  1. Shhhh don't make fun of him yet. I really want him to post photos first.
  2. damn!!! can't wait to see more work on this bodysuit.
  3. Sad but true. Very eloquently stated Stewart. Any press is good press at this point. No matter how many 1000s of people understand tattoo culture and the disrespect that this show is, exponentially more people will be intrigued and want to see what the fuss is about.
  4. When in doubt, shut your mouth. This applies to more than just tattoo secrets and I don't mean any ill will from the statement so don't take it as a personal attack. I just mean if you can't understand proper boundaries then it's better to overfilter yourself than to spit verbal diarrhea all over.
  5. right? I can't tell if this is a joke post or not.....
  6. W/ the season finale featuring special guest Max Hardcore (if you don't know about that man I'm warning you- google with caution. not for the squeamish and definitely NSFW.)
  7. oh dear god no.... these are the kind of tattoos that people try to show me and I have to look away in shame
  8. If you really have that many tattoos by now and don't love any of them, maybe you just don't like tattooing... Just saying. Anyways, in an attempt to stay positive, I think leg placement is better than arm placement as far as keeping the tattoos out of sight. People rarely see my leg tattoos- they regularly see my arm tattoos. If your wife is going to be an artist worth her weight then she will likely have LOTS of visible tattoos as she progresses. So beware if that's going to be an issue for your relationship.
  9. this is going to be the best release of the summer WUGAZI Yes. It's exactly what it sounds like it is.
  10. Please do not generalize this forum and try to play off your ignorance as other people's malice. There has been some very productive advice in this thread. I just don't think you want to hear it or else you would have already shut up by now and went about learning things the proper way. Your statement that "tattooing can look after itself, it was here long before you or I, it will be here long after, and it needs neither of us to survive" is downright disgraceful and you should be ashamed for having such an apathetic attitude.
  11. Yes. A motorcycle is just a seat set upon steel and rubber if you never ride it. I shudder to imagine a non-tattoo artist owning a tattoo machine or any sort of specs related to them.
  12. I'm assuming this is your same wife who you posted about apprenticing in another thread. You'd think her parents would be more bothered about her career change than getting some tattoos on her legs. And I mean really- what's the worst they're going to do? Give you the cold shoulder because she got a tattoo? Fuck em.
  13. I actually think that tattoo ended up in TWO different threads. So bad- so good.
  14. I'd only ever seen a couple Kore Flatmo tattoos that Lochlan had shown me. Intrigued by Scott's recent interview with him, I checked out his website... Damn! Homie does some amazing work. Here's some skull jammers that I was stoked on
  15. The first places I always recommend for NYC are Adorned and Smith St. There's a thread in this forum with LST recommended tattoo shops as well you could check out.
  16. Stewart's right yet again. I've been biting my tongue but really you just need to spend less time trying to justify yourself via the internet and more time painting. You can write paragraphs for days about your personal history but that doesn't make you any more talented of a painter. Good luck!

Hoods this Friday at Gilman. Boom. Wish I could go.
  18. Thomas Hooper is easily in my personal top 25 tattooers. I love how good black work like this elevates a body part beyond being just an arm/leg/whatever. So good.

Saw Slapstick, Alkaline Trio, and The Lawrence Arms last week. Stoked. I wish I could go to the Riverboat Gamblers / Off With Their Heads / Dead To Me / Underground Railroad To Candyland / Big Kids show in SF next week...
  20. Well when the book is related to illustration I think that quote goes out the window.
  21. I've shown up to appointments when an artist hasn't drawn anything yet and yes I had to wait longer but I still ended up with some killer tattoos. Think about how many people/tattoos he/she has to deal with on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. I'm sure one or two clients are bound to slip through the cracks. If he forgets again on the day of just pretend you're a walk in- in which case you'd have to wait for him to draw it up anyways. I would be more concerned with your seeming lack of confidence in your artist's skill level more than his forgetting what you wanted tattooed.... The majority of your leg is a big chunk to give to someone you don't really trust is going to deliver you something you'll be happy with.
