I don’t know what to do…

Hi,

I just got a new tattoo two weeks ago and have done the same after care routine as my other three tattoos. I use unscented soap to clean them and was using aquaphor as I did before which healed my past tattoos just fine.. but with this recent one I noticed I got little red bumps around the tattoo area and when I would search it up, it just said it was from putting too much aquaphor in which case I did. They were a bit itchy and just assumed it was from the peeling process of the tattoo. Since they weren’t in the actual tattoo I just let them go away on their own and they have gone away a bit, but started to notice they were inside the actual tattoo area. But I was told it was probably just having a mild allergic reaction and some cortisone could help so I applied it around it not on the actual tattoo since it was still early in the healing stage I just made sure to put unscented lotion on it in the meantime.

But today it’s been exactly two weeks and noticed I have a raised kind of hard flaky bump. It doesn’t hurt when I press on it and it’s not itchy. I just want to know whether this has happened to anyone and what they did. I’m not sure what to put on it in the meantime but I know it’s not completely healed yet and want to make sure I’m still taking care of it or taking correct measures for it..

I added pictures but since it’s in black ink I can’t tell how it actually looks underneath it too good..not sure if you can notice it but it’s on the nose area of it and they literally just sprung up last night and sorry about the hairs I know it makes it difficult to see the little bumps but I don’t ever shave tattoo areas until they’re fully healed.

You have way too much lotion on. It looks like it's swimming. Let it dry heal for a few weeks. You are drowning that tattoo. You only need a tiny bit of lotion, too little is better than too much.

Thank you! I actually didn’t have anything on it when I took those pictures. This is two weeks after the tattoo, I’ve read it’s normal for it to be shiny since it’s not fully healed, but if you’re saying to let it dry heal I will.

I don't think I've ever had a tattoo that looked that shiny and I've got well over 300 hours in the tattoo chair over the last 10 years. Regardless though, those bumps look like water blisters which come from too much moisture.

Good luck.

    • First let me say I've never seen exactly that related to tattoos. Second, I am NOT a doctor, so take any advice with a grain of salt and follow it at your own risk. I do have something like that which appears on my face from time to time. After multiple visits to the dermatologist, which didn't fix it, I finally came up with my own treatment. Whenever it flairs up, I just wipe the area down with plain rubbing alcohol three or four times a day to keep it dry. That usually works within a couple of days. Again, I'm not a doctor, but I don't think it would hurt anything for you to try that. Good Luck.
    • Hey, I have a serious problem! I got a tattoo in Manila 4 weeks ago. The artist is very well known and is one of the most renowed. 2 day after tattooing, small pimples began to form on my thight an many at the tattoo. 3 days later i had fever at night (just at night). After that, the pimpels began to spread very quickly all over the body. (back stomach etc..) I have now been to 3 doctors and everyone is at a loss. The blood work is fine and with no anomalies. Antibiotic ointment and cortisone ointment did not help. Xyzall allergy tablets did not help either. When i took cortisone tablets, 90% of the pimpels disappeared on the tattoo, but not on the other parts of the body. Now that I´am no longer taking cortisone, the pimpels on the tattoo are starting to grow back again very quick. On the other parts of the skin , the pimpels are sometimes lighter and sometimes stronger. This can be change hourly. They don´t hurt and hardy lever itch. Of course I´am afraid of a tattoo allergie. Has anyone already had this problem ? Does anyone know what that could be ? I add photos: 1) Photo directly after tattooing. 2) 2 Photos with the pimpels after a week 3) After 3 weeks while taking cortisone. 4) Photo of the body on the left.
