  1. I have family in Corte Madera and I can't stay out of tattoo shops. I usually get there twice a year but I'm also coming out for State Of Grace again this year. Perhaps we'll meet up!
  2. I think I fly into Sf on the last day of that. I can't wait to see it! Thanks for posting!
  3. Joel Long, Pee Wee and Dave Regan at Bolder Ink. Phil Bartell and Darren Hall at Rising Tide. Both shops in Boulder.
  4. Milt Zeis is one of my favorites. If there is anything I can do- please let me know!!
  5. As of yesterday the total raised is $2,907.00. Thanks for your support and if you haven't ordered some please do before June 1st. Thanks!
  6. That Kuniyoshi Exhibit at Japan Society last year was the single best art show I have ever seen. That print and others from the story were there and they were amazing to see in person.
  7. Well said, Bart. There was woman working in my shop who only wanted to render images brought to her by customers. She didn't want to draw ANYTHING. Her portfolio did not reflect that at all to customers as they saw these really nice, rendered portraits or statues or whatever. Since we refer people to portfolios so they can choose who tattoos them, MANY people wanted to get tattooed by her. When asked who they wanted to do the job, many people picked her based on her portfolio. The next question is "What do you want to get?" "A script name," they often answered- not knowing that she could take a perfectly good portrait and fuck it up with her version of a script name because she didn't care enough to learn lettering well enough to make it match her renderings. It was not uncommon for her to Google "Fancy Script" when she could get away with it. In this case it was a matter of a tattooer who didn't care and some customers who in a lot cases just did not know what they wanted. This of course, did not keep them from giving unfavorable reviews of my shop and their experiences online. She no longer works with us and it changed the environment in our shop for the better.
  8. Mods- Please move or delete if this violates the rules.... Japanese Earthquake Relief From now until June 1st, 2011, I will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of all of the 3 Japanese colors I sell. These colors are J. Orange, J. Red and J. Pink. You can get them on the website at Waverly Color Co. or from me directly at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum. ( Please call ahead of time if you are coming to see me in person.) The 2 oz. bottles are $ 30.00 and the 4 oz. bottles are $57.00. Thanks for your support as always and dig deep! I can't imagine the lives of people that have been changed overnight by a natural disaster. I'm heartened by the outpouring of support in the tattoo community and I see this as something I can do to get money there relatively quickly to the people who need it now. All money will be forwarded to the Japanese Red Cross as it comes in to avoid delay. Have a great day and please repost and pass on this info as you see fit. Bill
  9. I would love to get a copy of any of that stuff. If naked Cliff Raven is in it, then so be it. I've been trying to get any of those videos for a long time.
  10. I have it. I got it on my wrist from Sonny Tufts in Philly in '89. I thought it was a cool classic design that just might remind me to be a nicer person. I still feel the same way about it.
  11. As soon as I saw, "Hot Rod Sleeve" I thought of Dave Waugh. He is THE MAN for that stuff.
  12. The story of Tux is pretty wild. I'm between appointments right now so I can't type much about it. He died a few years from what I believe was a brain tumor/brain cancer? I can't remember.
  13. They are nice designs at an unbeatable price. Thanks, Julio!
  14. I'm in the back wearing the hat. I think that was '83. I'm 19 but look 12!
  15. I'll be there with a few guys from my shop. It was a great show last year!
  16. Just saw this message. I'll be at the party. Looking forward to it! Thanks!

No worries on the hijack- I'm just glad to be here! If you like Joe Strummer- I just found a whole pile of unreleased stuff on Demonoid.com. Check it out!
  18. Hi Bart! Haven't seen you in a bit. Hope NYC is treating you well!

Thanks for the welcome! I have to say that I have zero interest in discussing technical information on a public forum. Trust your tattooer. I do, however, have an interest in Afghan Kabob, the writings of Harry Crews, Malcolm Gladwell, Charles Bukowski and Bill Buford as well as the musical stylings of Joe Strummer and Can.
  20. That's a good point, the pass on. I dig it. If it's something I don't have any interest in like a shit-ton of Celtic animals with intertwining knots I pass it on. I don't do intricate Celtic work enough to be great at it because I don't have any interest in it. Upside-down names and that shit- all day long- I'm your guy
  21. I make tattoos for a living and it's not about me. The only pet peeve I have is tattooers who cannot spell. Don't be arrogant, check the dictionary. Now check it again.
