New here! Is this normal for healing? Black lines darker than fill.

Hello!

This is day nine of healing for a tattoo that's located on the top of my hand. It's been peeling over the last few days, and the fresh skin in the area in the photo just became visible this morning. In several spots in this area, the lines that were created prior to when the black fill was layered over them are visible through the filled in black.

It's still quite milky, light, and shiny, so I'm not sure if the fill is ultimately going to get darker to make the lines underneath less visible. There are a few other fill areas not in the photo that have a similar effect where the under lines are visible. I did tons of searching but haven't seen a healing photo quite like this. Will the fill darken to cover the lines as it heals, or did the fill just heal too light? I didn't pick or mess with the peeling skin and didn't really scab heavily.

This is my first major tattoo so I'm not sure what to expect. I traveled cross country for this, so I can't go back in to have it evaluated right now. My aftercare instructions said colors could look uneven while healing, but to this degree? Watching a tattoo heal is one of the most stressful things I think I've ever done, especially in an area that's so visible. Thanks for any advice.

So don’t watch it heal so closely. The only real communality in healing tattoos is that it takes time. Give it a month or two. Hands are delicate areas and move a lot and tend to take longer to heal.

    • First let me say I've never seen exactly that related to tattoos. Second, I am NOT a doctor, so take any advice with a grain of salt and follow it at your own risk. I do have something like that which appears on my face from time to time. After multiple visits to the dermatologist, which didn't fix it, I finally came up with my own treatment. Whenever it flairs up, I just wipe the area down with plain rubbing alcohol three or four times a day to keep it dry. That usually works within a couple of days. Again, I'm not a doctor, but I don't think it would hurt anything for you to try that. Good Luck.
    • Hey, I have a serious problem! I got a tattoo in Manila 4 weeks ago. The artist is very well known and is one of the most renowed. 2 day after tattooing, small pimples began to form on my thight an many at the tattoo. 3 days later i had fever at night (just at night). After that, the pimpels began to spread very quickly all over the body. (back stomach etc..) I have now been to 3 doctors and everyone is at a loss. The blood work is fine and with no anomalies. Antibiotic ointment and cortisone ointment did not help. Xyzall allergy tablets did not help either. When i took cortisone tablets, 90% of the pimpels disappeared on the tattoo, but not on the other parts of the body. Now that I´am no longer taking cortisone, the pimpels on the tattoo are starting to grow back again very quick. On the other parts of the skin , the pimpels are sometimes lighter and sometimes stronger. This can be change hourly. They don´t hurt and hardy lever itch. Of course I´am afraid of a tattoo allergie. Has anyone already had this problem ? Does anyone know what that could be ? I add photos: 1) Photo directly after tattooing. 2) 2 Photos with the pimpels after a week 3) After 3 weeks while taking cortisone. 4) Photo of the body on the left.
