Hi Everyone,

I recently got the first session of a colored realistic tattoo done last Saturday at a reputable shop in NYC and wanted to obtain some feedback on color saturation and the healing process.

We did a 2.5 hr session of what I was told would be 6hrs total before the artist suggested that we stop because the skin was bleeding too much.

Below is are images of what the tattoo looks like today dry and a reference picture.

My main concern is that the colors look very dull so far given the fact that my skin feels like it was worked on pretty well. For reference, I’m still leaking plasma in certain spots and still in pain when walking . I dont know if this is because of the area where I got it tattooed, the amount of shading, the style of tattoo or if the artist had a heavy hand.

I contacted the shop and artist and they said everything looks as it should but I wanted an unbiased opinion.

I’m due for the second session in a week but am not sure whether the skin will be fully healed by then and if I should continue the piece with this artist.

Any feedback would be appreciated

I’d recommend uploading the pics. I don’t have an Imgur account and can’t see them.

Still leaking plasma after a week isn’t normal, not that I’ve ever heard.

Being in pain after a week happens, especially on thin skin. I’m going through that myself right now. I usually wait a month between tattoos on the same skin.

Thank you both for your feedback, I think you are spot on. Im hoping just to get the yellow portions done tbh because that area wasnt really worked on and it will make the tattoo look somewhat complete.

Since i am somewhat darker skinned do you think the artist should use a darker shade of yellow or maybe even orange?

    • Hey, I have a serious problem! I got a tattoo in Manila 4 weeks ago. The artist is very well known and is one of the most renowed. 2 day after tattooing, small pimples began to form on my thight an many at the tattoo. 3 days later i had fever at night (just at night). After that, the pimpels began to spread very quickly all over the body. (back stomach etc..) I have now been to 3 doctors and everyone is at a loss. The blood work is fine and with no anomalies. Antibiotic ointment and cortisone ointment did not help. Xyzall allergy tablets did not help either. When i took cortisone tablets, 90% of the pimpels disappeared on the tattoo, but not on the other parts of the body. Now that I´am no longer taking cortisone, the pimpels on the tattoo are starting to grow back again very quick. On the other parts of the skin , the pimpels are sometimes lighter and sometimes stronger. This can be change hourly. They don´t hurt and hardy lever itch. Of course I´am afraid of a tattoo allergie. Has anyone already had this problem ? Does anyone know what that could be ? I add photos: 1) Photo directly after tattooing. 2) 2 Photos with the pimpels after a week 3) After 3 weeks while taking cortisone. 4) Photo of the body on the left.
