you know, just in case they ask. ;)
  7. Straight lines leave little room for error. Going over something again has a chance of making it look like there was a second pass unless everything is thickened as you suspected, and that might not be any better. From his FB, it looks like line work isn't his where is action is. There is only one other geometric tattoo with lines like yours, and it's unfortunate IMO. Personally, I wouldn't go back for line work like this, but if there is another type of tattoo you'd like, some of his stuff looks pretty cool. How perfect does it have to be? As perfect as you want it to be, but keep in mind these types of tattoos leave much less room for error than nice flowery or organic looking tattoos. Artists sent you away for small "simple" tattoos? Sheesh. Like your money isn't good enough? My first tattoo was small and took maybe 15 minutes. I had to pay the minimum which was higher than the amount of time it took to get the tattoo. Big deal. Maybe they recognize that lines and lettering aren't that easy and are hiding behind that as an excuse. I'm not trying to make you feel bad, just sharing the content of other discussions about tattoos like these. As my buddy @marley mission would say - they are great, embrace them, own them, and go get more tattoos! --- Here is the thread @Fala referred to: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/general-tattoo-discussion/2396-what-makes-good-tattoo.html
  8. Welcome! Forget trends - if it's what you want, then it was meant to be.
  9. The other day when I was getting into my car, I reflexively pulled forward getting in so I didn't rub my healing back against the seat. Except I had my touch-up session 2 months ago and my second-to-last session-from-hell the beginning of January. (My penultimate session - I never get to use that fun word!) Sometimes in the shower I turn around so the water won't blast away at my healing back. Except I had my last session 2 months ago. Sometimes my back itches and I resist with great difficulty scratching my healing tattoo and end up slapping it instead. Except it's already healed. You get the idea. Okay, so it's not quite phantom pain, and yes, some parts of the tattoo are still healing under there so some itching is normal, but after 20 back sessions over a solid year, I'm finding that several unconscious behaviors have wormed themselves into my daily life. I definitely don't slouch back against chairs as much anymore. I wonder how long this will continue. I'm just amused when I catch myself being overly protective of something that's just FINE.
  10. Ice packs - I have to remember to bring some zip locks for the the hotel. And maybe one of those instant ice packs you have in first aid kits. It's a long flight home. Can't wait! I've left wrap on a couple times for 9 hours - very late night finish + couple hour drive home + attempt at sleep. I never had a problem with a long wrap if I was diligent with the first shower. But 13 hours and no leakage - that's a good wrap! Good luck on the straight-legging and I'll be looking for pics. Ah yes, arnica. Don't worry - we will have a blast! Going to Muir Woods, definitely some winery action, and probably a touristy SF tour are starters for sure. And the seafood street vendors and drinking beer out of paper bags at the waterside. :) I'll let you know when I am in town. Maybe we can meet up to say hi and meet F2F. And maybe I can see that lovely crazy dragon your daughter picked out from @cltattooing's flash sheet! :D
  11. @BigGuns - welcome! Yes - please do let us know about Tegaderm and bras. I don't think anyone has posted about this particular combination of events! Good luck on the new tattoo!!
  12. From @monmoncats a couple weeks ago... https://instagram.com/p/1BJPmbxR2g/
  13. Thanks @a1steaks. That doesn't seem too bad. I'm getting upper thigh, and I'll bring headphones. I hope to soak up the shop aura and the amazingness of a 1-shot tattoo, but always need to plan for a fall-back.
  14. It might be he sent this message before he was banned for creating some nonsense elsewhere, so his "banned" status was already updated when you opened your PM. Sometimes bannings happen quickly and behind the scenes. He may have spammed a mod.
  15. ^^^ This would have been the right solution! It's still less than a week so this is still a possibility! My guy has a 3 day cancellation period or I pay if he can't fill the spot. So I would have called and sent pics, but that's just my situation. It all depends on the agreement you have with him.
  16. So cool! If you don't mind my asking, @a1steaks, how many hours has it been for the green shading? I know it takes longer, just trying to get an idea. Although the amount of tebori I will be getting will be much smaller square footage.

Thanks once again for the opportunity to drool over your arm. You know, like not physically or anything :) Bugs - yes! That would be really cool and unique. I can see a little creepy crawly on there, centipede-type creature for one. Google "bugs" and there are so many awesome little colored dudes. If you haven't already, go over and put a link to this thread or the pics themselves in the http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/general-tattoo-discussion/15-latest-tattoo-lowdown.html thread. These are too awesome to let get lost in another thread.
  18. Aw jeez, I was only sort-of kidding, but this could be fun. Nice job on the thread title.
  19. Interesting idea - I agree with no color. Are you thinking of going up your entire calf all the way around? I think that might be the only way to do it justice for any detail. Another thing to consider is that your lower leg is smaller at the bottom (ankle) and gets bigger as you get up to your knee (duh) but buildings are bigger on the bottom and get smaller near the top. So the buildings either need to be drawn out of perspective or squashed together at their bases, or you might consider them overlapping on the bottom - like 3D, one in front of the other, and then becoming separated as they rise from their bases. If that makes sense. If you want it realistic. Or, you might avoid trying to be realistic and fitting them in without them all necessarily having the same base along the same line at your ankle.

  21. Ugh @Isotope - I hope you feel better soon. Sucks.
  22. Helps if the shirt has a design or pattern.
  23. Sure, no problem. I just asked what you thought "moderating" is because I think we are actually talking about two different things, and possibly the source of this confusion. Seeeya
