Hi, I'm Stewart, I work at Frith Street Tattoo in London, UK. I've been tattooing in a shop for 4 years, 3 of them at Frith Street (I was scratching at home for 2 years before that). I'm slow at joining in and replying to messages and stuff, but I'll try to make an effort here.

OK, so the article is about the tattoo biz being recession proof, but as a side note: It REALLY fucking bugs me when tattooers talk about how much money they make to the media. What a douche bag. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39641413/ns/business-us_business/

so my right wrist (my tattooing hand) has been giving me a heap of trouble recently, ive had to switch to lighter machines and get acupuncture twice a week to help it, but it still kills. I guess if im not tattooing, im drawing at home or the shop, so i dont really get a chance to chill and not use it. do other tattooers suffer from something similar and what other suggestions do you have?

My name is Jon Clement. I make tattoos at Capital Tattoo in Richmond, VA. The shop puts on the Richmond show twice a year. I've been tattooing for six years. I feel honored to have the lifestyle I do. I do various guest spots and conventions yearly. I have had the privilege of working with many world class artists and learning (being a sponge) from all of them. I look forward to enjoying this site as it differs from the other mind numbing "forums" on the interwebs. Thank you for reading and look forward to conversing with you. Jon Clement c/s

I was lookin at your lists in the blogs of who has tattooed you and I have two lists..ones from years ago, like bob shaw, etc and ones newer like mike wilson.... Any how the biggest regret i have is i had a chance to get tattooed by greg irons and....PASSED!!!!!!!!!!! thats right...PASSED!!!!!!!!( i may have told this story elsewhere) I was visiting SF I think it was 82...and we were up there on broadway and greg was working the night shift at deans and he was putting a dragon off the wall on a friend of mine and i was making time with this chick so we went for a walk to a park below broadway like kinda behind the mabuhay gardens and i started picking her locks and never made it back to the shop!!!!!!!!! Of course hindsight is 20 20....and you know....regrets...like trading some PR machines for a set of rare books in 85....losing a 57 goldtop les paul to a pawnshop for 100.00 that hangs in freedom guitar with a 10,000 dollar pricetag...all that was material things...but that tattoo...well that is the pinnacle of regrets for me....I would still have it today.... I cannot even remember the girls name.....

Just got an email from a guy with no tattoos who does not tattoo, we'll call him Old Man River, saying "Hey, opening a tattoo shop/art gallery with some friends and business partners," asking me if I knew anyone who wanted to work there. Without typing a laundry list of everything wrong with this picture (which I just did and then deleted after I thought better of it), what's the general feeling here? My response to him was short but polite. I'm not a tattooer myself but I really wanted to fly off the handle a bit... and its not even my place to. I know there are a few non-tattooers who have done this very successfully but it's rare. I wouldn't decide to go open a shoe store or a tire factory -- how could I justify it when I know nothing about those industries -- so why do people think they can open a shop/GALLERY and somehow become respected and successful in the tattoo community?

I did this walk-in last night, he wanted a pinup with "some herbage" incorporated into it. I put skin tone in the pinup coming off the black, but it didn't show up in the picture too well. I'm still trying to get my pinup shading on-point, I feel like it's always lacking, but I guess less is more sometimes??

I really didn't know what to post but I wanted to get the ball rolling for me. This was a piece I did last week. My buddy that helps me with my website came to me and wanted something to do with with "Bad Luck Good Speed". It is supposed to be "God Speed" but he didn't want anything religious and he considers himself to live in the fast lane. Haha. Anyways, I had a really hard time trying to think of something to do... what I finally came up with is a horse running away from a nuclear bomb strapped to his back. Kinda saying, you're fucked no matter how fast you run. Anyways... any thoughts, feedback or anything would be tight. Thanks!

Hello everyone. My name is Rob Junod. I work at Body Manipulations in San Francisco, alongside Colin Stevens and Andrew Snowden. I recently made the move over to this shop about a month ago, after being asked by Colin if I would be interested in working with him. He has been an inspiration to me for quite a while now, and I am 20x more excited about my job than ever before, hearing his stories of the past, and seeing the amazing work he does every day. I recently discovered this site, and have browsed it al little bit so far. It's nice to see people being nice with each other in an online setting. Obviously we all have one thing in common, and I hope that I will be able to contribute, as well. I have lived and worked in San Francisco for the past 5 years of my career. I've been very fortunate to be able to see inspirational work on people on a day to day basis. It gives me a swift kick in my ass to constantly progress, and I believe this forum will do the same. I have a son, Oliver, who is 2 1/2 years old. He keeps me motivated and excited about life. I'm looking forward to being a part of this. Thanks.
